[Blind Gossip] When a celebrity reveals something deeply personal out of the blue, the first question you should ask is, “Why?”

This famous singer claims that she decided to reveal a personal health issue before someone else could exploit her secret.

However, before you start patting her on the back for being such a hero, check this out:

She didn’t do it because she is brave. This is all part of her legal defense. She is going to claim that when those things happened she was “sick” and “off her meds” so she can’t be held criminally responsible for her behavior.

    I knew this admission was baloney as soon as the lawsuit news followed the People mag exclusive. Isn’t it amazing that she was “diagnosed” 19 years ago but only “recently sought treatment?” That said, it IS a great plan and will go a long way in mitigating claims made by her terrifying ex-manager.

    Well, no. I’m sure Mariah went public with the news simply to get ahead of Stella leaking it. Everyone under the sun knew that woman was bad news that she was taking advantage of Mariah the entire time. Now it’s clear why Mariah was so easily manipulated.

    Mariah Carey saying she is bipolar.
    Normally I would say it won’t help, but didn’t Stella fire some of Mariah’s long term people? Is it possible she fired the people who had helped keep Mariah’s mess and health under control and created the chaotic situation? Mariah is sounding a bit like Brittany Spears and my need a conservator to help her.

    Mariah Carey revealing her bipolar disorder in light of the filing of a sexual harassment lawsuit by her manager. On the other side of the coin, if Mariah were a man accused of the same behavior towards a female employee, using a bipolar disorder diagnosis as an excuse would surely be met with some skepticism.

    I see an opportunist (who helped drive her career into the ditch) took advantage of this health disclosure and filed the lawsuit. Her lawyer blatantly threatened that if Mariah doesn’t settle, they’ll disclose embarrassing things. Which is basically extortion.

    Anyone who watched that trainwreck of a reality show, could see that she had the wrong “team” around her. They couldn’t even schedule her plane arrival in time for a concert. Total amateurs.

    Mariah Carey, and her bi-polar announcement. I wondered why she would come out with that, other than her strong desire to be the center of attention. But this would make sense with the sexual harassment charges being brought against her.

    Obvs Mariah Carey. Just revealed she’s been living with bipolar II since 2001, had a massive hit with “Hero.” Sneaky move on her part, but given that she has enough resources to have access to mental health professionals and appropriate treatment I doubt it will exculpate her entirely.

      I remember back in 200…2? I don’t know, years ago, she went crazy and skipped a load of commitments due to it and it was a headache for her record label (my dad’s friend worked for their legal dept). I don’t doubt she has mental health issues but I think her revealing it now is a tactical ploy.
