Three years after we published a blind item on Ellen DeGeneres pushing pets onto her staff, Perez Hilton ran a similar story.

Here is Blind Gossip’s SOLVED blind item from 2013: Not So Kind And Generous.

Obviously, Ellen DeGeneres is still making her staff uncomfortable by forcing them to adopt pets they may not want.

But it makes Ellen feel good, and that’s what really counts.

    This was probably blown out of context……im sure Ellen said…..if anyone wants a dog you should adopt one instead. Los angeles has a huge homeless dog population because people continue to breed dogs, they dont spay and neuter and people get dogs as puppies then when they realize that it takes work they dump the pup like trash. Dont breed or buy while shelter pets die!

    I thought Ellen. Looks like everyone else does, too. LOL Seems like an Ellen thing to do. Ugh.

    If my boss tried to force me to adopt a pet, I would tell her to mind her own business. My animals are already adopted from the shelter, and I have as many as I can feasibly support. More animals of any breed would be too much to handle financially or spatially, so I would tell Ellen to respectfully back off, or else.

    Absolutely Ellen, and she has been doing this for years now, nothing new.

    Staffers do it thinking it will put them in good graces with her and will lead to promotions, instead they end up with a responsibility they didn’t want nor need.

    Ellen. I mean screw children. I love my fur baby but he’s so hands on I might as well get another kid. He even wakes me up at 4am.

    Hmm, Ellen Degeneres sounds like she’s want to open people’s hearts to the love of a dog.

    I’m not sure on the “forced to adopt” angle. I have a dog and will probably always have dogs, but if a boss wanted me to take on more than I could look after I’d decline on the ground that it’s unfair on the animal. I couldn’t have anything other than a dog right now anyway, my dog would hump and then eat any other type of animal.

    That’s very selfish, while a nice gesture to try and get homes for a homeless fur baby it’s very selfish. Not everyone is meant to have pets especially if the person doesn’t want one. I’ve rescued 2 dogs with “issues”and I was willing to put in the work to train them and work through their issues. It takes time and dedication. They are great dogs now but not everyone is in a position to pay for trainers and put in the work. I wouldn’t adopt a dog out to anyone who doesn’t…

    She should pay for all the food, vet, grooming bills etc. if she wants people adopt these dogs, she’s certainly got the money.

    I feel like his is Chelsea Handler, because she has two rescues. I would not let anyone bully me to adopt a pet, it’s a huge responsibility to care for animals and they deserve to be in good homes with proper care and attention. I love my dog, and have had more than one before. I’d own a zoo if I could, but no one should bully me into adding to my furry family because of THEIR personal agenda.

    Don’t know, but this is a horrible thing to do. This results in animals being abandoned and abused by owners who don’t want the responsibility. No animal deserves this.

    I love dogs but know my limits. So no pressure would make me adopt a dog unless I really wanted another one.

    [Optional] What would you do if your boss tried to force you to adopt a pet? I would tell them “Sure, after you paid for the costs of vet fees, paperwork of adoptions, a raise to cover the cost for food, and other miscellaneous things”

    It’s Ellen. I remember hearing about this several years ago when she promised someone a dog and things went south, or something like that.

    I would give my boss a great big hug of appreciation and run down to the local shelter to adopt (yet another) pet. Save a life – adopt today!

    You work for Ellen and all you can drudge up is a complaint about is this rescue dog-gate. Just fire yourself and see how the other half lives.

    I’m already feeding & cleaning teeth for 2 dogs & 2 cats, so I’d say I’ve done my part.

    What would you do if your boss tried to force you to adopt a pet? I show them a photos of my two dogs and say “sure!!!! My dogs would love a snack!”

    Stand my ground and remain firm to my OWN desires and wishes. If you give an inch your boss or others will keep imposing upon you. Be respectful but say and mean NO!

    Ellen. I have adopted two pets myself and would always do so, however, I have friends that went to breeders, and would never impose my views on them. It’s all lovely to adopt but people have to realize that alot of abandoned dogs come with behavioural issues that can be very difficult to deal with. I am sure people with money like Ellen can afford to have the Dog Whisperer on call, adopting is not for everyone, nor is owning a pet. It truly is just a step below having a child.

    I will say Ellen D, say I will make a donation to a local shelter, but I will not adopt, unless you give me a raise for his extra expense. Dogs are expensive.

    This has to be Ellen, I remember seeing a similar blind on here about some controversy with her, pets, and the show staff.

    If my boss tried to force me to adopt a pet I’d ask them for a year’s worth of money to care for the animal in advance!

    If my boss was forcing us all to adopt a dog, I could truthfully claim that I have a severe dog allergy and in no way could live with a dog as a pet. I do have two cats (no cat allergies) adopted from shelter, so perhaps boss would give me a pass.

    Pets are like children. YOu do NOT adopt a child because the child needs YOU.
    You adopt a child because you want a child. There are many many people with pets who are abused and neglected because the owners are not ready, capable or willing to care for their animal. You are doing a HUGE disservice to these dogs by FORCING them upon your employees who CANNOT say no because you are the boss. Get real Ellen. FInd another way. Give the dogs to kids in need.

    optional: I’m a cat lady in making, so I would never adopt a dog. I would say my boss I’m allergic against dogs+ I’ not allowed to have pets in my appartment.

    I remember the big dog adoption controversy Ellen caused in 2007 when she adopted a dog, signed the contract, then changed her mind and dumped her new dog on her hairdresser, which broke the pet adoption rules she agree to follow and the contract she signed.

      But the thing is, if someone is pressured into taking a rescue dog and they don’t want a dog at all, then the poor dog will just end up being in the shelter again eventually.

    I’d only get a pet if I wanted to. I recently got my kids a cat and while it was an adjustment, (I have a 22 month old boy and a 5 year old girl) she’s a welcome addition to the family. My daughter wants a dog now and that is just not gonna happen…for anyone.

      there is a method to get rid of the dog wish, but it’s better for older kids: buy them a dog leash, and let them “walk with the dog” for 30 minutes at 6 am, at afternoon and about 10p.m. each day, by every weather. afther few days they stop talking about wanting a dog.

      I understand You: I always had cats, they make me happy.Dogs are work for me. You has to be a “dog person” to care for a dog properly and don’t see this as some kind of tiresome duty.

    Ellen again or still? She’s really garnering an uncool name for herself. Typical of the far Left- all inclusive UNLESS you disagree… or don’t want a cat/dog.
