No AA on AA Day

[Blind Gossip] This actor or actress has been trying to lead a clean, healthy life. However, they promised themselves that if they received an Academy Award nomination that they would have one little drink as a reward. Just one.

They got the call this morning that they DID get nominated – hooray! – and then promptly downed their beverage of choice. Before 6:00 a.m. It’s easy to sound happy in interviews when you start drinking at the crack of dawn.

Guess they’ll be skipping that meeting today. No A.A. on A.A. Day!

    I reckon Mel Gibson.

    It was iffy that he’d be nominated, whereas Casey was a sure thing, so I doubt he’d say ‘if im nominated’.

    I saw Mel Gibson recently going into a precinct that only has a supermarket and a bottle shop. I assumed he was going for the booze and felt bad when I found out he was sober. But maybe not…

    No idea. But in regards to any harm in one little drink? Yes. If you’re an alcoholic there’s no “I’m just gonna have one little drink”. One sip is the first step on the slippery slope back down to the bottom

    Mel Gibson?

    He had a very serious problem, I think it is crazy to risk the second chance he has miraculously been given, it only takes one to set off down that slippery slope. First you take a drink because you are happy, then what if you don’t win, another drink to console yourself? And before you know it you are back off the wagon. I understand some believe they can have the odd drink and be ok but is it worth the risk in finding out?

      This. I remember the story about him going into detox immediately after an extended yacht vacation.

    Don’t do it! Accept your addiction and abstain! Cognitive therapy, yoga, jogging, even prescribed anxiety medicine can help you. I too have anxiety/depression; but it is now managed. Best of luck to you!

    This screams Casey Affleck to me. And one little drink is one too many if you have a problem with alcohol.

    Casey Affleck, in 2016 he spoke about his father & other family being alcoholics and how he’d been sober for 3 years.

    Not really. But the second, third, fourth, fifth, etc are a real downer.

      Seriously? That was no rant. It was a carefully crafted script, heartfelt and genuine, and delivered with every ounce of skill the deserving actress Meryl Streep has. Just because you didn’t like what she had to say, doesn’t mean she was drunk!!
