[Blind Gossip] Before this big network brings aboard that well-known star for their TV series, they might want to require a physical to make sure that everything is OK.

Why? Because the star had a significant health problem in the last year or so that they have not spoken about publicly.

    The blind says “series” so that rules out Big Little Lies for me.

    I’m going against the grain. I’m guessing someone who has been rumored for Dancing With The Stars. It’s known to be a very strenuous show, and the celebrities on the show really do tax themselves physically and mentally. Most have a lot of injuries, and prior medical conditions do become known.

    Not sure about the star, but the spring DWTS will be all athletes, who may not be willing to share any injuries or illnesses to be able to be “in the game.”

    Production insurance requires producers to have all main talent listed on cast insurance – which usually entails a medical anyway – it’s standard. The CI ensures that if a performer essential to the production breaks a leg/is ill requiring a production delay/shut down then the producer will not lose millions. Financiers typically require CI as part of the funding agreement etc.

    A good example is LiLo – she was for all intents uninsurable for years.

    TV Hosts have to be CI covered…

    I’ll go along with the crowd and say Big Little Lies/Meryl Streep because I really don’t know, but aren’t actors insured by the project/tv show/movie? So wouldn’t the insurer have its own health check before insuring?

    Meryl Streep for Big Little Lies? Optional: Wouldn’t it be considered disability discrimination if they did? It’s one thing if they replace them because they aren’t able to film. It’s another if they don’t hire them solely because of their medical issues.

      I like this guess. She has been out of the spotlight for a long while, so that down time could have included a significant health problem, although I hope not. Also, the little dorky doctor in the blind photo looks just like the little dorky guy who used to play Murphy’s boss (geez, I really do think of Candace Bergen as actually being Murphy Brown! 😀 ).

    This is a tough one, while I think it would be beneficial for the principal to know if their is something wrong, I understand that the studio needs to protect themselves. But I do wonder if the studio would use the physical against the principals. Also, I would not trust anyone at the Studio to keep what they found out a secret.
