BONUS CLUE!
[Blind Gossip] We always find stories about a celebrity using the “Don’t you know who I am?” line amusing.
Here’s one that occurred when a major action star – who first became famous in the 1990s – was filming in a small rural town in the south.
We were filming part of [movie] in [town]. We were driving back and forth between sets and we kept passing this old man selling these cool handmade birdhouses out of his pickup truck on the side of the road.
[Actor] asked me to stop one day, because he wanted to buy one of the birdhouses. He got into a conversation with the old man.
After a couple of minutes, it was pretty apparent that this man had no idea he was talking to this world-famous movie star. As he’s handing the money to the man for the birdhouse, [Actor] said to him, “Don’t you know who I am?”
The old man shrugged and said, “No… but if you’ll tell me who your mommy and daddy are I might!”
I burst out laughing. [Actor] didn’t laugh. Yes, he takes himself pretty seriously.
BONUS CLUE: If you can’t figure this one out, you will absolutely get a roundhouse kick to the gut!

Michael Keaton became known before the 90s.
On a personal note, he is from my hometown and I have never heard any thing but positive comments about how he treats others. I would be very, very surprised to learn he pulled out the “do you know who I am” card. 🙂
PBCups says
This makes me happy to hear, because I love him.
Kingofboggle says
Jean-Claude Van Damme. Probably when he was filming “Hard Target” in the early 90s. He’s always been notorious for his ego

I don’t know who this is, but I know who this is not– Chuck Norris. He’s supposedly one of the nicest and most low-key actors out there.
Speaking of roundhouse kicks, if Chuck Norris snaps a redwood in the forest with a roundhouse., everybody hears it.

Yeah, but not too much. Money gives opportunities, and I’d use it to create opportunities for my kids with travel and education. Not really with stuff though. Life experience > Possessions.

Steven Sagal maybe. If I were famous as a young person-and I’ll say under 40-I would probably been more than a little smitten with myself. If I became famous as an old-then no. But there’s not a big call for famous granny character actors now days.
bhakti says
I saw Steven on the Warner Bros lot back in the day and he was so sweet. Super flirty and friendly. I didn’t sense an ego. Just a hot older (than me) man who appreciated pretty younger females. My friend and I were flattered and thought he was a gentleman. I don’t see him throwing his ego around like in this blind.
LooLoo says
That is so sweet, that sounds just like every old man I know in this neck of the woods. So sad that the actor couldn’t find it charming.

I don’t know who the actor is but this is just too funny!!! Too many actors (and actresses) take themselves entirely too seriously. Love it that someone had no clue “who” this idiot was.

Maybe Bruce Willis?

Sounds like something DiCaprio would do.
I am already pretty obnoxious but I would definitely change and become even more so at least in the beginning. After a while I would resort to some sort of balance between being obnoxious and nice.
Rofl my Wofl says
Not even close. DiCaprio’s a partier who changes women like other people change their underwear, hanging out on yachts and going to clubs in between making movies. But stopping by some rural roadside stands selling handcrafted birdhouses and expecting to be recognized is nothing like him. Not sure why anybody would think that.
ivy3499 says
My first thought was Michael Keaton because of his film Birdman but I know he was successful before the 90s so I’m not sure. Maybe Ben Affleck- birdhouse man/batman??
elphie says
Seagal ? Arnie or Willis? What’s throwing me is the comment about how the actor in question took himself pretty seriously… of course could have been Stallone…weren’t those Rambo films shot in the south (the US sites anyway)
