First, although he may deny it, his song was absolutely about his famous ex-girlfriend. Second, during rehearsal, he gave very specific instructions that the camera was not to pan to her at any time during his performance.

    This is already solved by everyone else, but I still wanted to give my answer to the Optional part: Biebs wanted the attention on himself, and not on Selena……because she would get the sympathy, at his expense, and he’s trying to improve his image.

    The song that is about her is Where are U now, and he has denied it’s not about her. I think he wanted all the attention to himself and the people performing with him. As a matter a fact the camera didn’t pan to anyone in the audience during his performance and on his acoustic rendition the camera was super close to his face it was comical.
    ps- Love yourself was written by Ed Sheeran, so definitely not about selena.

    I think he did it because he didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable with everyone analyzing her reaction to the song.

    Obviously beiber but I don’t think it’s about her.

    Ed sheeran wrote the majority of the lyrics. I think beiber was given credit just so he can been seen as a credible artist.

    The song “Where Are You Now” was definitely written about Selena and in Bieber’s interviews he has always diverted from answering yes to it but some what implied that it was. The song “Love Yourself ” was written by Ed Sheeran and it was NOT about Selena but inspired about one of Ed’s past relationships. The reason he didn’t want the cameras on Selena is because he really wanted her to stay this time and watch his Grammy performance unlike The AMA”s & VMA’s where she left to avoid…

    That’s Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. I was thinking that the words could certainly refer to her, and a lot of couples their age that break up. I actually think not panning to her was a nice request of Justin, regardless of his motive. Maybe he has a soul and didn’t want her to be embarrassed by the implication that he wrote it about her? This is no place for that kind of drama, especially if they both want to be taken seriously as adults in the industry.
