    Here’s the deal though. If you reversed the genders, would anybody be talking like this? I mean, yeah, some women get called gold-diggers, but it seems ALL men who make less money (or none at all ) are shamed for letting “their woman” provide for them.
    I’m not saying he’s NOT in it for her money, I’m just saying it’s a horrible double standard. And Taraji seems like a pretty sharp cookie (haha) so she must be ok with it.

      Actually not. They give the income of the Crown Estates to the government and get 15% to pay for staff and upkeep of their properties. The only thing that the public pays for is the security and travel for the government. The POW pays taxes of 40% of his income from the Duchy of Cornwall. The Queen pays taxes on her income from the Duchy of Lancaster AND pays for her family from her personal income. They generate tourism. They give good value for money. The Queen is still working at 91.

      I’m from small central european country and our president cost us half of the money all royals get, and they are the best Advertisement a country could wish for. UK without the Royals would loose lot of its charm. My president does nothong besides being silly in public and breaking the law.

      as a Brit I agree with Spookie –
      Income from the Duchy of Lancaster and the Duchy of Cornwall – despite belonging to the nation – goes directly to the Queen and Prince Charles respectively, depriving the treasury of tens of millions of pounds every year. The real cost of the monarchy to British taxpayers is likely to be around £345m annually.
