The Pool Man

[Blind Gossip] While many big celebrities in Hollywood are saddened that this industry type is nearing the end of his life, not everyone is in mourning.

We called him The Pool Man because he was one of those industry guys who threw pool parties for the “new boys” just beginning their acting careers. Since he knew all the big players, you believed that he could help you. He was really there just to help himself to the fresh meat.

Fresh meat = Naive young boys.

A lot of the boys were underage. There was an enforced no clothes rule if you were one of the younger guests at the party.  He was only interested in boys who were white and young (17 or 18). He would keep them until they aged out (usually at 20 or 21). Then he would replace them with someone younger.

Eventually, even the fresh meat wasn’t fresh enough.

Some of them thought they were lucky because one of his friends would cast them in some bit part or because he paid their college tuition for a semester. Most of them just got used. I sure won’t be shedding any tears when he’s gone.

    After reading everyone’s comments I looked up Sandy Gallin. Holy crap – he hung out with all of the celebrities! I saw pictures of him with Dolly Parton, Cher, and even Oprah. Do you think they knew of his reputation? I find it hard to believe they would be seen with him if they did. But if its such an open secret in Hollywood they had to have known. Its very disappointing.

    There’s a big differene between being abused (forced to have sex with threatens of violence) and being used (have sex to get a role that never happen).
    If you are being used i have no pity for you.

    This is Svend Petersen. He’s the former pool manager of 45 years at the Beverly Hills Hotel and was in the news recently because he hobknobbed with the likes of Marilyn Monroe and is now 86 and homeless. Sandra Bullock donated 5K to help get him on his feet. He was known in his heyday as the Poolside Prince and had connections to many high-rollers in the industry.

    Manager Sandy Gallin who represented Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand and some other Hollywood big shots. He’s hospitalized with blood-cancer.

    He`s the only guy I associate with nude pool parties – but thought he was a `ladies man`. If it IS HH, then I`m concluding that NOTHING in Hollyweird is as it seems.

    I`ve never thought of HH as a kindly Benefactor, but to deliberately take advantage of young people`s dreams, and then discard them like used socks is more than merely an Opportunist. It`s Predatory even if they`ve willingly come into his lair – esp because they`re young and promised the moon.

    Predator. You really have to ask? I don’t know who the hell it is, but this is dispicable behavior no matter how you cut it. He has caused irreparable emotional damage to young boys to gratify himself. Pure evil.

    I’m a little embarrassed to say that i was at more than one of those Sandy Gallin parties. I was young and stupid and I really wanted to be an actor and these were the guys who said they would help me.

    The parties were exactly as described in the blind item. Older creepy guys like Sandy (and a few other famous executives) leering at a young naked guys. The naked requirement is right, but I seem to remember that a lot of the boys were only about 15 or 16.

      I don’t think you should be embarrased for that. You were young and trying to make it big in a really hard industry (just like everyone else who attended) and they took advantage of that. I dont know what it must be like to grow up and then realize that there were a few times in your life where you were being obseved by a bunch of predators.

      But you’re older now, and you know better. Don’t beat yourself over thing you cannot change 🙂

      Omg that’s horrible. I really hope you were never a victim of this man’s advances. It’s depressing to think so many young kids were hurt by him and no one did anything.

      No need to feel embarrassed. You were young and they were the ones who should have never allowed that to happen. Completely predatory. I’m sorry that happened to you. Far too many sick people in that industry who consider young, naïve people as commodities to be used and traded at their whim.

      The only people who should feel embarrassed are the predators who brought underage boys under the ruse of career assistance.

      I hope that life has treated you well in the passing time and that these creeps are eventually named and shamed. It feels like that moment is close and will take a Jimmy Saville turn.

    I remember hearing stories about his parties and boys being bussed in from West Hollywood. This was in Malibu in the ’90s.

    Definitely a predator.
