[Blind Gossip] This actress will definitely be at the Golden Globe Awards this Sunday night. Good for her! We hope to see her on stage.
However, she has a problem. She doesn’t have a dress to wear. Uh oh!
She had a dress. It was custom made and very form fitting. There was no room for error or weight gain or breathing.
Well, she didn’t gain any weight, but something did go wrong in the final fitting… and it’s now at least an entire size too small! There is no way to let it out. They have to start all over.
Can you make an entire custom dress – including final fittings – in four days? Don’t know. She might just have to buy something off-the-rack like the rest of us mere mortals!

Squirrelnutkin says
Just looking at the Golden globes pictures and the related blind, I think this has to be Natalie Portman. Her dress looks like something pulled off the rack (vintage?) and doesn’t fit her well. It’s also too long. The related blind shows George Bush which makes me think presidential connection and Portman as Jackie Kennedy.
Squirrelnutkin says
Well, now I’m not so sure. Portman’s dress is Prada and an obvious nod to Jackie, so I think that dress was the plan all along. Maybe Amy Adams? Her dress was very form-fitting.

Someone from Westworld?
Perhaps Evan Rachel Wood or Thandie Newton?
Desertgirl says
I don’t know who this is but I’m going to guess the ‘something that happened’ is breast augmentation hence having to buy off the ‘rack’

Feels like Goop!

Something =pregnant? “can’t let it out” etc
itstarapagain says
I do think it’s Sofia with my theory being that once again, she’s expended her boobs and butt. She’s just a step above the Kardashians. Plus the connection to the mob guy in Miami
northernlight says
Don’t know who the woman is, but I used to live in West Africa. I never bought ready-made clothes there. Just went to a fabric stall, picked one of the beautiful prints on display, and took it to a tailor. You could point to a model on the wall–skirt, top, dress–and they would measure you. Alternatively, they would copy any clothing item you brought in (=American-style shirts and pants). This was 25 years ago, but if memory serves the tailoring costs were around $2-3/item.
stolidog says
I would guess it’s someone who recently had her breasts augmented, or someone pregnant, but I haven’t really followed actresses’ breast enhancements.

Natalie Portman because she’s preggers and nominated. Initially thought Goop but she’s not nominated or presenting so wouldn’t expect her to be onstage.

I like thisguess! I had no clue but thought for sure it was somebody preggars! Good job! ??????????
anarchistlibrarian says
i’ve no idea who this is, but i have made and tailored (in a most amateur fashion!) my own clothes. i’m short and stocky/hourglass, and poor, so screw boring, mainstream clothing, lol. 😀
sjt19 says
Amy Adams. And yes had somethong custom for my brother’s wedding. Was it worth it? Ah, no…
angelbratt says
Somebody suddenly preggers!
NativeAtlantaGirl says
No idea…
Designed my own prom dress and had it made – I can’t sew worth ____. I didn’t have to worry about anyone else wearing something similar. Amusingly, several girls had the same dress (quite the scandal!)
carriebradshaw says
no clue who’s this, probably someone like Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman or other actress wearing constantly Haute Couture- Jessica Chastain?
optional: custom tailormade-a wintercoat + lot of things made by my mum in my childhood, and later made by me for me.
actually my first winterjacket was made by mum, I’m from then comunist Eastern Europe, and 1981 there was literally nothing to buy, so she made one from her old jacket 🙂 now it sounds weird, but it was pretty normal at that time.

Actress: The insufferable Gwyneth Paltrow?
jbj2016 says
Even if the actress is plus-sized–which in Hollywood is like size 6–she will probably find designers who will help her out, especially if she already has a stylist.
Yes, I had a Mandarin-style dress made on NYC’s Mott Street for my prom. I was 4’11” and weighed 97lbs, yet still the seamstress clucked about my “fat” boobs and butt. I looked great, though!
kit e kat says
The chengosam, or so I was told by a Chinese fellow sewing class classmate, emphasizes the neck so the ideal proportions are flat, the better to make a streamlined look. I love the style but it never worked for my round face looks.
shelaur22 says
Jessica Chastain. She always wears dresses that are bursting at the seams purposely.
bhakti says
They do it on project runway in every episode. I’m confident the right designer will get the dress made perfectly for her in time
rorythedragon says
I have no idea who this is but anyone on Project Runway could do it in a day!
kspeedian says
Yeah! IDK who it is, but I thought the exact same thing. Actually, I thought, “If Project Runway is filming RN (which Inscrually don’t think it is but whatever) they could have them make it into a challenge! Lol but you’re right, any of them could do it times five. ALTHOUGH the season Jeffrey won, I went by Parsons (i’m a born & raised new yorker) to see the weekly winners hanging in the window and they all LOOKED like they were made in a day- aside from Jeffrey’s! Most looked WAY better…
kspeedian says
*which I actually
Nice try, autocorrect. Good for you!

Not sure who this is, but I used to order custom shirts from Hong Kong for my late husband. They were remarkable & well worth it. The first time he wore one to work a colleague asked him if he was interviewing for another job. When we actually went to Hong Kong he had custom suits made in just a few days. You can also get custom shoes made there. I didn’t have anything made for myself (other than a necklace) because I sewed, so was created to fit. Four days for a gown is plenty of time.
kit e kat says
I agree. I’ve sewed since I was 9 and have helped out in several prom emergencies for friend’s kids (including a special print tux vest made for a young man who’d just been accepted to a certain university!)
bubbasbbq says
I’ve had several sets of custom work/field boots, shoes and orthotics made. I can get away with off the shelf sneakers, but hard soled footware kill me. It is well worth the cost for me
carriebradshaw says
I suppose this is haute cuture and the most part of the work is this whole embellishing , embroidering etc. this can take several hundred hours per dress. dress itself is the easiest part.
oldnvygirl says
I’ve been to Hong Kong and done just that. I had pair of pants, 4 shirts, jacket and A dress made and My husband had two suits and A jacket made . All in a few days. So it’s possible!
alisons says
I once was the maid of honor in a wedding that was out of state. The bridal shop, instead of ordering me a 12, ordered me a size 2. There was no way to get another dress in the timeframe, so I took it to a custom shirtmaker on the Main Line (near Philly) and asked if there was anything they could do. Their answer – a classic – “Anything is possible, IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY.” Well, I certainly paid, but I have never had a garment fit me better. Total success, except wrt my bank balance.
