[Mid Day] Often spotted at charity events, this veteran actor is easily perceived as the go-to guy for help in times of distress, but turns out, he isn’t all that magnanimous. When a ’70s background dancer approached him for financial assistance for a medical emergency, he outright refused to offer any help.
An eyewitness says, “The actor was shooting at a suburban studio when an old lady entered the set. She enquired if the actor was available and narrated her ordeal to the production members. She said she had worked with the actor in many films as a background dancer and is now in urgent need of money for her daughter’s surgery.”
As soon as the actor saw her waiting by his vanity van, he got upset. “She told him that she had gone to his house but could not meet him. Later, when she learned that the actor was shooting at that particular studio, she landed there to seek financial help. However, the actor is known for his strict nature and straight forward attitude. He did not think twice before turning her down. The woman then left the set, teary-eyed,” adds the source.
Another source says the actor wasn’t sure if it was a genuine request for help, and so he shouldn’t be blamed.

Travolta ? I dont blame whoever it is for being standoffish. Lots of con artists out there. Woman who brought charges against Michael Jackson was a known shakedown artist to celebrities . This is tacky and is she too hoity toity to work a non glamorous job to provide for her child ? If it is the actor’s child then wouldn’t some lawyer take up the cause ?

I have no guess as to who the actor is – but, perhaps, the woman’s daughter who needs surgery is this actor’s illegitimate child and that’s why she came to him to ask for help. Seems odd to me that the actor would immediately become upset by just seeing this woman (how would he recognize her all these years later if she was just a backup dancer in a few of his films over 30 years ago?). Also, the woman had been to his house as well before visiting the studio. Seems there’s more to the…

If her daughter needs surgery she will get it. If she is unable to pay she can apply for Medicaid. I hope it works out for her.

Is it John Travolta? Saturday Night Fever was the 70s and required a lot of dancers.
This is tricky, I have mixed feelings about the lady even asking, it’s very rude considering they worked together years ago. But on the other hand, desperation drives people to try anything and everything, especially when it comes to their children.
I don’t blame ‘Travolta’ for saying no, he hasn’t seen her for years, he has no obligation to someone who worked with him decades ago.

Maybe the actor is the daughter’s father.

Tom Selleck. And no, I wouldn’t. It’s a sad situation but this isn’t someone who was once a friend, they worked with this woman and that was it. Can you imagine if all of this actors former work colleagues started asking him for money, it’s a slippery slope

I don’t know who the actor is (want to say Travolta for the dancing but he sure isn’t strict & straight forward)…but if he’s a successful actor & is wealthy, why the heck couldn’t he say, “I’ll have my staff look into this”? Cripes, he could send her a couple hundred dollars & be done with it, how hard is that?

He shouldn’t feel obligated to help, sounds like he needs a restraing order of she’s hanging around his personal residence.

Tom Selleck – Magnum P.I.?
I don’t have thousands of dollars to give away, but if I did, it would depend on the situation. However, in this case, I would have to agree with the actor. He hadn’t been in contact with the person in many years and now she is stalking him. I do feel bad for her as she seems very desperate.
TX1961 says
Well, first of all, it’s never cool to put someone in the spot that way. It makes the other person seem like a cad if he doesn’t comply. Maybe she could have sent a letter / note to the actor’s management? The actor doesn’t know if the lady’s story is true. If they were actually friends when they worked together, then maybe the lady should have tried to ask. If they were not close, then maybe not.

Something I read about Oprah was her comment that once she made it nationally, requests for hand-outs from “friends and family” soared from $5,000 a pop to $50,000 (I think those were the numbers). In other words, there seem to be lots and lots of people out there who think nothing of demanding hand-outs from famous people. And also that these sorts of charitable demands are a daily occurrence. I agree with the poster who said if you can’t take care of your own kids, then don’t have…

Just because an actor is rich, and give to lots of charities, that doesn’t mean he’s going to give handouts to individuals who come to his house or on set. Who would do that, anyway?

How many 1970’s movies did Leo make where he needed background dancers? Leo was born in 1974 and he is definitely not a musical performer.

John Travolta? He’s the only veteran actor I can think of who did lots of movies in the ’70’s requiring background dancers.
It would depend how well I knew them when we worked together.

John Travolta fits the clue better than Tom Selleck. Also, with Obamacare, this woman’s daughter is required to have medical coverage. That was the whole point of making it mandatory. So why is she begging, on her daughter’s behalf, from someone she knew in the 70s?
bhakti says
I’m not sure who this is, but if she knows where he lives maybe they were close at one time. I feel her pain, and if I had the money I would have helped her, but I’m not going to harshly judge him for not. Maybe now that he has more information, he might reconsider and quietly give to her. I hope so ❤️
