A huge celebrity who wrote several best-selling books used a ghostwriter… the same one who is now charged with stealing material from others!

Now every word of the celebrity’s books is undergoing scrutiny to determine whether or not the material is original… and a huge firestorm is going to erupt once they find out how much of the material was “borrowed” from other sources!

Could this impact their political ambitions?

    The controversy is over a book this ghost writer did or something like that plus
    CNN reported that Trump’s wife plagiarized First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech. It’s all over the news right now.

    Tony Schwartz who ghostwrote “Art of the Deal” has nothing kind to say about Trump – and claims to have spent the rest of his career feeling horrible for having put those lies out there.
    Meredith McIver is the plagiarist – but at the same time being stupid enough to slap your name on something you likely didn’t even bother reading doesn’t speak highly to your ability to pay attention to detail in such things as – running a country.

    His ghostwriter just came out sayin a lot of what he wrote was b.s. and now that he knows…20 years later that DT is runnin 4prez..he wishes he didnt
    Who should be blamed if the work is found to be plagiarized? The Ghostwriter/ Editor / publishing co as they have final say what goes 2print. Somebody should have thought more about makin ?cuz now it appears to be bitin him in the arse #factcheck…lol

    What surprises me is that the writer didn’t have a confidentiality agreement like Drumpf is notorious for… considering how litigious he is, if Trump thought there was anything worrisome, he would have lawyered up.

    Donald Trump definitely used a ghostwriter for Art of the Deal and I’m sure he used ghostwriters for his subsequent books. Many celebrities do. But his claim to fame is that he exaggerates everything so not surprised. Ghostwriting is different than outright plagerism however….he will blame his attorneys or someone. He never claims responsibility for any mistakes he’s made.

    His is a culture of blame somebody else mentality.

    Donald Trump! (Because he had to know about the book’s content prior to publication that the writer plagiarize material from other books. That’s why he refused to accept her resignation over Melania’s (?) speech.)

    I think she was paid off to take the blame, because he has been swindling old, white people people with his campaign run for President.

    It won’t make a difference. Trump doesn’t care, and most of his supporters don’t care.

    McIver has to be blamed, and Trump should take some of the blame. But he won’t.

    Why is anyone suprised Trump has no intrgrity. Look at his business dealings. He’s a faker. Who likes to get over on other people.

    It probably won’t affect his ambitions his followers are sheeple.

    Who should be blamed I don’t know but he is going to blame someone. He will blame Obama.

    [Optional] Who should be blamed if the work is found to be plagiarized? McIver, since she was the one who couldn’t come with original material. He was just unaware and I bet he feels betrayed right now because he paid a lot of money for her alleged work and all he got was just a bunch of stolen writing. Most celebs can’t write anyway.

    IMHO, I would not be surprised if Trump had prior knowledge of her plagiaristic tendencies but chose to proceed anyway.

    Trump. His supporters don’t care. His own lawyer described him as the type to take advantage of repeating a lie 3 times and people will believe it. He’ll lie about it and they’ll believe it. He’ll probably make his supporters believe it’s Clinton’s fault.

    Trump. Not wrong to use a ghostwriter, though I know the libs will have a field day if they find anything that appears to be lifted from someone else. And if they find nothing, I’m sure they will blow that nothing out of proportion and find a way to call him a bigot in the process.

    It’s kinda like it’s not wrong to have a private email, unless you’re Secretary of State, and are using it to send classified information and then lying about it. But the real issue is that a couple lines…

      Obama caught stealing speech from Deval Patrick and Bush. Anyone who believe Michelle Obama wrote that speech and didn’t lift some lines herself is a fool.

    No, this won’t affect his campaign in the long term.

    He, his ghostwriter, his editor, and publisher should all be held accountable for any plagiarized material. They all had reasons ($$$) not to expose and ask for re-writes of someone else’s ideas.

    Meredith McIver ghost wrote some of Trump’s books. She helped Melania write the speech. All signs point to Melania adding Michelle Obama’s parts herself. She must have thought no one would notice.

    The explanation given for this 48 hours after the fact could have been given 48 minutes after the speech, if it was really that simple. But it wasn’t and surely deals were made to hammer out this “explanation.”

      My question is how unusual is it for someone to repeat that sentiment in exactly the same way not knowing it had already been said? I was taught the same things and would have likely chosen the same words to relay that to others. I guess if that was the only thing the media could fault, they’re doing pretty good.

      The funniest part was Trump Jr. belittling business school grads when he himself is a grad of Wharton.

    Donald Trump. The ghostwriter of his wife’s speech which plagiarized Michelle Obama wrote several books that Trump claims he wrote.
    Both the ghostwriter and the person who’s name is on the work in question (or is giving the speech) should be held responsible. Always double check!

      I didn’t appreciate Laura Ingraham’s Nazi salute. I think the Trump kids are imbeciles. Melania doesn’t inspire me but I appreciate the fact that she has said she really looks up to Michelle Obama.

      This. I read an article earlier that said that McIver helped on ‘several of Trump’s books’, hence the plural of ‘books’ in the blind.

      For those of you wondering where / when Obama plagiarized her speech heavily from one given by Deval Patrick in 2006 while running for govern. Ssome of the worst I’ve seen. Trump on the other hand commented on common things said when running for office: Your word is your bond / Treat others with dignity and respect Nothing is given, you must earn it. This is common stuff they all say. Michelle got a mulligan because people wanted Obama in no matter what. They are all fakers.

      Obama also plagiarized his 2014 SOTU speech from Bush. Joe Biden is a serial plagiarist too. No one really cares about these stupid speeches anyway except the media and haters. Not going to be an issue here either.

    Optional: who should be blamed? Well, the ghost writer. He was paid to write, not plagiarize others. But it’s also dishonest to claim you wrote something that you didn’t. I’m not really sure how we ended up with two such horrible candidates for president.

      It is indeed depressing when our only choices are Trump and Clinton. The only bright spot in this is, no matter who wins, I’ll bet he/she is going to be a one-term President. At least we can only hope that both parties come up with someone better in four years.

      YUP. And Melania claimed she wrote the speech with just some small help, now we’ve got a speech writer falling on their sword. Apparently Melania literally watched Michelle’s speeches and called the speechwriter and said “I want to say this” and quoted verbatim. *smh* I always heard that melania was supposed to be smart….

    Please. There is no celebrity who writes his or her own books. It just doesn’t happen. It may make some people distrust Trump if they aren’t familiar with the industry, but if there was plagiarism, that’s the fault of the ghostwriter, the editor and the publisher who didn’t catch it.

      Lol, no. I was talking about people who are already famous who then decide to put a book out to capitalize on it. Authors are people who write books. They may become famous from writing many books, or a few that hit well, but that’s not the same as a celebrity who became famous another way and then pays someone to write a book for them. Virtually no celebrities have written their own books. Sometimes they pay extra to have the ghostwriter’s name left off the book entirely.

      Incidentally, Hillary Clinton was called out by one of her ghostwriters for not crediting her on the finished book. I don’t remember if she sued, but Hillary kept denying she had a ghostwriter at all until her ghostwriter got mad about it. A lot of celebrities have made ghostwriters mad by doing that. It’s a crappy practice.
