Sandra And George And Rules

[Blind Gossip] When someone is leaving rehab, they are usually given a set of guidelines to help them maintain their newfound sobriety.

Even if you’ve never been to rehab yourself, if you’ve seen the movie 28 Days starring Sandra Bullock, you are familiar with these rules. Some of them include 1. Don’t drink 2. Don’t date 3. Go to meetings.

This actor’s wife has been stalling on finalizing their divorce, hoping against hope that he would take rehab seriously and take the need for sobriety seriously.

Well, our actor is no Sandra Bullock. While her character managed to stay sober after she left rehab, our actor went 0-for-3 on the rules within days of getting out.

His wife is not happy about this.

She is now resigned to the fact that he is never going to get sober. She says he is like Danny Ocean planning his next robbery the first day he gets our of jail in Ocean’s 11. He’s incorrigible.

Interesting analogy… but our actor is no George Clooney, either!

    I can’t imagine having to protect your children from their father… supervised visits (how dysfunctional is that for the kids)? Random testing? Telling the kids to call her if they see him drinking – they are old enough to recognize…

    I think it’s good that she’s going on with the divorce and her life. Obviously, he really doesn’t think he’s hit bottom, yet.

    Having been through the overdose/near death/rehab/struggle for sobriety/relapse/repeat sad cycle, I understand her pain.

    This situation was a sibling. I couldn’t imagine a husband/co-parent. The kids are most at risk for long term trauma so she has to move forward with them in mind (not saying she’s not). Regardless, I’ve read that Jennifer Garner just filed a request in court to speed up the divorce. I hope she can move forward knowing she’s doing the right thing. Best wishes to her.

    He will LOVE that you used the word, ‘incorrigible’ to describe him. He sees himself as the incorrigible rogues everyone hates but loves.

    Jen has done her time. She held on long enough for him to come back to her, tail between his legs and determined to be the husband and father they all deserved, but it wasn’t going to happen. She must realise now that he loves himself more than her and more than their kids. And he loves other women as well as her.

    Optional: I’m about to get out of mine. When you have young children involved and you are with an alcoholic, especially one that doesn’t want to get help, you have to protect the children first in every way possible.

    Actor: Mr. Aflleck of course. Please Ms. Garner: finalize the settlement and divorce. Move on with your life and and your children’s lives. And above all: insist on a lump sum settlement of child support (college, etc.) now. Don’t rely on or expect this sad example of a human being to be able to work much longer if at all ever again. Secure your children’s future now and let him sink into the gutter.

    Jen needs to realize that she, his children, his career, his reputation – none of these are as interesting or important to Ben as alcohol, sex, and the freedom to do whatever he wants to do are. It’s a losing battle, and she will never get him to do what he doesn’t want to do.

    Jennifer and Ben will divorce when she gives up trying to convince the public the choice is hers. I LOVE that Jennifer is trying float the myth that Ben wants to remain married to her, he’s shown her otherwise for a few years now. Time to walk.

    Clues: the rehab bit, the 0-3, his wife not being happy and stalling on divorce while hoping for his sobriety.

    Optional: Yeah, I do. She’s done all she can do and even to the point of enabling. Affleck wants to p!ss away his life this way, so let him. He’s only fooling himself if he thinks he can continue to make movies, pull in an audience, and get beautiful young women at this clip. Plus his health looks pretty bad right now.

    Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner ? I know from experience how heartbreaking it is to watch the person you love more than anything in the world destroy themselves. It is so hard to decide when to draw the line, because you want to do everything you can to be supportive, but eventually you have to think about yourself, and, in this case, the children. Unfortunately her giving up and moving forward with the proceedings may still not be the wake up call he needs.

    We all know Ben Affleck will never get help until he hits rock bottom. And, obviously losing his family doesn’t matter to him. Typical selfish addict behavior. And, the more Jennifer tries to “fix” him, the faster he’ll run away and resent her. Just let him go, and focus on your kids. He doesn’t need a mother.

    Ben Affleck is going to drink himself to death at this rate. I’m honestly baffled by the photos of him popping up with headlines referring to him being ‘buff’. He looks so bloated and puffy from all the booze and like he’s just got 4 girdles on squishing it all up toward his chest.

    Jennifer Garner is correct. Ben has to want sobriety. She needs to move on with her life. Otherwise she enables Ben by always being there to pick up the pieces.

    Jennifer Garner can’t heal Ben Affleck from his alcoholism. She needs to move on and let him crash and burn.

    Hate to say it but I think Ben will die young. He obviously doesn’t take his problems seriously, that’s why he often took daily breaks from rehab and is also now dating a 22yo Playboy Bunny.

    optional: yes, she has to let him do whatever he want. she is not responsible for his wellbeing. but there is one bright spot, a thing most woman in her situation painfully missing- even if they had twice as much children she is able to do it on her own, with one, flexible job, even if her husband is on huge drunking mess. and- and this is my personal experience- even if their father is an a**hole, they have a great mother and this is worth very, very much.

    I appreciate her attempts to help but she needs to move on. You can’t help someone who doesn’t want it.

    I’m side-eyeing the headlines saying he completed a 40-day treatment program. He really didn’t. I don’t consider a short stint in rehab (considering his lifelong chronic inability to stay sober despite consequences) where he constantly skipped out to business meetings etc., “completing” a rehab program. I’ve never disliked Affleck and wish him the best but come on. He has too many ‘yes’ men and he needs LONG TERM treatment.
