[Blind Gossip] This young actress makes plenty of money thanks to her regular gig on a TV show. Her boyfriend? Not as much.

For Christmas, she asked him for a very specific designer handbag. It costs well over $1000.

He doesn’t make as much as her. He thinks it’s ridiculous to spend thousands of dollars on a handbag. He bought her a knockoff made from China. Less than $300. He doesn’t think she’ll be able to tell the difference.

    Agree it’s probably Ariel and her boyfriend. I tend to agree with him as long as it isn’t a cheaply made piece of junk that will fall apart or fade quickly.

    Ariel winter probably. If he can’t afford it then he can’t afford it. Fake items can actually be really good. I’ve had a few before and no one noticed.

    I would never ask someone to buy me a specific present. If they know me then they’ll get something nice or at least surprise me. Asking someone, who you know doesn’t have the money, to buy you some superficial expensive crap is really shitty.

    I learned long ago, that the very best presents are the ones specifically chosen for you by your loved ones. What they give is more precious than what you want…those are the things I cherish that become keepsakes.

    A Modern Family girl. She’ll be able to tell, but he will have no idea how she will figure it out. And $300 is plenty for a purse for most people, she just is living in a celebrity bubble. Isn’t there a more romantic choice than a pre-selected designer handbag?

    Dude, really?!? She’ll absolutely know that it’s a knock-off. 1 million %. Get her a more thoughtful present & just tell her he couldn’t afford it. If she can afford it she should buy it herself.

    I don’t know about everyone else but I like the surprise of presents, especially from significant others. I always know that it’s going to be thoughtful & meaningful. Doesn’t matter how much it is.

    Well I think practical I found an exact Hermès replica for $180 and several other brand bags that are just alike and no one ever notices there fake I mean this real bags are probably made in the same sweat shops

      Hermes bags are Made in France by hand.

      Better to buy a used one, or a bracelet or belt, etc., if you love the label than a counterfeit … fakes really do come from sweatshops and the money made is used to fund illegal activities. You’d be shocked if you research what your money from buying fakes of any brand is supporting on the black market.

    For her to ask him to buy a specific gift way beyond his means is so wrong- she deserves the knock off. If she wants the authentic brand, she should buy it herself.
    Can’t wait to see who this is… just made me think a LOT less of her.

    Dunno who this is (Ariel Winter? Sarah Hyland?) but if she asked for a very specific bag, she will ABSOLUTELY be able to tell it’s a knockoff. What an idiot.
    Either suck it up and buy the real thing, or be honest and just say as much as you’d like to get her what she wants, you just can’t afford it. (And tell her that BEFORE Xmas, by the way.)

    Since it says “gig” and not “part,” I’m going with Keke Palmer.

    I’d say, cheap. He should be honest and say “that’s more than I can afford” and give her something that he really thought about and that’s meaningful. I never got the idea behind telling someone what to get you (unless they’re really just bad at thinking of gifts, and ask for help). If she wants the bag she should just buy it.

    I don’t begrudge her for liking or wanting nice things, but why would you ask your boyfriend whom I assume makes less than $100k a year for a gift like that?

    BUT ALSO don’t buy a fake bag dude! Just tell her it’s not in the cards and get her something else. Fake bags are wack and so is dishonesty.

    Neither. Answer is: foolish, because she will be able to tell. And second answer is: criminal, because knock offs are violations of federal law.

    Just tell her, I can’t afford that and buy something else meaningful.

      Totally agree.

      Buying a fake just shows he has no integrity. Own up and tell her you can’t afford it and get something meaningful. If you can afford $300 on a fake handbag, you can afford to get something special. Take her to a show and a nice dinner with that $300.

      Still, think it is silly to ask for something so expensive if you know your partner would find it difficult to pay for. Reality changes depending on tax bracket! Stick to yours/his for requests.

    Her boyfriend is crazy if he thinks a fake is okay. If she finds out, he’s toast. I do think that’s way more money than he has to spend on a bag, but he should just get her something else.

    I had a girlfriend once in my mid 20s, who fully expected me to buy her a $600 coach bag for Christmas. Mind you I was working 60 hours a week between 3 jobs. I laughed in her face. If you think I have to literally drain my bank account to “prove” myself, you’re in the wrong relationship.
    Ps, her presents to me probably cost $50 total

      I agree with this – it’s probably Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams (clue: “well” over $1000). This makes me sad. Especially because Wells seems like such a great guy and it is upsetting to see that he feels he has to lie to her.
