Fluffy Jobs

[Blind Gossip] Despite some fluffy jobs over the years, this woman is a journalist at her core. She has an interesting decision to make.

She is considering two jobs.

The first is one of the most coveted jobs in the news business for many years. Actually, it’s her old job! It was more fluff than substance, and she thought that a new opportunity would be a better use of her talent. Two or three jobs later, and she is considering it once again. Her old partner is still there, and the gig would be very comfortable and familiar for her.

The other offer is from that panel talk show that just gets messier and messier.

She is going to go back to the coveted job on a temporary basis. She would actually consider a full-time gig there, but that would mean bumping out another woman from that slot. Given that the show already has quite a reputation for disposing of its talent in an unseemly way, you would think that they would want to steer clear of another episode.

The messy job? Well, they would have to pony up a huge amount of money to get her… and give her a lot of control as well. Both the money and the egos are a problem, but this may be their last chance to right that ship.

    If BG allows me a second comment I will say that no way should Katie accept the View . It doesn’t fit her skill set and personna and her IQ ( doesnt Katie speak fluent Russian ?) Katie is well educated and many of those who sit in on the View or not. I think Katie should know she is an Elder Stateperson of Journalism and should consider the lecture circuit and free lance like Dan Rather did and she will be called upon to be everywhere if NBC won’t take her back full time.

    She would have to be insane to do the View! From everything I’ve read everywhere, Barbara Walters is terrible boss. Let that Titanic sink on its own without taking Katie and her career with it!

    First thought was Ann McCarthy returning to Today Show but the post says that her old partner is still there, and the gig would be very comfortable and familiar for her so that rules her out since I’m sure she pretty much hates Matt Lauer.

    Whoever it is, she shouldn’t go to The View. That show is probably one season away from cancellation.

    Not sure but looking forward to seeing the comments.

    I’m thinking it’s Meredith Viera, with The Today Show being the coveted job and The View being the messy one. The only problem with my guess is that she’s been on BOTH of them and it says the coveted one was her old job. Ugh!

He disposes of women co-hosts like they’re garbage. I personally cannot understand his draw. I can’t stand the way he looks, acts, sounds, nothing about him is appealing in my opinion. Allegedly she always carried a torch for Matt so giving up some booty for Matt would not be a Roger Ailes situation but maybe she did that a long time ago and Matt might have gotten his fill. He likes fresh meat or should I say fresh newly caught fish .

    I spent most of 2013 attending her “Katie”talk show. IMO, she’s great- a true journalist, and always seemed very grounded- what you see in front of the cameras is actually who she is when the cameras are off.

    What she should do: fire Baba Wawa and take over the View.
    Or replace that Gail Lady Oprahs Friend on CBS. Gail’s losing any access to political leaders after Jan 20 so her value will be negligible and she’s a cringe worthy talking head with no journalism training or expertise.

I don’t watch either one, so I don’t care. Savannah helped push Anne Curry out of her job, so a taste of her own medicine would be ok.

    I’m not sure, neither seems to be a good fit for her to take on full time job (bumping Samantha or dealing with a group of vile women). She is pretty classy and non-confrontational (from what I have seen of her career) and either direction could lose viewers.

    I love Katie and was sad when she left Today, but no way should she bump Savannah! Katie had her chance and left. Savannah has done a great job and started under awful circumstances. Fire the whole view panel and let Katie take over and I might watch it for the first time in 10 years.

    I going to try at this picking at the context clues off of this blind I would say Ann Curry or whatever her name was that use to be on the today show, the Today show would be the coveted and old job and the view as the messy show, who ever it is regardless I think the view is messy and they should stay clear of that hot mess of a show

    Hmm, definitely Katie Couric, who’s temporarily back on THE TODAY SHOW. THE VIEW is the trainwreck show. Unless she wants constant drama, she should forget THE VIEW–only an act of God could get that mess straight. 🙂 But bumping another woman for TTS would make for bad PR–and, again, drama she doesn’t need. Hard call.
