rio de janeiro[Blind Gossip] This famous athlete from one of the big three sports wants to go to Rio de Janeiro. Not to participate in the Olympics. Just to watch.

His wife has said, “Absolutely not!” Why?

She’s afraid of everything! She hears that Rio is a dangerous place with lots of crime. She thinks that there will be poop in the water. She’s worried about terrorist attacks. She wants to get pregnant in the next year, and is worried about the Zika virus.

She doesn’t want to go… but she doesn’t want him going without her, either!

She’ll tie him to a chair if she needs to. No way in hell she’s letting him go and put their whole family in jeopardy!

    definitely not Brady/Gisele. She’s there as opener and brought her kids there, beside not long ago Brady’s in Brasil (in some beach) after the Zika virus issues hit.

    Not Brady. Giselle is participating in the opening ceremony.
    Possibly Curry’s wife Ayesha (who just had a kid recently) or more likely, LaLa Anthony and Carmello (no kids yet).

    Baseball is midseason and football is in training camp so it has to be basketball.

    At first I thought LeBron. But he’s played in 4 Olympic already. So I’ll guess Steph Curry. Ayeesha always seems to think that the world is out to get her

      Actually, let me amend that. The “big three” clue is most likely a reference to Miami. Yeah, the Cavs have a “big 3” but the Heat were the team most often targeted top that way.

      So in second thought, Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Union. Just got married. Have no kids yet.

    It’s clearly not Tom Brady because his wife is in Rio as part of the opening ceremonies. It actually can’t be anyone currently playing in the NFL, as they’re all in camp, nor can it be someone from MLB because they’re in season so that limits it to NBA. Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union maybe? I don’t follow the NBA as much as I do the other two.

    I doubt it’s Curry or James — they passed up on playing and it would be weird to just go and watch. I think so at least. And Giselle is Brazilian so I can’t see her having to explain Brazil to Tom Brady.

    She is right!! Yes, there are serious risks cause of Zika, and known effects on mothers/children. And crime – an Australian news crew, a New Zealand athlete, a Paralympian, and others have already been victims of crime. Terrorism is also a fear at any large venue/event, and it seems like everything has been botched at Rio, you’d have to assume that security hasn’t been done well either. I’ve also seen the reports that said the open water swimmers are warned not to swallow water, cause…

    I’ve been to Rio, it’s absolutely beautiful! We did have security with us but safety wasn’a concern for me at least.

    Just a wild guess, Kobe Bryant. I remember seeing him in the audience during the Olympics in Beijing. He was watching the swimming competition. It can’t be Tom Brady because Giselle is part of the Olympic opening ceremony.

    I think it’s Lebron too. But she don’t get fool, she is more concerned about him sticking his peen in Brazilian hot pockets than caca or zika. In fact, all the WAGs are concerned about the exact same thing. There are 12,000 sex workers waiting for these fellows to arrive.

    She is right to be concerned. We know for a fact that the water is highly polluted due to tests that we’ve done on their water. We know their construction of roads, bridges, highways and buildings is shoddy and not up to our standards or safety codes. We’ve been advised by everyone and their mothers uncle as well as other countries to avoid the area due to Zika and crime in the area. Anyone with a brain would stay away, athlete or not. What a joke! How this place was chosen is hilarious.

      I have wondered this too. I think some major bribe money was involved. I live in Toronto, and we have tried, over the years, to get the Olympics maybe two or three times, until we gave up because the taxpayers here were always throwing money away on these bids only to lose out every time. Yet a place like Rio with all of these issues gets them??? It makes absolutely no sense at all.

      Only Torontonians think Toronto has many redeeming qualities. I know how pissed they were that Vancouver won the other bid, but the truth is Vancouver is clean and beautiful and an amazing representation of our country. The whole country was ecstatic Vancouver won that bid.
      Toronto is dirty, smelly, is smoggy and humid and not esthetically pleasing, and Canada just hosted the Olympics not too long ago. I think the committee likes to spread the love.

