[Blind Gossip] If you live in New York, or are part of the world of high finance, you probably know this family. Dad was CEO of a huge financial firm. Mom was a socialite. They raised their kids in that uber-rich name-a-building-after-me blue blood world of prep schools, Harvard sweaters, $100k political donations and multiple mansions.
Except it was mostly just one big fraud.
The family says that Dad took his life because he was ill. What they don’t say is that Dad – who went broke for some reason – was finally caught after engaging in fraud to the tune of $100 million. The Feds found out. Instead of going to prison, Dad put a gun to his head.
Think that’s bad? Years later, his Wall Street son is heading down the exact same route! He’s stolen tens of millions of dollars from unsuspecting clients. He’s going down, hard. Look for a movie-of-the week scenario if they can drag some celebrities into the son’s fraud case.

What would your life be like if you stole $100 million? I would have no life. I would die from exhaustion due to a combination of lack of sleep, guilt, and anxiety.
I live very comfortably. I don’t want nor need megamillions to be happy.

Hmmmm…..research time! I couldn’t find any suicides in the Rockefellers or the Morgans. A Mellon, perhaps?
Ha, I could never get away with stealing $100M. Not even remotely. If I wasn’t caught (I would be), I’d be eaten alive by guilt or go insane from paranoia. Naw, I’m no mastermind criminal.

This has to be the Caspersen family. The father, Finn Casperson (CEO of Beneficial), committed suicide in 2009 while under investigation for offshore tax evasion–the family said he was depressed due to kidney cancer–and now his son Andrew Casperson has been charged with defrauding investors.
