[Blind Gossip] They are trying to keep this under wraps, so there’s a bit of a misinformation campaign going on.

There is going to be a big event in the next few weeks. There is supposedly going to be a surprise guest/s performing.

They are doing regular rehearsals at [one location], and second “secret” rehearsals at another location. They want this to be kept this quiet up until the last minute.

We don’t know the identity of the surprise guest/s. However, the main party involved has lied before about their little surprises, so you should simply roll your eyes at all the denials that are currently happening, and enjoy the performance when it does happen!

It turns out that the secret guest wasn’t going to be a live person at all!

Justin Timberlake was hoping to perform side by side… with a hologram of Prince!

The iconic “Purple Rain” singer and performer was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the location of the Super Bowl.

The secondary location we discussed was a space that was set up to practice the technical projection and Timberlake’s interaction with the hologram.

They wound up scrapping the idea before the Super Bowl.

We don’t know if the technical challenges – or the challenges from Prince’s friends and family – caused producers to scrap the plan, but the end result was a more subdued and less technical performance.

Justin Timberlake sat at a piano and sang “I Would Die 4 U” while a video of Prince played on a giant sheet behind him.

It’s time to see what Justin Timberlake has planned for halftime. One thing we know now is that it won’t involve a hologram.

Over the weekend, rumors popped up about Timberlake wanting to bust out a hologram of the Purple One during his Super Bowl LII halftime show. It was going to be part of a tribute to Prince and his many connections to Minneapolis, Minnesota and the Vikings.

But according to longtime Prince pal Sheila E., she spoke to Timberlake on Saturday night and confirmed there will be no hologram during the halftime show.

The goal of the hologram, apparently, was to try and honor Prince. But Prince, in an old 1998 interview with Guitar World, said playing with a hologram of a deceased musician would be “the most demonic imaginable.”

“That’s the most demonic thing imaginable,” Prince said at the time. “Everything is as it is, and it should be. If I was meant to jam with Duke Ellington, we would have lived in the same age. That whole virtual reality thing … it really is demonic. And I am not a demon. Also, what they did with that Beatles song [‘Free As a Bird’], manipulating John Lennon’s voice to have him singing from across the grave … that’ll never happen to me. To prevent that kind of thing from happening is another reason why I want artistic control.”

Busting out a hologram of Prince at the Super Bowl in Minnesota this soon after Prince died would NOT sit well with the wishes of the music legend.

Sheila E is Prince’s former fiancée, friend and longtime collaborator.

No one got this one correctly, likely because you were all thinking of a live performer like Janet Jackson or NSYNC.

    My team is in it….AGAIN! so I will be too busy bringing out wings and meatball sliders and replenishing chip and dip platters to see the half-time show. With all of the controversy surrounding the NFL, I wonder who thought it was a good idea to bring that dynamic duo back for half-time. Hey, NFL- Not enough fans tuning out?

    He should open a PR firm and be his only client. That way he coukd spend whole days thinking, talking about and promoting himself and his projects. Probably make him happier than he’s ever been in his life.

    The Center-of-his-own-universe wil trek in from his manly woods in time to graciously allow Janet to join him on stage at the Super Bowl. No doubt that he will demand accolades for doing what he should have done years ago which is tell the truth about the stunt that they both planned. That would require strength of character, of which he has none, and humility which he has proven time and again that he doesn’t consider to be a valuable trait. Worse, he has a marked ego-talent discrepancy.

    Of course I’ll be watching and rooting for Philly. I’m sick of New England. The half time performances are usually almost as good as the game itself. Lady Gaga’s performance was kinda lackluster. Katy Perry was exceptionally good, but Beyonce killed it, saving us from the yawn fest of Coldplay. GO EAGLES !!

      it’s another n’sync reunion. Joey denied it by saying that if there was another reunion that they would be practicing, but he’s not practicing so….

      this is a lie. He the same exact thing prior to their 1st reunion with Justin at an awards show years back.

      they’re practicing alright, and I won’t watch the show bc I don’t really care about Timberlake or the other guys.

      Beyonce’s killed it? Have to vehemently disagree. Her performance was not good; terrible I’d say and immensely disappointing. She didn’t sing more than 3 words which one could not hear as she has such a thin voice and no range. She just wiggled her bum around….and I had special zapped in just to see her.

      Coffeemad – puh-lease. Coldplay’s scheduled appearance was met with a collective “WTF ?” Beyonce and Bruno Mars were added for rescue relief from boredom. Beyonce’s controversial performance had folks talking and created hype. That’s what a superstar brings to the table and why she was brought aboard.