    Definitely a basketball player (I think) since no active football player would be able to leave anyway so close to season, and baseball is still on as well. I can’t think of who though and I don’t see many clues but I’m guessing Ray Allen.

    No idea who the athlete is, but my answer to optional is: hell yeah! After everything I’ve read, no way would I go to the Rio Olympic Games. I predict the entire thing will be one giant *-show. So sad for the athletes who work their entire lives for this. Hope I’m wrong and it goes well for them.

    I don’t blame whoever it is though. Rio is a scum hole, not some glamorous party town that they show in that Disney movie. My dad’s friend has been to almost every one and said Russia was the best.

      If you knew a little about Gisele you would know that she visits Brazil all the time. She is there right now for the Olympics actually

    No idea but i’d say no way too! ESP if I planned on getting pregnant. This years olympics will be, in my opinion, less than spectacular. I’d say sit your a** down. You’re not going anywhere.

    Don’t know who it is, but that zika has proven to be capable of being sexually transmitted, they want a baby soon, and you are advised to wait for at least two years after exposure to zika before it would be considered safe to conceive, she’s damned right to not want him to go.

      Considering that he is married to Gisele, who is brazilian and is in Rio right now with their kids, I’m betting its not him.
      PS: don’t know who the guys is, but she should be even more worried about the brazilian women that anything ele! Lol

    I’m from Brazil and would be terrified of going there either. Because of the crime. Poop and Zika doesn’t scare me that much.

      Bodybuilding, as a sport, is about as popular as tractor pulling. It’s a great activity to do personally. I love it, but it’s not very watchable for most people.

    Optional: absolutely not. The likelihood of something happening to me in particular is basically insignificant. Also, “poop in the water”? “terrorists attacks”? Give me a break.

    I have no idea about the athlete but I pity him for having such a silly wife. Poop in the water? Really? ?

    She should go study a little and discover that a big city as Rio is not that different from any big city around the world…

      Yes, really. They have raw sewage flowing directly into the water near areas that many of the rowers/sailors will be, not to mention super-bugs and litter. Haven’t you read the news?

      Ummm… Actually, I have been there last month. That’s the thing about just reading and believing about everything you read. Many journalists write stuff to get attention.

      I’m not saying Rio is perfect because it’s not but other cities like London and Beijing also had problems during the Olympics. But I can say with sure that this athlete’s wife is completely silly for saying those things. Poor guy.

      She’s not silly. Zika can be transmitted through sexual contact and she’s planning on having a baby soon.

      I did read somewhere that there’s raw sewage runoff at one of the beaches. So she’s not wrong about that.

      My family became extremely ill due to sewage runoff at a beach in Malibu, California. There’s no way in **** I’d ever go near a beach that was thought to have that problem. Not going through that again.

      And, yes…Zika is a real concern. As is terrorism. People can say what they want, but the families of the hundreds killed (in Western countries alone) might have something else to say.

      Yes there is a poluted bay in the city called Guanabara, and that’s a big problem if you are planning swimming a little there… If it is not the case, you are completely safe and can enjoy some famous beaches like Copacabana and Ipanema 🙂

      Yeah, no. Even the mayor of Rio has said not to expect much from the city, it’s still a developing city and not to compare it to first-world cities.

      I agree most of her comments are ignorant & rude but is the Zika virus worry not a legitimate concern? I am sure I read government advice (UK) stating that if you re planning to get pregnant within the next two years, you should be wary of the risk & up in returning if possible wait two years before conceiving? Or have I completely misunderstood?

      Yes, the zika virus can be a problem but the chance of getting it right now (it’s winter in Brazil and the disease is mostly transmitted during the summer) are very very very low.

      @bia — It has been 88/89 degrees F in Rio. That’s plenty warm for mosquitoes to breed and it isn’t cold enough at night to kill them.
