UPDATED!
BlindGossip – We’ve talked about the strategy of casting reality shows before, and we have another story for you.
A certain Star’s Parent 1 wanted to do a reality show. Frankly, the only reason any producer would be remotely interested in Parent 1 is because they share the last name of the Star.
Well, Star’s Parent 2 found out about this, and quickly convinced the Star that Parent 1 is being incredibly selfish, and that it would be much smarter for the Star themselves to do a reality show – without Parent 1- to bolster their own popularity (which has admittedly waned over the years). Parent 2’s argument is that if a big audience really gets to know the Star as intelligent, likable, dedicated and serious about their career, it will be much easier for Star to get back on track toward being famous for their talent, rather than their off-screen antics.
Although the Star initially didn’t like the idea at all, they are now warming up to it. Without telling Parent 1, Star and Parent 2 started negotiating on behalf of the Star. The producers of the show are thrilled, but Parent 1 is absolutely furious, and has engaged in more than one screaming match with Parent 2 over it. Parent 1 can’t believe that their authority and influence is being usurped, and that they have been completely undermined by Parent 2. Meanwhile, Parent 2 is telling friends that they are now in control of the Star, and that they will make a decision about the reality show by next Friday. By the way, the Star is an adult, not a child.

Parent 2: Michael Lohan
Although we didn’t ask for it, the reality show that was under consideration was Dancing With The Stars.
This article from RadarOnline in 2010 talks about how Lohan was being considered for the show:
Despite parting ways with the Linda Lovelace lead role in the upcoming film Inferno, Lindsay Lohan has plenty of career options on the horizon. RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively that Dancing with the Stars has been eyeing the Mean Girls actress as a potential addition for the next season.
“Dancing with the Stars producers have had Lindsay on their wish list of castmates for a very long time,” a source with knowledge of the situation told RadarOnline.com. When asked about the news, a rep for the show said they do not comment on casting.
Though Lohan’s dubious history has been a sticking point for the show in the past, her current stay at the Betty Ford Center is producing positive results which have caught people’s attention.
“The producers were concerned about her erratic behavior, but they are taking another look at asking her to come on for the next season because she is doing so well at her sober living facility,” the source added. “The producers are aware that she would be available because she isn’t going to be filming Inferno.”
The source added that the ABC show would showcase Lindsay’s lesser known talents: “The girl can dance. Lindsay is wicked talented.”
Despite the allure of the hit reality show, the source stressed that Lindsay’s future will depend on what is best for her ongoing sobriety. “Lindsay won’t be making any decisions about what she chooses for her next project without consulting first with her treatment team,” the source said.
“This wasn’t mandated by the court, her advisors or medical team, but Lindsay has taken that step herself, which is a very, very positive sign.”
One added bonus of the high-profile gig is the money. “It pays very well. Lindsay has very limited income coming in and this could help get her out of the red,” the source said.
And this RadarOnline interview with Michael Lohan in September 2012 confirms that Dina Lohan herself thought she should be a contestant on DWTS:
“If Dina would stop with her lies and delusions of appearing on Dancing with the Stars, her Drama Moma show, and producing a movie for my son Michael, maybe she get some help and be a mother then get a real job,” Michael tells RadarOnline.com exclusively.
Congratulations to Pickle, who was first to correctly identify each of the individual players!
Also, kudos to Jalisa, who picked up on a lot of the clues: “Parent 1, Parent 2 =Parent Trap. The lady in the picture have red hair =Lindsay Lohan is a natural redhead. “about the reality show by next Friday” =Freaky Friday. Star is adult not a child =Lohan”
UPDATE!
Yes, the Lindsay Lohan on Dancing With The Stars story is going one more round!
Frankly, we think that she should have accepted it this time around. She is both unlikeable and unemployable at this point. A gig like DWTS could boost her likability and fatten her wallet at the same time. That would make it a smart move at this point. Then again, Lindsay has never had the best track record for sound decision-making.
From TMZ:
Lindsay Lohan Rejects Massive Offer From ‘Dancing with the Stars’
Lindsay Lohan’s ego might be her downfall — because TMZ has learned, she just shut down a lucrative offer to do “Dancing with the Stars” … because she doesn’t want to do reality TV.
Sources close to Lindsay tell us, the actress was made several offers to join the DWTS cast this upcoming season — offers that maxed out at $550,000.
But Lindsay — who still owes hundreds of thousands in back taxes — shut them down, telling friends she’d never consider doing reality TV … she wants to stick to films.
But there’s one problem — after “The Canyons” fiasco, she’s basically made herself unhireable. And as the saying goes, beggars can’t be choosers.
A rep for DWTS tells us, “We don’t comment on casting.”
