For those who don’t know, “Becky with the good hair” roughly translates to a dumb, non-black girl. The modern origin of the nickname goes back to Sir Mix a Lot’s Baby Got Back, where you have one dumb white Valley girl saying to another “Oh… my… God, Becky, look at her butt. It is so big!… She’s just so… black!”

The mysterious Becky of Beyonce’s song supposedly had an affair with Jay-Z. Everybody has a different opinion of which of the couple’s “friends” it could be.

    I agree it’s a composite of all the women in this album. Kanye has thrown shade to Taylor Swift in defense to Beyonce somehow. I don’t know if she did anything with JayZ but I have no doubt, he probably tried to hook up with her or said something about her in front of Beyonce to tick her off.

    The whole thing is a publicity stunt. He always cheated on her, and he always will. She’s no feminist. She married a cheater for her career and money. Otherwise her career would be nowhere like the other people in her group.

    OK I’m changing my guess on the cheating blind from the other day. I guessed Damon Dash was the one Posh had an affair with, but I now think it was Jay Z. The blind the other day made out like the person Posh cheated with would be a big scandal, and Damon Dash wouldn’t make a big scandal, whereas Jay Z would. I can’t believe Jay Z would even look at someone as awful as Posh, but then again he seems to be happy to stick it anywhere. She is “Easy V” after all 😀

    Clue – 1989 in the photo. Posh’s maiden name is Victoria Adams. And it just so happens that there is a Scottish curler named Vicki Adams who was born in 1989.

    I think it’s more of a question of who he hasn’t hooked up with. I worked with Rachel Roy and her line when I worked in public relations in NYC. I really liked her. She’s definitely getting a lot of publicity right now and you know what they say, negative publicity is better than no publicity!

    I don’t know why you included Taylor Swift on that list because she has never been linked to Jay Z in that way and everyone knows that Becky reference on her shirt was for tumblr…

    I don’t necessarily think this song is referring to a specific person, probably an amalgamation of his mistresses and if the other theme of the album is black womanhood then why not throw in a reference about it being a white woman? If I had to pinpoint someone I’d say Rita Ora or Gwynneth Paltrow though.

    My guess would be Rita Ora. I remember some previous blinds hinting at them having an affair.

    As for whether Beyonce’s racist – I don’t know. I don’t know her. But I do think it’s ridiculous to get hung up on the race of your husbands mistress. Surely it’s just as bad regardless of what the colour of her skin is..

    Beyonce’s Becky/s IMO is/are Rachel Roy and/or Rita ora.
    Given the definition of what Becky is (as stated in my comment) beyonce is not racist. I do think however that she is not problack/pro white. I think she’s just pro play her fans feelings to get her money.
    She’s a self anointed feminist and here she is gathering a mob to attack other women and their kids for her…

    Becky is a generic for every other woman JayZ slept with. It’s all of them together. Lots of them. But mostly Gwyneth Paltrow.

    I don’t think she is racist, but I also don’t think she is very bright. Definitely not articulate, and doesn’t write her own songs. And just jumping on the social justice bandwagon for publicity and to sell albums, and it worked. I’m sure JayZ was behind it. He’s smart at business.

      Nailed it 100%, IAmAPunkA. Regardless of how smart Bey is, she is part of a brilliant marketing machine. They are not breaking any boundaries or taking any risks. When truly inspired/activist artists break boundaries and get recognition or mainstream approval, THEN that gets added to the marketing plan.

      But it’s not just about $$–it’s also about legacy. I think Bey’s team is trying to set her apart from the Katy Perry-Britney-Mariah Manufactured Pop Star/Empty Lyrics/Real Moron Club.

      Totally this. JayZ is a known hound dog and Beyonce has put up with it for the fame and money.
      I love Lemonade, and I love the message she is sending about strong women. However, at the end of the day, she forgives the man and still blames/shames the woman when it is the man who betrayed their vows. I have a big problem with her staying silent while her fans bully other women online; where is the strong feminist Beyonce now? She needs to step up.

He’s a dog for doing this to her and I can understand the anger at the other women for disrespecting her and her marriage, but the majority of blame and anger should be directed at her cheating hubby. Hard to be with a cheater, so many emotions. Dated one once, it was torture.
