[Blind Gossip] There is a good-looking dual-celebrity couple that broke up in the past year. He is a movie actor. She also has a high-profile job.

As is usual with celebrity couples, their public statements all say that the split was amicable.

Also, per usual, they say that they are committed co-parenting and doing what is best for their child/ren.

Since they both work and travel a lot, there are frequent hand-offs from one parent to the other.

To their credit, they do strive to do the hand-offs in person whenever possible. This enables them to personally confirm schedules, communicate instructions, and signal to the child/ren that both parents care and are working together as a team.

Cool.

Except… let’s talk about a recent hand-off!

They met at the airport. She barely looked at him and she did not say anything to him at all. She just walked up to him and handed him some documents. She seemed angry. Then she turned around, went back, gathered up the child/ren and their things, brought everything over to him and handed them off. Again, did not say a word to him, did not even look at him. She said goodbye to the child/ren, but not to [Her Ex].

Yikes! That’s not cool. That’s downright chilly!

Well, at least it’s better than them sitting at the same table, not speaking to each other, and pretending to like each other!

    You have to respect the mother or father of your child or children. Your child would be crushed to lose a parent. Caring for the child’s mother or father is crucial for them to grow up happier than two parents who are wretched to each other.

    I tried hard to work out the couple with no luck.
    But my advice would be that remember the children are innocent of any of the responsibility for the break up and rely on them as parents to show that, at the end of the day, everything will be OK. They love unconditionally so do not try to harm their love for you or your ex. Remember that to them you are still mom and dad. A cohesive unit. Not ex partners. So find your balance. You do not need to be Pollyanna at every meet but show respect.

    When the kids are present, bite your tongue and be cordial to each other. If not, the kids might think it’s their fault that the parents fight. Considering these two voluntarily signed a contract, Irina has no reason to be so upset.

    Best tip: if ex is purposely baiting you, ignore it. It’ll annoy them and take the wind out of their sails if you keep ignoring baiting, and you feel more at peace for doing it.

    *My advice would be first and foremost, don’t use the child/ren as a weapon to get back at the ex, or allow to witness anything but cordial relations between the parents. Rip your ex a new one behind closed doors.
    Make the children a priority and not a burden. Sometimes personal sacrifices are needed to ensure a child’s well being.

    Best tips from someone who has been there: don’t badmouth other parent; don’t introduce your new significant other too soon, especially if you were cheating with that person (KIDS KNOW!); don’t lie if you are cancelling your plans with your kids; listen to your kids.
