No complicated explanation needed. He has a serious drinking problem.

He was sober when they married but it’s been a struggle to get him to stay sober since then.

We hear that he can be a total jerk when he’s drunk. She really does love him, but this isn’t what she signed up for.

She is unhappy and frustrated that she can’t fix this.

We don’t know how long she’s going to be able to hang in there.

    Melissa Benoist and Blake Jenner?

    As unhappy and frustrated being antonyms from “Glee” a show both of them were in and were they knew each other.

    If this is really about them it’s sad because I really thought they would be a good couple who would stay together for a long time. If I was her I would leave him, there’s no way you can be married with someone who doesn’t want help for his addiction.

    I don’t know who the couple is, but the clues seem to be:

    ‘Complicated explanation’
    ‘Unhappy and frustrated’
    ‘Hang in there’

    And possibly:

    ‘Rooting for’
    And
    ‘Total jerk’

    It’s a tough situation. An alcoholic can only be helped if they want to help themselves. No one can do it for them. Perhaps an intervention and an ultimatum and then re-evaluate?

    Sonia and Joe. Yes she loves him. She was telling a story how he lies the Steelers and he has like a closet full of Steelers stuff. And he’s slowly replacing all her stuff with Steelers stuff. Even her emery nail boards haha. But maybe he can’t take that she’s so successful. I like her she’s down to earth funny

    I really don’t want this to be Joe and Sofia. I know he has given interviews about how he has been sober for 12 years so I’m hoping he stays that way!!

    I do think there is something to the word “rooting”. Sofia does the head and shoulder commercials with the “root to tip” saying I believe. And Joe being a die hard steelers fan is always “rooting” for his home team. Maybe I am stretching that a little too much.

    At the moment the only couple I can think of with the husband having a drinking problem is Kristen Bell and Dax Shephard. But I haven’t heard anything hinting he was off the wagon.

    Might be way off – Ryan and Blake
    Blake doesn’t drink at all. Ryan had given up alcohol when they worked on Green Lantern – but has gone back to drinking since then. There is nothing specific that points to them – except they are both very attractive and actually seem to love each other.

    I will be so sad if this is Kristin Bell and Dax Shepard. If this couple has kids and he is a jerk or violent when drunk, she needs to leave with the kids. Tell him, unless he gets help and stays sober, it will be permanent. Maybe not divorce, but not live together until he can stay sober. I don’t know what else she can do if there are kids to think about.

    Joe Manganiello & Sofía Vergara? What a shame if so.

    You can’t reason with someone when they are drinking & toxic. You have to find a moment (if any) when they aren’t wasted to possibly have a decent 1:1 discussion about how it’s hurting their marriage and his life & health, without going on the attack. If the love is there, they’ll find a way, but she shouldn’t have to suffer to feed his ego and support that kind of jerk he becomes when he’s drinking.

    Guy in the picture reminds me of George Clooney and I saw one dinner they had where he was VERY drunk. So George and Anal Clooney. And whoever this is, I hope she leaves him because unless that person seriously sobers up, they are of no use as a spouse.

    depends on how much of a jerk he is when he drinks. It sometimes takes them a few times to finally stay sober. Stand by him possibly for a little while longer as long as he is not abusive. He might finally stay sober.

    Sofia – should stand by her husband and try to get him help. Alcoholism is classified as a disease and how shallow to leave someone when they need your help.

      Are you kidding? I’ve worked with addicts and their families for 6 years now. Support (not enabling) is great, but it needs to not come at the destruction of the rest of the family. Addicts put their drug of choice before anything else. Their partner needs to put themselves first and helping second, or else 2 lives could be ruined.

      Geesh – if my guess is right – Sofia and Joe haven’t been together that long. If this didn’t start from day one, I would think they should be having some serious conversations.

      Unless they are unwilling to get help. At a certain point, you have to take care of yourself.

      You often have to leave them to stop enabling the addiction and to force them into rock bottom. Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to get a celeb to rock bottom as they financially can take care of themselves. If ultimatums and family/ professional interventions don’t work, the only thing left is to remove yourself from the madness.

      If the alcoholic refuses to recognize they have the disease, then how will they get the help they need to treat it?

      I’ve been there, done that. That’s like asking a man to change. Lmao. They don’t. no one should be forced to live with that. Ever.

      This is the most horrendous piece of advice you can give to a partner of someone abusing substances.
      An alcoholic must be willing to help her/himself first. Their partners should never be made responsible.

    Is this supposed to be Garner and Affleck? I guess it is. Aren’t they supposed to be divorcing? She’s “hanging in there”? Pathetic! Get a spine, girl. He’s clearly under the influence of something these days. I doubt he ever stopped drinking, smoking or having sex with other women. But her eyes were open during the marriage?! What a way to raise kids when you don’t have to — with a man like that in the house.

      I think you’re right and this is Ben and Jen. It would explain why Jen hasn’t yet filed for divorce but also doesn’t reconcile with him. I can totally understand why she is torn but the reality is that the booze always wins when a person is actively drinking, always. Every family event will be tarnished by it, in one way or another, even if it’s a wonderful day and you’re wishing it could *always* be so nice if not for the drinking. I think she needs to get out of the marriage, for her…

      IDK I’ve had a change of heart/guess after reading what other people have posted. I think it’s Bell and Dax now. The whole “not what she signed up for” and “hang in there” doesn’t seem like something that would describe Ben and Jen.

    This is a tough situation. I would try and see if he was open to the idea of getting serious professional help. I think his wife, his family, and his friends will be there to support him through rehab.

      Ohhhh. Good catch on the use of the word ‘complicated’. And Alec fits perfectly. Although I didn’t know he had to be drunk to be a raging jerk. I love Alec’s work but I could never live with him.

      What should she do? So tough because they have little children. He seems like an involved parent. But I’ve seen photos of him berating people in front of her and she looks so embarrassed. She can’t let her kids grow up with this. Alcoholism is a big issue for a kid because it cycles. Very…
