Creepy Love Interest

[Blind Gossip] They are supposed to be playing love interests in an upcoming remake of a classic movie. However, this talented young actress actually found it difficult to muster up any emotional attraction to her costar.

She says that he just seemed way too old for her or her character. More like a dad than a boyfriend. She found him creepy. She thought it was weird that he was always taking his shirt off around her, even when it wasn’t in the scene, like he was just trying to get her to look at him and comment on his body.

Of course, she’s not going to say any of that because she’s professional. She’ll talk about how cute and talented he is. But when she talks about him privately, she definitely uses the word creepy!

    ugh….this is the first I have heard of a Dirty Dancing remake. Please, NO!!!!

    And this BI makes me want to see it EVEN LESS if that is possible (as I cry into my DVD of the original movie)

    I like Dan Stevens as an actor but I’m pretty sure he’s at least a decade or so older than Emma Watson.

    Optional: If I remember correctly, Belle is like 18 and the Beast is supposed to be in his early 20’s?

    I know they’re doing a remake of A Star is Born, but would Lady Gaga be considered a talented young actress? She’s more of a talented young performer.

      Just realized, there’s also Mary Poppins Returns…but that’s really a sequel. Otherwise, my 2nd guess is Emily Blunt and Colin Firth.

    There was also a big age gap between Clint Eastwood, the lead actor in the original 1971 film and the actress who played one of his love interests (I believe Elle is playing the same role but with a different name) in the film. Clint and this actress had an affair–she later revealed it!

    I last saw that Jack … movie with Tom Cruise in it. I thought it was weird because he takes his shirt of a few times and he seems in shame, but just too old.
    I guess it s about him. He seems very insecure about aging

    Her co-star is Broadway dancer, Colt Prattes, who looks older and has an amazingly ripped body.

    I don’t know how old the characters are supposed to be, but in my mind I had Baby at 16 or 17, and Johnny at about 20-21…kinda a fantasy…innocent teenage good girl and an older bad boy.

    I don’t think they should mess with perfection. “Dirty Dancing” IS Jennifer Gray and Patrick Swayze. Period.

    Swayze was 34 and Grey was 27 in the original, both were a decade older than their characters. The tv remake really flubbed casting, Abigail has zero sex appeal and looks 13 unlike Grey’s sweet sexiness. Swayze also oozed tough sex appeal even in tights and looked young. Pratte looks his age and Swayze’s toned body didn’t look clinically fake and overdone like Pratt. Swayze looked sexy and natural for a dancer (which he was.)

    Overboard is the only movie that comes to mind. I think casting Eugenio Derbez with Anna Faris is bizarre. He’s 14 years her senior and definitely looks like a creeper.

    [Optional] How old are their characters supposed to be?
    30s-40s would be fine, but think they shouldn’t cast them more than 10 years apart in age difference.

    This has to be Abigail Breslin and that jon doe with the remake that nobody asked for of Dirty Dancing. Just saw the pics, and dude he looks OLD compared to forever babyfaced Abigail.

    Optional: um. I don’t remember, but I think there was supposed to be a bit of an age difference in the original? I hated that movie though (don’t yell at me!) so I really don’t know.

    I’m guessing this is about Dirty Dancing with Abigail Breslin. Stills from the remake just came out, and the guy does look a lot older than her. And because Abigail looks/is so young, the (supposed) chemistry feels off.

    I think the character of Baby is supposed to be 17 turning 18 soon – she’s planning to attend Mount Holyoke College in the fall. I think Johnny is supposed to be 24.

      Certain movies, like certain ball player numbers, should just be retired from remakes when the original story plus cast are so great that remakes could never do them justice.

      Agreed. All of the casting is terrible, except for Katey Sagal as Vivian Pressman. She is perfection, and I predict she will steal the show. I’m going to watch this mess just to see her.
