mean girls 5[Blind Gossip] One executive doesn’t seem to be such a big fan of this young, superstar actress. They had a bruising critique of her appearance and her behavior.

I’m not talking about her on stage. I’m talking about her normal interactions with people. If she wants those grown up roles, she should look like it and act like it. At the ceremony, she looked like a movie star. A polished, elegant goddess. Then she opened her mouth and a string of obscenities fell out. The mismatch was really off-putting.

Then, at the after party, she looked like some high school kid who changed into her play clothes after school and was getting drunk for the first time. I know some people find her refreshing. I just think she’s annoying. And the more she gets rewarded for performances that aren’t that good, the worse she gets.

    Definitely JLaw. She changed into some stupid romper thing for the after-parties, hence the little-girl remark. And she thinks she’s so funny and kitschy with everything she says in interviews and red carpets, but really she’s just annoying and so overrated.

    It’s Jennifer Lawrence. I like some of the movies she’s been in, and I like her personality (or at least the one she shows off in interviews and appearances), but I have to admit she’s not a very good actress.

    Jennifer Lawrence has gone from being perceived as a serious actress who demands respect and privacy, to being a goofball trying to outshine Amy Schumer, who she must think is some kind of entertaining and funny, since she tries to emulate her so much.

    Last night when I was watching JLaw and AShu, I thought to myself that JLaw’s career wasn’t going to be helped by this friendship. I love Amy, but she appeals to a certain demo. JLaw was all things to all people until last night. She showed her age. I got a strong feeling her time as the IT girl was coming to a close with that presentation, and she’d be on the downswing for a bit. We’ll see….

    I didn’t watch the Golden Globes but, when I see the words “superstar actress” I think Jennifer Lawrence. I’ve read she is loose with the foul language.

    I’m starting to find her annoying. I also find it annoying that everybody is a SUPERSTAR or a SUPERMODEL. Aren’t there any actors/actresses or models anymore?

    Her offstage antics are starting to detract from her good (not great) performances. I think she’s getting too much exposure and hype.

    She was good in the Hunger Games, but I am not a fan of much else that she has done. She seems like a nice down to earth girl, but she also doesn’t have a lot of range in her acting.

    I used to like her but she’s one of those celebs that should be seen and not heard from too often, because yes, her immaturity shows.
    It also annoys me that she gets chosen to play older women, 30-somethings when there are a bunch of 30-something actresses just as good or even better that can play her roles, but since she is the chosen “it” girl of the moment, she gets them by default.

      This is exactly how I feel about her. Used to love her, but getting kind of tired of her now. A lot of people think she’s being “real” but I have a feeling her actions and words are much more calculated than people think.

      I don’t feel like she’s been a great fit for the David O. Russell roles she’s played….they would have been better served by a more mature actress.

    This is Jennifer Lawrence right? Her after party look reminds me of Clueless. I personally lover her, I get her sense of humor and I like that she is who she is. Is that hard for some people to swallow, yes. But I’d rather be me then some perky people pleaser any day and I appreciate people who are genuine and real. Especially in a business where those types of people are hard to find.

    Jennifer Lawrence. I thought she was astonishingly good in “Winter’s Bone,” her break-out role. I’ve also seen “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle,” in both of which I thought she did a good job, although her characters weren’t as well-conceived as I think they should have been. I can’t comment on any of her later work, as I haven’t seen it. I like that she’s staying open and accessible, but she seems immature at the same time. It will wear thin pretty soon.

    Jennifer Lawrence. Annoying! At first she was refreshing but now her behavior has just become too much, and people can see right through it (“Look at me – I’m sooo relatable!”). I suppose all the acting accolades are probably deserved although personally I’ve never agreed. I see it more as a case of a mediocre actress who got a lucky break, right place right time sort of thing.

    I find her to be both, like most people. I appreciate that she’s herself, but I doubt I’d be besties with her. She reminds me of a girl I went to college with. Smart, dedicated, but often rubbed people the wrong way. Personally, I thought she was quite nice and easy to get along with, but we didn’t have lots in common. However, she’s been very successful so that shows her naysayers.

    I used to find it refreshing, but she now needs to transition into a more mature artist. Some of her roles certainly have been. Her problem is hth company she keeps. Schumer is crass and vulgar and not as funny as people give her credit for being and it clearly rubs off on her. And when you are fronting $100M films and franchises, you gotta act the part.     I did not see the movie Joy, so can’t comment on Lawrence’s performance. I don’t mind her at all. At least she keeps it classy in front of the cameras and always looks very presentable. No excessive displays of T&A, unless that stands for Talent & Acting. As if cursing is a rare occurrence in the world anymore! Still like her.

    easy JLaw…..and did you see the way she acted backstage after the ceremony answering questions from reporters? She was trying to be funny like her friend Amy Schumer, and it fell flat. Why did she find the need to try to embarrass the reporter for doing his job? I always liked her, but as she wins awards and becomes more successful, she is becoming too big for her britches. Humility goes a long well……..she was good in Joy, but not Golden Globe good. Very surprised at the foreign press.

      I agree with your opinion completely. Not sure why she’s trying so hard when she doesn’t even need to anymore. I guess she needs reminding that she is an actress, not a standup comedian. Please leave that to Amy. I hate seeing people I like cluelessly embarrass themselves. I cringed for her last night.

    I agree with the exec. While she did make me laugh when she first hit the scene as young fresh face, her antics are just annoying now. I also couldn’t agree with that last statement more. I have not been impressed with her work lately. It’s like that person was reading my mind!

      I like her, but I’m pretty pissed at Hollywood producers & directors for putting her in these roles of 30-something divorcees/single moms, etc. She was barely in her 20s when she made Silver Ljnungs Playbook and like a year older when she was in American Hustle. Those roles should have gone to actresses who are actually the right age.

      I wholeheartedly agree with this. In both those movies she was FAR too young to be believable. A much more wizened person was needed in American Hustle.

      He must have a thing for her- not only is she miscast (based on age) but practically every thing she’s done is with him

      I guess she never heard of the importance of diversifying…maybe work with another director or set of actors (Russell tends to put the same people in every film…Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Robert DeNiro). None of the greats (Streep, Hepburn, Davis) worked with a single director/cast asmuch as she has…

      Yeah, except for the TWO major franchises she currently stars in (X-Men, Hunger games). She makes her box-office billions, then goes back to the Russell Repertory for her “prestige” pics. No different from Batman Bale, who wore a cape for Chris Nolan and got his award nominations for Russell. Don’t see anything wrong with that.

      And I thought she blew everyone off the screen in “American Hustle”, age-miscast notwithstanding.

      She got lucky because that director David O Rossell must have a thing for her and makes her the star of almost every film he makes. This put her at the forefront of Hollywood. But the truth of the matter is pretty faces like hers are a dime a dozen in tinseltown…

      I’m soooooo sick and tired of her act…She thinks she can say and behave any way she wants and thinks she’s cute. She’s not. She can only get away with her sch to a degree. I predict a backlash coming on…
