Pregnancy Detail Missing

baby american flag[Blind Gossip] There is one very significant detail that is missing from the story of an actress who is pregnant by her costar!

Of course a pregnancy is joyous news. But not a single outlet is mentioning this important fact: She is still married to someone else!

She and her husband separated a couple of years ago, but they never got legally divorced.

It’s interesting that her husband isn’t even even mentioned in the pregnancy announcement. The actress’ publicist must be working overtime to make sure that detail stays well hidden!

    So, since we all easily know this is good ol’ “Felicity,” since she is (technically) still married, wouldn’t this (technically) mean that LEGALLY her husband would be the one recognized as this baby’s “father”?

    This is just a wild guess because lots of actresses are expecting as of late. Ms. De Ravin seems to be going through a rather lengthy, messy divorce. I’ve witnessed too many spiteful soon to be exes drag divorces on for years and years, trying to ensure the other party could never find a bit of peace or happiness. I can understand someone moving on before the divorce is finalized if they’ve been dealing with years and years of stress in court…

    Where I come from divorce take about 2 years, you have to go through a period of being legally separated. So even if she is still technically married to someone who is not the baby’s father it doesn’t mean she is still in a relationship with her previous husband, she could just be in that legal limbo before the divorce is final.
    So yes, it is ok, it isn’t ideal, but its doesn’t mean you’re a bad person or that you aren’t trying to not be married anymore.

    Morena Baccawhatever and the Ben guy from the OC that are on Gotham now. She’s still married to some other guy. I think it’s tacky and low-class. But whatever, her estranged husband is older than her, and she’s 36 (which is old by Hollywood standards), and Ben is younger than her. In a few years Ben will trade up for a younger chick and then she’ll see how it feels. She just LOOKS like a smug hag that’s way older than him.

Lawyers are expensive, but if you have the resources available to get the legalities sewn up, why wouldn’t you, unless you’re trying to stick it to your not-quite-ex?

    Ummmm my sister has been trying to get a divorce for over a year. Sometimes the courts can take a while. And sometimes controlling & possessive nincompoops draw out the process to hurt the person leaving them. Of course she doesn’t want her ex mentioned, why should he be a footnote in her new story?

    (That being said, if the “journalist” or media outlet had any ethical standards, the ex would be mentioned regardless of her wishes.)

      Depends on the state. Some have “irrebuttable presumptions” that the father of a child is the spouse. Others don’t. I have no idea what the law is in California.

      Nope, the actual father would be, regardless of her being married to someone else unless she said otherwise, which is doubtful.

      I was thinking this initially, but she IS/has divorced her previous husband. She had just had a baby with him before dating Ben, and they are pregnant and I believe engaged? so that leaves them out.

      as for the birth certificate, it should be the bio-father, regardless of who she’s married to. (which is my only complaint against the gay couples demanding same sex parents be listed on birth certificates, as these are supposed to be records of genealogy, leave the rest to marriage…

      Whoever it is, they need to check with their lawyers. Many years ago in the state of PA, I knew people who were involved in a similar situation there, and the law (which varies by state) there at the time was that any child born in a marriage was considered a child of the husband regardless of DNA. Applied to both child support and visitation rights.
