Seriously Mad Dad

man money 10[Blind Gossip]  The adult child of two wealthy celebrities is talking about how proud he is that he is earning his own way in the world. His father does not exactly share that sentiment.

He’s mad. He was yelling about [the son], “He’s not earning his own way! He’s begging! I raised my kids to be workers, not beggars!”

This puts Dad in a seriously awkward situation.  If he does give him the money, that takes away the incentive for the kid to work. If he doesn’t give the kid the money, he’ll keep begging publicly and keep embarrassing the family.

    John McEnroe and his ex wife Tatum O’neal’s son- who is an artist and is begging for money to fund his art exhibit…

    I would tell my kid to get another job to pay for any extra money needed for his art collection…

    This is Sean McEnroe, son of Tatum O’Neal and John McEnroe, who started a GoFundMe campaign to put on an exhibition and ended up having to refund the $800 or so (out of $10,000 requested) when it was revealed the exhibition was not even confirmed at the gallery.

    McEnroe’s kid, who is running a GoFundMe or something to raise $10,000 for an art show of impressively mediocre photographs. I’d let the kid stew, because a) no one’s going to give him money to stage that mess and b) he’s only embarrassing himself. Kudos to the parents for not enabling that foolishness.

    I would make part investment and part loan in the kid’s project.

    The McEnroe kid. How on Earth did 2 such well adjusted individuals raise such a dysfunctional child?

      Right. At least he’s not throwing tennis rackets or shoes at people or binge drugging and dating a washed up talk show host for attention. Sometimes two negatives equal a positive. Sometimes two negatives equal another negative, but every once in a while two negatives create something in between. My guess is Sean is not as angsty or immature as his father, nor insecure and self-destructive like his mother, probably not the epitomy of mental strength and health, but maybe somewhere in between.

      Daddy John is well-known for his level-head and mild temper, and Tatum is… well, Tatum.

    Sean O’Neil posted a GoFundMe appeal earlier this month for $10,000 for an exhibition in Florida

    – The request is for prep costs only as no actual showing is scheduled. This is kind of a bs issue as plenty of people have dopey group funding requests that don’t attract attention, and putting up a show is expensive. Loads of artists rely on grants to show their work. However, if its hard to be considered a professional artist if you need to use your family name to shake down sources.

    This is about John McEnroe’s and Tatum O’Neal’s son who is trying to raise $10,000 on GoFundMe or something like that to support is art career. He should get a job to cover living expenses while trying to make art a career – not mooching off people. I think he did it BECA– USE it would embarrass
    his parents.

    [Optional] If this was your child, what would you do? I’d give my child money to start a career but not encourage begging people for money.

      Off topic : In the UK all under 18s have to remain in education or an apprenticeship by law. Brooklyn is 16 and not meeting the above criteria

    What would I do? IDK. but it sounds like they spoiled this kid his whole life and now they don’t know why he doesn’t have a work ethic as an adult. He should sue them for raising him to be an entitled brat who can’t feed or clothe himself.
