A Big Transition

[Blind Gossip]  As this is such a sensitive topic, we’re going to be a little coy as to whether this newsy guy is an anchor, a host, or a journalist. You all know his name, though.

He is working on a major change in his life.

No, we’re not talking about him quitting or getting divorced or moving from one media outlet to another.

We’re talking about him changing his gender!

There are a few relatives and friends who have known about this for a year or so, but no one at work knows yet. He is unsure as to how it will impact his career.

He is working with medical professionals to plan out his transition, but there are a lot of steps along the way and it could take several years.

It should be an interesting journey!

    Loads of guesses are those of gay men. But gender identity and sexuality are separate things one is not necessarily related to the other.

    Oh btw I haven’t a clue about who it could be, I do like the suggestion that it’s Sean Hannity though.

    First thought was Anderson Cooper.

    I’d be as supportive as I could. I don’t know a lot about the medical side of things but I’d try to research much as I could as well.

    I was joking earlier when I said Hannity. But thinking about it, I believe it’s Don Lemon. His face has changed in the last year or so. His face looks less masculine. I used to think he was wearing extra make-up. Now I wonder if he’s had some plastic surgery touch ups.

    Only guessing Anderson Cooper because his Mom just passed away. There were certain things I wanted to do in my life, although not nearly as drastic as gender reassignment, that I waited to do until after my mother was gone. It wasn’t just because she wouldn’t approve, but because it would cause her a great deal of stress and worry, and I just didn’t want to put her through that. Who ever it is, I wish the person all the best for the happiest life and future!

    Ronan. Mia messed those kids up so much. I would advise my friend to live their lives any way they wish, but to be very, very sure before having any life altering irreversible surgeries.

    Why is everyone assuming that the person transitioning would be a gay male. There could be a man living in a heterosexual relationship who now wants to transition. I’m not sure who it is, but I don’t think we should limit our guesses to only openly gay anchors.

    I know a lot of transgender people through my work and it’s hard enough for them to come out. We must be accepting. It’s the only response.

    Shep Smith?

    Very sensitive topic, but, a friend of mine I had known for years who is a man who has always felt like a woman got drunk and told me he wanted to come unto to me as a woman/ man in drag after he had came out to me a year before. Problem is…I am a straight woman who was trying to be a friend. It is awkward because I think he thought “being there” was that I was accepting to that “personally.” It can be awkward for everyone involved. :/

    Probably wrong, but I’ll guess anyway…Anderson Cooper (his mother just passed away so maybe he was waiting for that). I’m intrigued that the blind ended with “it should be an interesting journey;” is that to hint that person is indeed a journalist? Most likely, it’s probably not AC. He seems (to me anyway) like he wouldn’t be interested in transitioning even if he felt like he would want to.

    Sean Hannity Would make a good looking woman. Plus he won’t have to change his name since Sean can be male or female.

    I have no idea on this journalist guy.
    If someone close were transitioning, I would hope they had extensive psychological help beforehand. I would accept them and love them and not hurt their feelings, but the truth is that are still the biological sex they were at birth. So, I believe in science and biology and don’t accept they are a man or woman, but I would pray that they are happier in living as the opposite sex.

    my child is transitioning (ftm), and it’s brutal enough in private – i can’t imagine someone going through it publicly, but as my son says, it’s not “brave”, exactly, it’s just something that a person *has* to do in order to function and be their true self. whoever it is, i wish them the best!! 🙂

    Mixed feelings about this. It doesn’t matter to me who, how, what someone wants to be—But I do think it’s not an easy choice and there’s so much fall out on so many levels, that I wonder if it’s worth it. Life is hard enough, but then again, be you!

    Op- probably depends on the individual – but would be supportive of their decision.

    I would be happy and sad at the same time. Most of all “I would be supportive” and “Protective” of him or her.

    I am going to say Anderson Cooper because 1. His mother just passed away so he may feel freer to do so now plus 2. I haven’t listened to him in years but when I did recently, I definitely detected that his voice was higher pitched but I could not figure out why. If he’s been practicing for a transition, I can see why.

    Optional: Very flustered. I mean, it’s their life and they need to be happy but I am not particularly into that means of finding happiness.

    If anyone close to me transitioned, they would have my full support. I can’t imagine what it must be like to fell like you’re born in the wrong body. I can’t imagine the psycological impact something like that will have on someone.

    Optional: gotta admit, I’d be shocked and confused, but if they were OK with it, I’d adjust. Just might take a while.

    Optional – My 25-year old nephew is in the process of transitioning to female. She said she’s never been so happy. It was a big shock at first but now everyone in my family is used to itand we are all supporting her, including my 87-year old father.

      so happy for your niece! it *is* often shocking at first (my ftm son’s transition *seemed* to come out of nowhere). to have the entire family on board…? that’s so often not the case, so there are (happy) tears in my eyes. i wish all of you the best!! ❤️

      I think it is Shep Smith – just a gut feeling. I think Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon are comfortable where they are. Could be Ronan Farrow, but I am going with Shep.

      Supportive – always – look to Sade (yes that Sade) for inspiration with her son.

      I would love to see Sean Hannity coming out as trans, but I’m thinking Ronan Farrow.

      I would support anyone who felt transitioning is right for them. It’s not something people do lightly and it’s usually after that person has been through years of emotional hell.
