Fatty With Daddy

June 30, 2016 Blind Gossip

plant 2[Blind Gossip] This actor has very interesting philosophy on how to deal with his kid/s and substances!

When [his teen daughter] wanted to drink alcohol, he gave it to her and they got drunk together. When she wanted to smoke pot, he got it for her and they got stoned together. If there is some other drug she wants to try, he thinks it’s good parenting for him to be the one to provide it and control it. His logic is that this way if she will be less tempted to do things outside the home, or if she does, she won’t hide it from him.

My parents were the same when I was a kid, although anything beyond weed was a no-no. Sex, weed, cigarettes and booze were all fine if I was open with my parents about it. My parents knew I was fairly mature, and were smart,
When my friends would be all “OOoh I stole this bottle from my liquor cabinet!” I didn’t care to get drunk with them. I could go home and have a couple coolers. I never smoked cigarettes. I didn’t smoke weed until I was 22. I waited to have sex…. So much for…

What’s funny about the weed part of this BI, is that nobody seems to worry about the worst threat, Cancer! Why is it that most people now agree that smoking is dangerous and passe but they don’t view smoking weed in the same way???? And, on top of it, a joint or whatever hipsters call it now, has no filter! This is the part that is just shocking to me. They seem to forget that not only does it make you a dumb, half-baked moron, but it ruins your lungs at the same time.

recently, my son asked during dinner and fun after, if he could have a beer. I said ok. My parents said he’s 18 can he drink beer? I said “he can have a beer” “he’s not a big drinker.” He is far more interested in physical fitness and basketball. I also happen to know that he and his older sister and their friends smoke weed. I do not nor have I ever in front of them or any other drugs. From time to time they have people over and they smoke in the yard. No big deal #sorrynotsorry

    Will Smith

The Smiths are terrible parents. They’re kids are totally unprepared for the realities of adulthood. They’re in for a very rude awakening and it’s all their parent’s fault.

For the posters who say “I don’t judge” well, the law will judge. If you’re letting your underage kid get drunk with your permission, that is considered abuse. I have no problem “judging” this terrible behavior. It isn’t like they let the kid have an inch of wine in a glass – it said “Getting Drunk.” There’s a huge difference.

I’m gonna guess a different Smith Family…I think this is Kevin Smith and his daughter Harley Quinn. I wouldn’t do this with my girls but who am I to judge anyone else?

  12. eryncuz88 says

    July 1, 2016 at 7:04 am

    Maybe Will Smith?

My aunt and uncle told me about a decade ago, when I saw my 16 year old cousin throwing back beer after beer, that they didn’t care if she got drunk at home when they were around, so that way should could build her tolerance and understand how she felt when drunk and would know better when she got drunk outside the house.

It didn’t make much sense to me then, and still doesn’t make sense now. To each their own!

Never understood why this ‘logic’ seems reasonable to anyone. Kids rebel in some way or another. You hide things from your parents if you don’t respect their opinion or trust their judgement. If your parent gets drunk/high with teens, why would you respect them? They’re just your cool friend at that point. To prove you’re your own person you’ll have to take it up a notch. Booze/weed is now lame by association.

Can’t guess who it is, cause this stupidity is rife in Hollywood.

  17. carriebradshaw says

    July 1, 2016 at 2:22 am

Bad idea. My sister in law also thaught pot is harmless, she smoked pot in her youth. Her son went to rehab three times because of pot. We hope this time it works. All his friends smoke and drink like normal people, he can’t stop, but he was the only one who was allowed to do this, all his friends were raised normal, with bans and consequences.

    Johnny Depp is my guess.
Awful parenting. Why not just desencorage the kid? If she becomes a junkie he’ll be feeling guilty for being the one introducing drugs to her in the first place.

  24. LooLoo says

    June 30, 2016 at 9:03 pm

Honestly, it isn’t the worst idea I’ve ever heard. This makes it less forbidden and helps her to understand how these substances affect her. It also keeps communication about substances like that open with her father. I’m guessing Johnny Depp?

  25. lolachristina says

    June 30, 2016 at 8:47 pm

    will smith
optional: if it is will smith probably not good parenting considered willow is only 15. Maybe if she were a bit older the alcohol part would be okay. I had friends in high school whose parents allowed them to drink alcohol at home and since they were allowed to have it at home they didn’t drink outside the home

    and it’s bad parenting IMO

  27. Themehgetarian says

    June 30, 2016 at 8:30 pm

Nikolai Coster-Waldau is my guess. He talked recently on The Nerdist podcast about being worried about his teen daughter experimenting with alcohol and drugs, so he let her get drunk in the house so she could learn her lessons.

  28. celebiddy says

    June 30, 2016 at 8:26 pm

No idea. But it really depends on the kid and the parents. I have a few friends who smoked weed with their dads as teens and most at least were allowed to drink on family holidays. But they were all responsible kids with good grades, extracurriculars, manners, etc their parents were just successful chill hippies. But i could also see how this is a terrible idea especially with hard drugs obvi

Horrible parenting! My kids are teens, so I’ve been reading up on this. He should be doing everything he can to prevent his kids from trying alcohol or drugs, because the younger they are when they try it, the more likely they are to become addicted.

    • spookie says

      July 2, 2016 at 10:21 pm

I’m inclined to disagree with you. I was a rebellious teen, I had my first sneaky drink at 13, my first joint at 14….. but never became addicted to either. The key is moderation and being happy in yourself.

Ice Cube. Other than that I have no clue.

Good parenting or bad parenting? I think it depends on if the kid is good. My step father had the same philosophy. It’s nothing like seeing your mother take a bong hit. It f^cked me up. After that I was done until my late 20’s.

Sleazy. Cringeworthy. As a parent, you sign on to model the behavior you want to see in your kid. You can’t be perfect, but you can at least not facilitate illegal acts going on in your home.
If she decides to have sex, I’m guessing he’ll want to hang out in the room and critique her performance…

The Jolie-Pitt kids are too young. Will Smith?

If the parent already uses the substances, and it sounds like to excess, then this is probably actually a pretty sound strategy. I have allowed my kids to drink alcohol under my roof, but never to excess. I would rather teach sound drinking practices, like you can enjoy a drink or two without getting hammered. Since I don’t use any other substances, I wouldn’t encourage or enable my kids to use it either.

    • mar1ey says

      July 2, 2016 at 10:35 am

When I was young, my parents and my friend’s parents allowed us to have alcohol, as long as we were supervised. We didn’t get drunk, and we were responsible. Now, however, parents who do this are being arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. I saw nothing wrong with it then, nor with it now. I’m glad I grew up when I did.

No idea who (although I wouldn’t put it past Will Smith), but it’s bad parenting. Teach your kids to stand up to peer pressure and show them the horrible things that happen to drug addicts and alcoholics, and they’ll be less tempted. That’s what my mom did and I was never tempted in the least.

I can see this. His baby mama is French and they’re pretty easy-going about wine even w/ young adolescents; Depp’s definitely a pothead.
Good or bad? Assuming it’s actually more like, had a couple drinks or shared a joint, and also NO family history of addiction — it depends on the kid, but I could see this being just fine. Addiction is more heredity than anything. And if more people didn’t get the thrill of hiding it, maybe they’d take it more seriously, and/or be less enthralled.
