This blonde singer is getting blasted for not visiting this brunette singer in rehab.

Fans of the brunette are acting like the brunette is laid up with terminal cancer and the blonde singer is some selfish, heartless witch giving her the middle finger.

What fans are completely missing is this: If the brunette’s problem actually was something like an illness, it would be GOOD for the blonde singer to publicly express compassion and support!

The fact that the blonde is NOT doing so confirms what we have been telling you all along: The spin about the rehab stay being about chronic illness and anxiety is bull! The truth is that it’s about hard drugs and alcohol.

[The blonde] feels a little betrayed. [The brunette] kept telling her that she was clean and that she had stopped doing [drugs]. So [the blonde] felt it was safe to hang out with her. It turns out that [the brunette] was lying.

Now that she knows the truth, the blonde singer has to be SMART. Her brand has never included hard drugs or alcohol addiction or rehab. Until the brunette is clean, the blonde will keep some distance.

    [Optional] Do you think the blonde singer is doing the right thing? tricky – first instinct is if your friend needs support you give it, if friend has checked herself into rehab and is committed to it then you should support them through this it’s a big step and there’s enough evidence rehab works in 75% ( give or take) of cases. If you’re a friend you step up. If you know however they’ve no intention of working at it – might think again

    I like Taylor’s songs but I’m beginning to really dislike her. Selena publicly defended Taylor (Kimye) but when she’s in trouble, where’s taylor? Yes, as a celebrity image is super important but Selena risked her career defending you. Taylor’s image has taken a hit. Breaking up with calvin, breaking up with tom, fighting with katy, suing fans on etsy etc. Taylor’s squad can keep saying how great she is but if anything, these past few years just show she’s not the oh so perfect girl…

    What the what? Selena is a in rehab for drugs and alcohol… Yikes! It does seem plausible since she was spending a lot of time with the Biebs who seems completely out of control.

      Selena spent no time with Bieber this year, apart from going to his show in LA in March, which was purely for her image. Selena’s drug habit is HER responsibility, her doing, and hers alone. It’s not healthy to blame others. It hinders recovery.

    She is in rehab. She should stay there and focus on herself. Don’t think there should be visitors in rehab. Not at this early stage. She should stay for about half a year and when she feels confident about herself then she should start interacting with friends again.

    The term “FRENEMIES” certainly comes to mind when Taylor and Selena are the involved parties.

    True friends will always have your back. Fair weather friends care about details and opportunities, and themselves above all. Taylor could be worried about guilt by association. Swift has several “acquaintances” that are no strangers to booze and blow.

    Agree Selena Gomez and T. Swift. I don’t think she has an obligation to do anything. But addiction really IS an illness and Gomez is trying to get better. She’s right to hide behind an excuse as press scrutiny won’t help. This is why people are turning on T. Swift. She comes off phony and fair weather. If your friend is suffering and your first thought is of your “brand” you have serious issues. People will forgive a lot of genuine people. She should try it.

    This is clearly about Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift. And all it proves is that their friendship is just like other ‘friendships’ in the business; fake and phony. With the image they’ve put out, they are supposed to be there for each other. They are each other’s rock and confidant. If this was a woman I put up as my best friend, I would be there in a heartbeat without guiding even if it was for drugs and alcohol. However, since it’s a fake friendship; brand > humans to Taylor.

    Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez. Hmm, this answers alot of questions. I always wondered how the two could be besties when Tay Tay is apparently so anti-drug.

    I think Selena needs her friends right now. If she is allowed visitors, there must be some way for Taylor to see her incognito if she wanted to. I agree that is very selfish of her not to be there for a friend in need for the sake of her image. Addicts lie, and Taylor should not take it personally.

    Just had to comment. Guess what, nobody’s perfect. We all have our demons, trust…no matter how good you are, or THINK you are. If you are a true friend, you behave as one, and stick by someone as best you can to help them work it out.
    If this is only in the spotlight to protect her “brand” well fallout be what it may. My only hope is in private she is there for her. Remember, life turns, don’t expect someone you “fair weather” to be there for you…

    No, I don’t think the Blonde Singer is doing the right thing. Addiction is an illness, I have had friends who’ve had addictions in the past and I wouldn’t dream of distancing myself from them, but then I’m not a money hungry selfish ass like Swift

    Selena and Taylor.
    It’s tough dealing with friends who are addicts. As much as you want to be there to help and support them, it’s exhausting and unfair to have to deal with the dishonesty that often comes with addiction. Maybe staying away from Selena is not just about “brand”. Maybe Taylor’s just had enough and needs some space from a draining relationship. She’s probably smart for doing so.

    It’s a fine line, I guess, with image control. But it’s better to be/look like a supportive friend, no matter what the real illness is. She could be supportive of her recovery from a distance (i.e., social media).

    Optional: She’s in rehab, so it would seem that Selena is trying to get help. Friends should support each other when they’re down (but asking for help). Taylor could use some ( a lot!) positive press and it would help her image if she’s seen being there for a friend. Staying away makes her look extremely shallow. If Selena relapses, that would be a whole other story.

      This is a relapse. She has been to rehab before. I think it got to the point where Taylor had to take a step back.

      Point taken, and I know it’s a relapse, and maybe I’m way too soft, but I’d still want to encourage my friend while she’s actually in rehab. But everyone has their limit, and maybe Taylor reached hers.

    Yes, I do think she’s doing the right thing. Part of a brand or no, best not to get caught up at all with alcoholics and drug addicts. I had to enforce strict no contact with my biological father for that reason. Those people are toxic and can’t be trusted, IMO. Sad but true.

      Nobody is obligated to stick with a druggie. If Taylor is sincerely uncomfortable around drugs, I get it. This is not necessarily Taylor acting fake..

      Actually in this kind of situation, staying away while they recover is not always cruel. A true friend or loved one would tell the addict that they love the addict too much to enable them to kill themselves with drugs or alcohol . Wish them the best with their sobriety. Then be available IF the person puts together sober time and recognizes that they need to earn trust back from the lies
      That is what is taught in Al Anon

    Everyone knows Gomez is using Lupus as a front for her coke and booze abuse. Is Taylor passing judgment by staying away? Very possibly. If so, it’s pretty shameful of TS seeing as Gomez publicly embarrassed herself by reducing Black Lives Matters to “sides” after defending Swift on Twitter.

If Selena and Taylor are as close as the media portrays their friendship, I think having a good friend visit you in your time of need would actually benefit Selena. Also, it would have made Taylor look better after months of having her fake image dragged down by other celebrities, despite the real reasons as to why Selena was in rehab.

    Optional: Yes. It might sound cold, but if Selena was lying about being clean, that’s a betrayal of trust. I also get not wanting to be associated with that lifestyle. I did something similar in high school; I stopped hanging out with some friends that I still loved dearly because they got into hard drugs and became untrustworthy.     She has to do what works for her image, that is her business after all. Side note: I’ve had friends who were on and off alcohol/drugs. It got to the point that I could never trust them when they said they were clean. Eventually had to ditch them to be happy with my life.

      I agree. I don’t like Swift, but if Gomez lies it’s a betrayal on a friendship/trust level and Swift has her livelihood/image to protect, which she’s having enough trouble with at the moment, so I totally understand her position. Swift has always been upfront about being anti-drugs, Gomez knows that, it’s common knowledge, and it seems Swift has been supportive of Gomez in the past, but maybe she’s over it now if her friend lies. Friendships are troublesome with lies, it may not survive.

      I rarely do, and even though she’s probably just keeping her distance to maintain her (fake) image as someone squeaky clean, I agree that not pandering to the friend is best for everyone.
