Hush Money Dilemma

[Blind Gossip] When your reputation needs to be kept squeaky clean but your relatives won’t shut up about you, what do you do?

In the case of this recently-married actress, the solution is very simple… and very complicated!

Her family members are desperate for money. She could easily shut them all up if she paid them each a stipend every month. I heard that the total to all the individuals involved would be approximately $60,000 USD a month.

However, she does not have as large a nest egg as people might think and that nest egg would erode quickly. Her husband has the money, but would face enormous hurdles from his family if he tried to use his inheritance as hush money for the next fifty years!

There is also the unpleasant fact that her family members have thus far proven wildly unpredictable and unstable. Even with contracts, there are no guarantees that the stipends would result in both stability and silence.

    I just had a brainstorm. If Meghan does indeed want children then she should get on it. Trashy unprincipled family might still want to talk but nobody will go near someone who wants to slime an expectant Mom even if they do have dirt . People don’t think it is possible but in my lifetime I have seen emboldened trashy people buckle when they are about to get it and know they have gone too far

    Meghan Markle already bringing drama to the Royal family but then again she is from an industry that is not known for its traditional Conservative values and her family doesn’t strike me as being that either. Give MM credit she must be one of those so good in the sack that the targeted male thinks ” I have got to have this every night.” As far as her family she shouldn’t give in to that shake down. Eventually the well connected Royal family may have ways of shutting them up.

    I doubt family who hasn’t seen Meghan for years knows anything really juicy, but even if they did, you can only rent silence–you can’t buy it. Don’t pay them anything; just ignore it. It’s reflected poorly on the rogue relatives so far and I don’t doubt it’ll continue to be that way.

    This is of course the Duchess of Sussex and her Prince. What she should do is what she has done in the past- ignore them. Without new bits of gossip to sell there won’t be much they can do to embarrass her beyond continuing to embarrass themselves. If anything it will continue to add a little humanity to the royal family as everybody has that crazy uncle or crank sister in law to contend with.

Maybe I’m naive but it appears to me her legacy will always depict her as one of the greatest figure heads of all time (and again, I don’t think much PR was needed by her to have established this; and, being born into royalty or not – in QE II’s case she originally wasn’t considered for the throne until her uncle abdicated – shouldn’t affect whether one tries to live a principled life as much as one humanly can).

    Meghan Markle, clearly. It was a tactical error not to get her family involved from the start. Bring them to the UK, put them up in one of the castles, make them feel like part of the show instead of little children with their noses pressed against the outside of the bakery window.
