Bradley Cooper Is Cartoonish

January 13, 2017 Blind Gossip

[Rotoscopers] This rumor relates to a project brewing at Warner Bros. Pictures. Only this time, it’s not an animated movie. Rather, the studio is currently bouncing around the idea of developing a beloved Hanna-Barbera property as a live-action film.

From what I’ve heard, the screenplay is already written and is being bounced around to different directors. Three of the names mentioned as being on the studio’s shortlist are Justin Lin (Fast and Furious movies, Star Trek Beyond), Scott Derrickson (Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange), and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block, co-writer on Adventures of Tintin and Ant-Man). Production discussions are meant to begin at this time, assuming that things have fallen into place.

The studio also has a wish list of actors for a ‘high-profile’ male supporting role. Among the actors being looked at (possibly as shoo-ins) are Bradley Cooper, Idris Elba, and Will Smith.

Now, for some hints and clues as to what this property is. Yes, it was a TV show that was popular back in the 60’s (really the peak period for Hanna-Barbera). Yes, characters from this property will appear as part of a planned shared universe of animated films based on Hanna-Barbera’s overall library of properties (beginning with S.C.O.O.B. in 2018). No, the live-action film won’t take place within that universe (obviously). The most I can tell you is that the live-action film is being developed on a separate track, with hopes that it will (of course) launch its own film franchise.

My last hint, to end the article: the property in question is NOT Scooby-Doo!

Either Space Ghost or The Jetsons… If it is The Jetsons, it’s probably going to be considered as dated since most of the gadgets that were in the show are what we often use today.

And if it’s Space Ghost… not a good choice. So, naaahhhh

The most popular Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the 60s are The Flintstones and The Jetsons. I’ll guess The Jetsons since they’ve never been on the big screen as far as I know unless its a Flintstones remake.

    Wacky Races?

Separate track, ‘high profile’ – Dastardly has an iconic side profile as does Cooper, ‘bounced around’, ‘fall into place’ and ‘launch’ all describe various eccentric ways the cars in wacky races can move. ‘Only this time’ and ‘shoo-in’ sound like the narrator.

The desired inclusion of Justin Lin would make sense if there’s car racing in the movie.

After Cooper’s turn as the Raccoon I would keep an open mind to him playing Dick Dastardly if that’s the role…

  25. buffyfaith says

    January 14, 2017 at 5:11 am

I think the show is “The Impossibles.”

It was on in the late 60’s (as part of the “Frankenstein Jr & The Impossibles” hour) and it has three parts for male actors: Multi Man, Fluid Man, and Coil Man. The blind states those three actors could be “shoo-ins” meaning they’d each get a part, not that they are up for the same part. There’s also no mention of women for any high-profile part, which would leave out any of the other Hanna Barbera ‘toons.

  26. Kerengende says

    January 14, 2017 at 3:43 am

    You keep saying ‘bouncing around’.

There is *no* way you could be referring to ‘The Impossibles’, could you?
That’s the only thing I could think you’re referring to….a cartoon that featured three superheroes, and one of them was Coil Man, who did bounce around. That was his schtick. I wasn’t impressed by it back when they used it as bumper filler in the early days of Cartoon Network.

Just looked it up and a show that lasted one season can’t possibly be considered…

I think ‘bounced around’ and ‘shoo-in’ are also clues but can’t figure out how.
Top Cat and Hong Kong Fooey feel like they could be the answer also.
Heck, I have no clue really and probably wouldn’t see a live version of any of them. I think they are products of their time and should be left there

Track and launch make me think of Speed Buggy.

But I don’t know how they would fit an adult character into the story, or why anyone would want to remake it, let alone a live action.

Yes, Bradley Cooper will deliver a deeply moving interpretation of the angst-ridden
    Fleegle, from Banana Splits.

    TV Show: The Flintstones

Yes, I would go see it if it got good reviews. It takes many US movies at least 6 months to open over here in Europe, so I’ll have plenty of time to hear about it, first.

They already did Flintstones and Yogi.

    Could this be The Jetsons?

No. I would never watch Bradley Cooper as George Jetson.
