A Taxing Situation

April 12, 2017 Blind Gossip

[Blind Gossip] This actor hit it big after he landed a role in a profitable franchise.

During the lean years, though, he forgot something: To pay his taxes!

He didn’t have a lot of money, so he simply skipped filing for a few years. He’s very worried that his failure to file will catch up to him and he’ll wind up in jail for tax fraud!

We don’t know if the IRS sends people to jail for failing to file/pay their taxes. If they do, it would certainly interfere with his busy filming schedule!

BG Note: A gentle reminder that Tax Day is Tuesday, April 18 2017.

[Optional] Do you wait until the last minute to file your taxes?

If he didn’t file during those “lean” years then he likely will not even have to owe anything?

The IRS can’t “withhold” from zero earnings???

the tax on zero is still zero.

No earnings or littl earnings = little or no tax.

I don’t know who he is but Robert Downey Jr had some wild years.
If the guy is smart, he will hire a lawyer and pay the taxes and penalties, it’s not the same if you are the one who decide to pay and explain why you didn’t pay before that if you are caught, in that case the excuses will sound lame no matter how valid they are

Don’t know, but it depends on who you are regarding going to prison for tax evasion. Wesley Snipes went to prison, Al Sharpton is still free….

This is what I don’t understand: he has money for an accountant and back taxes now. I would RACE to to get them in before they come to me. Maybe it is different in the US?

    Someone from F & F?

I have a family member who reportedly never paid taxes — if they owe you, they won’t do anything. If you owe them, though… watch out!

Dunno who this is, but he should get this straightened out with the IRS right now. Better to pay a fine and clear your record than let this problem accumulate–and have to pay tax lawyers to fix it. Too many celebrities fall into this trap and lose everything.

Don’t know who it is, but its never too late to fix it until it is too late. Ask Wesley Snipes.

The IRS only sends people to jail AFTER they’ve been repeatedly warned via official letters and summons that if they don’t pay, they will put a lien on their assets and start garnishing their wages. If the assets don’t cover the liability and if the person in question evades the IRS (doesn’t respond), then yes, they’ll be arrested. The big thing is you have to answer the IRS or else.

Hmmm…not picking up any clues, but this guy is dumb.

Hubby and I are both self-employed, so since we never get a tax refund we e-file just before midnight on April 30 every year (Canadian).

“The Situation” from Jersey Shore, but I think calling him an actor is a stretttttttttch!

  27. Baileygirl says

    April 12, 2017 at 1:34 pm

They sent Al Capone to jail for tax evasion so, yes they do put people in jail. If not that, they will garnish his wages until the debt is paid. Adding up the interest and penalties, most people take the jail term and settle for some monies to be paid. If you have a professional tax preparer do your taxes, penalties are not attached.
I have no idea who the actor is, but he better get a good CPA and a tax attorney and get himself out of the glue-PRONTO!

    • stinkerbell says

      April 13, 2017 at 10:58 am

They were looking for any possible reason to send Capone to jail. They couldn’t pin him for anything else so they went for something minor like tax evasion.

    • memary says

      April 13, 2017 at 1:42 pm

Exactly! Of course they send you to jail when you jack around with your taxes! Just ask
      Wesley Snipes!

Nah, he didn’t pay his taxes because he just didn’t have the money to pay them. That’s not fraud.

He just needs to file for those years and pay the requisite penalties. A good tax lawyer will be able to walk him through this.
