[Blind Gossip] If you were a fan of this television show that was popular last decade, you are probably excited that there is going to be limited revival of the show and its characters!

However, one character will be missing. We know why.

While [the producers] would love to have her back, she has become too big a star. Her salary would be more than the entire rest of the cast put together! Producers can’t afford it. However, they are trying to get her to agree to be in just one scene for old time’s sake. They’re even willing to work around her film schedule to do it.

The actress has great respect for the show’s creator, so we hope they are able to work something out… even if it is just a one-scene cameo!

Melissa McCarthy WILL join the Gilmore Girls revival after all!

The character she played on the original series, Sookie, is now being written into the limited Netflix series. From Deadline:

Melissa McCarthy Says Yes To ‘Gilmore Girls’ After All

For the last couple of months it’s looked like it wasn’t going to happen, but Melissa McCarthy is returning to Star Hollow after all and will be reprising her role as Sookie on Netflix’s Gilmore Girls revival. McCarthy went public with the news during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote her latest comedy pic Boss, explaining that severe scheduling conflicts needed to be dealt with first. “Literally about an hour ago, we figured out that I am gonna go back and do it!”, she said to loud cheers from the crowd.

Isn’t it an amazing coincidence that Melissa McCarthy’s scheduling and money issues were settled exactly one hour before her promotional TV appearance… for her film that opens TODAY?

If you believe that, you probably also believe that George Clooney will be appearing in the Facts of Life revival just for the sentimental value of it all.

    This is really sad that this is Melissa McCarthy. I think she should just do the series and be done with it, unless her schedule just won’t allow it overall. There’s gonna be someday where no one wants her anymore, and I think she’ll regret NOT having done this.

    I like sookie, but she wasn’t really that important. One scene of her saying oh look I’m doing well my kids are great and I’m still a cook and everyone would feel satisfied.

    By the way, they all made $1M per episode at the end. That is more than Aniston is worth on a film, if they did a short run of 12 episodes. So not buying she would get paid too much. Her box office isn;t that impressive.

    Gotta be Gilmore Girls, coming back on Netflix. Melissa McCarthy was so wonderful as Suki long before she became the big star she is today. Hope they find a way to get her back. She seems chill, so maybe it’ll work out.
    And yes, I am eagerly anticipating the redux.

    Why can’t the actress lower her fee for this particular spot? It doesn’t sound like a long term commitment and the way the BI is worded, she’s on good terms with everyone and would like to do it.

      Part of the problem is people, particularly women, frequently find themselves undervalued in the workplace. If she lowers her rates for one project, the studio for her next project will expect a deal. If she does a one-off cameo, she can honor her old show but not set precedent.
