They stopped speaking to each other. She blames him for the tepid ticket sales. She thinks that he and his fans are just too old. She says, “I’m contemporary. He’s ancient.” The irony is that she didn’t want to pair up with anyone hotter or younger than her on the tour, so this is what she got!

Sounds like they are really not enjoying life on the road together. However, contractual obligations mean that they are stuck with each other for the time being!

    I saw them in concert at the Hollywood Bowl. They couldn’t have been more different. She lurched embarrassingly around the stage on stripper heels that she couldn’t walk (much less dance) in, in one of the most self-consciously awkward performances that I have EVER seen. He, on the other hand, was a consumate showman that got the audience up on their feet dancing, and singing along. No wonder she doesn’t want to be there…..too much contrast.

    Lionel would’ve done fine without her, just play smaller venues. I blame the promoter #1, and Ritchie for going along with the idea. Mariah is a mess and hooking your star to her wobbly-wagon is a recipe for disaster.

    Totally Mariah’s fault. She’s lazy when she performs. She can’t hit her high notes like she used to. She’s a waste of money to buy on ticket sales. The girl doesn’t know how to put on a show. I’d rather listen to her old albums from the 80’s/90’s.

    Mariah is delusional. Mimi hasn’t been relevant for almost a decade now. Her latest releases and projects have all crashed and burned. She should have known better than to partner herself with a performer who was obsolete even before the 80’s were over.
    Mariah’s ego and insecurity have inflicted further deterioration, her failing pipes notwithstanding. She should’ve paired up with someone closer in age and modernity.

      @thisisannoying. you think she hasn’t sung well in years cos you only know this by the few bad performances you’ve seen that’s gone viral? mariah’s an inconsistent performer. when she is having a good day. she is almost as good as her prime. 2 years ago, i went to 6 mariah shows in the space of 3 weeks. 1/6 was unbelievable fantastic. 1/6 of the shows was completely horrible. this was over the space of 3 weeks so it’s a very short space of time but very different experiences

    when it was first announced. mariah fans knew it was a bad idea because the fanbases of both lionel and mariah are different. Mariah fans are not interested in lionel and lionels fans aren’t interested in mariah. Fans have been confused on why mariah would agree to do a tour with someone who has a different fanbase. some fans have sent hate messages to mariah’s manager about it and got blocked by her manager. lol

    Kacey has a smaller fan base who are the younger stoner type of country fans. They aren’t big money spenders. Blaming it on Willie, who has more fans and whose main demographic is (now)middle class 40+ who are spenders is ridiculous. If this is them, it’s a shame. Ironically, Kacey is one of the only contemporary acts I’d paid to see. Not now.

      To expand on my comment, I was always very impressed with her talent in her earlier career. But she is so desperate for attention and over-the-top with her diva persona in the last several years that she has really tarnished entire legacy with that. It’s a shame.

      @Carlicakes, you are wrong. her fans me included had planned on booking plane tickets and all that to see her but we ain’t going to do all that, spend all that money and effort to see mariah for 30 minutes. the problem is her fanbase isn’t into lionel and lionels fanbase isn’t into mariah so at the moment a bunch of us mariah fans are waiting for her to announce a tour just herself where she performs for 2 hours. her fans aren’t going to travel and spend money to see her for 30 minutes.

      Just cos you don’t like mariah doesn’t mean she hasn’t done anything for music.
      Unlike whitney, celine and beyonce, Mariah has actually written her songs and she’s written 16 out of her 18 number 1s. she’s the only diva that writes her own songs. she originally wrote Hero for Gloria Estafan. she is a real songwriter. Vision of love, someday etc where on her demo tape and written when she was 16 before she got signed which is proof that she actually writes her own songs.

      ILoveNutellam- She like most other singers has writing partners. They tend to do the heavy lifting while the singers change a few things and then add their names to the credits. Also many singers who like to say they write their own songs tend to have ghost writers.

      Ben Margulies wrote every hit on her debut album including Vision of Love. Not Mariah.

    Mimi is the ISSUE! I wouldn’t mind spending $$ to see Lionel but that woman is a turn off. Lionel attracts a diverse, older crowd. Friends that have seen him in the past had a great time and he delivered. I have friends going to the show this weekend and its because the tickets were cheap and they are die hard Lionel fans …practically giving them away. Lionel DESERVES BETTER!

      Curiously that pair worked really well together. Maybe because she really admires him.
      This is about Mariah and Lionel. Mariah was the ultimate diva of her time (in a good sense) but she needs to understand she is not at her prime anymore.
      People like The rolling stones or Bruce Springsteen, or Elton John did their transition to not so in fashion but with a lot of fans gracefully. Others like Madonna are having a tough time adjusting to the new reality

      I would agree it’s Lady Gags and Tony Bennett cheek to cheek tour. People who loves Tony Bennett is unlikely to want to hear Lady Gaga , and people are who are into Lady Gaga’s music are unlikely to want to hear Tony Bennett.

    I am a fan of both of their music but Mariah is so lost in fantasy. She truly has no idea how she is perceived and nothing is EVER her fault in her own blown up mind. Touring with her would be a nightmare. I think she lost a lot of fans after her reality show and her NYE performance. It was the final straw.

      I know soooooo many people who aren’t ‘fans’ of hers but would still pay to see her. The problem is, they’ve done so and her shows are RUBBISH. Cheap graphics, boring dancers, crappy costumes. urgh.

      I’m a huge lamb and always have been. Probably always will be. But her concerts aren’t worth the money. I only ever go to see her tangents – where she gets cross at the production team for their mistakes (*eye roll*) etc.

    I’m a huge fan of Mariah but she’s got some bad press from her lacklustre, can’t be assed performances. Buck up your ideas Mariah!

      I agree — the people who would go to see Lionel probably have no interest in seeing her. He could have done some small venues and been just fine on his own.
