Justin Bieber Selena Gomez 1[Blind Gossip] A big celebrity is closely watching the “I quit!” trend in social media to see if there is an opportunity for them.

Most recently, comedian Leslie Jones quit Twitter, only to sign back on a few days later. Int the process, she landed headlines, more followers, and an Olympic gig.

Justin Bieber quit Instagram yesterday amid a social media war stoked by Selena Gomez. His quitting wasn’t as capricious a move as you might think.

He’s getting the headlines he wants, plus some bonus hate thrown by his fans at Sel for being the cause of the quit. He’ll be back on in a couple of days with more followers than ever. Sel will come out looking bad.

Yes, this was all very calculated. Selena Gomez played right into and is now getting slapped for it.

Another celeb following this closely is trying to figure out how to stir up some controversy to attract some haters. Then she’ll quit social media until fans beg her to come back.

She’s older than Bieber, so you would think that she’d be a little too mature for this kind of stunt. The truth is that she’s never too old for ANY stunt. Now she just needs to find someone to irritate so she can play the victim…

    I’m going to agree with those who said Kim k, due to the clues. They did not call this person another singer, but instead said another celebrity. Also, it says that since she is older, she should be more mature. Taylor, Selena, Demi and Justin are all nearly the same age.

    She tries to be controversial and could easily piss someone off. She’s also not *that* famous that everyone follows her yet. She obviously has a huge following but it could be bigger and without a tour or music (or the big wedding) there’s not much going on for her right now.

    X-Factor Australia isn’t exactly going to get loads more followers for her…

    Team Selena, and he’s really deluding himself if he thinks that’ll work.
    Others were actual victims. He set himself up as a pedophile and bully himself. She stood up for herself. He’s no hero. She’s getting praised by actual real people that aren’t his press twitter bots.

    Now his PR team is doing constant damage control to repair his tantrum. Most are actually glad he’s gone and hoping Twitter follows soon too. He’d need at least 2 weeks distance from social…

      2 weeks to a month minimum distance from social media. His comments got out of line and showed who he really is too much. As did the press spin follow up damage control and attempted smear campaigns. Too many are celebrating it and wary of him altogether now. The only “sorry” trends have been press bought automated that couldn’t stick.

      And her numbers got a massive spike upwards after. So intentional or not, he kind of shot himself in the foot on this one…

      (And yes, she’s aware. This is old and he’s milking it too much for it to work. So he already botched it by his arrogance and smear tactics.)

    I will guess Mariah Carey for this one, seems to be right up her alley, as she throws shade left and right and I could see her taking it further for attention. Always Selena over Justin, but wonder how it is these young uns have so much time for social media feuds. Wow, its really stupid.

    Team: Selena. Only because, as far as I’m aware, she has never urinated in a cleaning bucket, thrown eggs at a neighbors house, nor has she been drag racing while intoxicated (among other things).
