[Blind Gossip] Celebrities have to be extra careful in public. If they get noticed and are not surrounded by bodyguards, they can be the subject of unwelcome attention that can quickly escalate into frightening situation.

It could simply be overzealous fans invading their personal space to demand autographs or selfies… or unbalanced people who want to hurt them because they see them as symbols of something they despise.

A source in the legal profession told us the following.

When people cross the line and threaten to harm them or actually cause harm to their person or property, law enforcement takes those cases very seriously. There are some sick people out there, and celebrities sometimes become unwitting targets simply because they are famous.

In the case of an actor who is now the subject of an investigation, we have a little insight as to how the investigation is proceeding.

We are looking at all the evidence. There are more moving parts here than in a typical case, and it’s like putting together the pieces of a large puzzle. Right now, there are three pieces that don’t fit. That does not mean that his claim is fake. There were clearly threats and bodily harm. It simply means that we have more work to do to find the right pieces and uncover the truth.

We hope that justice is served quickly in this case.

    I just don’t believe the specifics of this case – the noose, the bleach, the MAGA hats sound very made up, especially when you consider the actor spontaneously decided to go out in the middle of the night, and the weather was freezing cold and he knew from the letters he was a target. I wish the press and celebrities would back off on reporting and making comments on this case until the police finish their investigation, it just gets everybody riled up. I have a feeling all is not what it seems

    It was premeditated and they somehow knew he would be out at 2am going to Subway?
    They were prepared with bleach and a noose?
    They had on hats over ski masks?
    He kept the noose on for 45 minutes? I am sorry, I would have that off immediately.
    Obviously something happened to him, but I am not sure the facts add up to what he said happened. He deserves justice but I do hope he is not distorting truths for a political agenda.

    1. A friend made the 911 call, even though he said he was alone on the street during the attack.
    2. He walked I think to the nearest hospital according to news reports. Why not call 911 for ambulance?
    3. That particular neighborhood in Chicago is high density for city and private surveillance cameras. So far, CPD has not seen anything on surveillance footage. Not the attack, not any suspects lurking or fleeing the area.
    I can’t imagine, however, that this is a fabrication.

      They’ve produced surveillance footage of persons of interest now. Nothing of the incident however.

    IDK it looks legit except for 2 attackers waiting around the clock with ski masks to attack. Possible but a lot of waiting for an impromptu food run at 2:00am.

    It’s all strange to me. The letter they sent? Why was he just randomly strolling around Chicago alone in the middle of the night? How did they know he’d be there? Who walks around with rope just waiting to tie around someone’s neck?

    Sorry but the story doesn’t add up. It was below zero at 2am…that area has been rife with groups of black guys jacking cars. It is in no way MAGA friendly, and everyone from here knows that. Two extreme racists walking around with bleach and a noose at 2am just waiting for a gay minority to come out of a 24 hour subway restaurant? I dont buy it.

    The guy from Empire who said he got attacked in Chicago. A lot doesn’t add up in that story, especially someone in Chicago, of all places, wearing a MAGA hat and saying it’s Trump area. I wonder if it’s a drug deal gone bad.

    Optional: I honestly dont know what happened. Because it has been reported that he had received threatening letters, and then was attacked. Were they stalking him to know his whereabouts at 2 am? They had stuff ready (bleach and a noose) so its either a targeted attack (on a night when most people were home due to the freezing weather), a random attack, or a drug deal/sexual encounter gone wrong.

    Jussie. I queried why they brought in threatening note (movie ransom style) that was mailed to him. That should have nothing to do with this case, unless they knew his flight and then staked him from airport to Subway…

    -Chicago is not MAGA country.
    -Weather was extreme at that time.
    -Injuries don’t completely fit claim.

    With that said, I’m only going by what many are saying they are skeptical about in this case. Since I grew up within 5 mi. of Mar-a-Lago & already dealt a LOT with Trump being in the news, I knew this presidency was going to cause volatility in the U.S., AT BEST. I feel we are a nation in crisis that’s on the verge of another civil war. Somewhere a story like this…

    Jussie Smollett. I sure hope I’m wrong. I like him. But he received a threat prior to his “assault”, yet he walked around alone in Chicago at 2:00 a.m.

    Apparently there is no video footage of the incident, which sucks but doesn’t mean anything. Not sure what the other pieces are.

      He may have been attacked, but not for the reasons he claims. Probably was a drug deal gone bad or something sex ual. If I am correct, he should be held accountable for claiming he was attacked for being black and gay. His story stirred up hateful comments from race baiters (BLM) and gay groups who believe everyone is “homophobic”. People who support Trump have been maligned as well.

      He can’t lie to law enforcement and expect to get away with it.

      I think the beating up is by someone he knows and he elaborated the story with the MAGA piece. First he says random, just spotted them, but they had bleach? I am afraid this will to turn out to be part scam- he wanted to cover up the real reason he was beaten.

      I agree with reality check’s comment, there is something really off about the specifics involving this incident, I wish the press and people commenting on this case would wait a bit until they properly investigate exactly what happened.

    The 3 pieces of the puzzle that doesn’t fit is what exactly was he doing? Why was he out alone without a bodyguard? How come there was no witness? Why did he have to drive his own self to the hospital?

    Actor Jussie Smollett was attack in downtown Chicago. He claim that he was attack because he was gay, and the guys who attack him hurl racial slurs at him, and beat him so bad that he had to be hospitalized.

    Jussie Smollett and his claim about MAGA people attacking him.

    Personally, I am dubious that white people with MAGA hats attacked him. MAGA people usually mind their own business, although, alas, a few have been very violent. I am also rather dubious about the race of the attackers. White people with a lot of rage usually shoot their own families or go berserk in a public place. Lastly, the noose and bleach sound hinky to me. Let’s see where the evidence leads us, though.

    Jussie Smollett was apparently attacked in Chicago. It was reported as a racist/homophobic attack. Don’t know what doesn’t fit. He said he was beaten, sprayed with chemicals, and choked out. I mean it did seem weird to me that two men in masks just randomly stopped the attack and took off. You go through the trouble of hiding who you are but don’t finish the job? And Jussie didn’t contact police until he drove himself to the hospital. You would think he would call 911 at the scene.

    Jussie Smallett was assaulted in Chicago in the early morning hours. He was walking along the street. Details state a noose was placed around his neck
    and an unknown substance was poured on him. He was called homophobic insults. He stated that the assailants were unknown to him. What is puzzling to me is how these assailants knew who he was and where he was going to be at 2 a.m. and were prepared with a noose and something to pour on him. Someone tipped them off. Or it’s a made up story.

    I’m not sure the attack went down the way it’s being described. The hate crime bit may be to cover actual details. He may have not been as much of a victim as is being portrayed.

    Two Trump supporting white guys happened to be out that late at night… in Chicago (so blue!)… and recognized this actor? From Empire? Not doubting he got jumped, but it sounds like attackers who wanted to frame Trump supporters. Chicago is MAGA country?! In which alternate universe?!

    2:30am on one of the coldest nights (weeknight at that) we have had in decades and 2 guys are walking around with bleach and rope? I live in Chicago and have never seen someone wearing a MAGA hat — 95% of the people I know here are Democrats. Those 2 MAGA guys would stick out much more than Jussie. Recently there was a DePaul student, who originally said that he had been robbed and kidnapped, turns out he had met someone on line and went to her apartment where he was…

    My first thought was that maybe he was cruising or looking to score.
    Gay bashers could yell MAGA, so that could fit. Not sure what else is being questioned.
    His injuries are not fake, so something definitely happened to him.
