Artists Do Not Have Rules

[Blind Gossip] This movie star has a drinking problem. He knows it, everybody knows it. He’s not a fun drunk, either. He gets nasty and violent.

After his most recent incident, we asked someone close to the situation about his problem. He didn’t go through a formal rehab program last time. He did the private counseling thing instead. Was that a mistake?

He won’t go to rehab. Rehab is all rules and structure. He doesn’t like rules. He doesn’t like structure. He thinks it compromises him as an artist. He says that once you follow somebody else’s rules, you are no longer an artist.

Well, choosing artistry over sobriety is creating problems for him again. Is there anyone who can help him move back towards sobriety?

Ha ha. No. He doesn’t have any projects in production, so no studio has any say. It’s not like he has anywhere he has to be in the morning. He used to get like ten offers a year, but he’s got nothing right now, so there’s nothing and no one for him to be accountable to. He still has plenty of money so he doesn’t have to work.

We’ll probably just have to wait until he gets arrested (again) before he gets help.

    I think this is Johnny Depp. Shia is a good guess too but something tells me he was never in a position to get tens of offers a year.

      I don’t think it could be Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The blind says no projects in production, but JRM has a big role in the upcoming season of “Vikings.”

    The law has rarely applied to him and the masses still love him – flocking to his defense when he was publicly revealed to be a domestic abuser. All of his heroes are drug addicts / alcoholics and he seems to think it’s arty and romantic to go out that way..

    For me, Depp lost his “artistry” a long time ago.

    Actor : Shia – I am not famous anymore- LaBeouf – om imdb he has nada for 2017 except one film in postproduction and nothing lined up for 2018..

    Rules work pretty well for the danish dogme films..

    He recently had an incident where after drinking for hours in a deli he began yelling and screaming at an employee, calling him a racist and cursing. Shia had to be escorted from the deli. Apparently the argument started over French fries, but Shia yelled something about Tennessee too.

    An artist probably doesn’t have rules when it comes to his art, but the artist has to live in the real world, so yes, he should have rules and regulations in other areas of his life.

    Artists can’t have Rules? Nonsense. Every artistic expression has certain ‘rules’ within its medium in order to develop skills, whether it’s acting, directing, editing, singing, composing, playing an instrument, writing, drawing, photography, design, etc.

    Great artists share their visions after mastering their craft brilliantly – and can break ‘rules’ creating masterpieces.

    Shia is undisciplined and out of control=spoiled brat. That’s hardly artistic licence.

    He has been “tripping” for a while now. That he has no projects lined up is indicative of how far he’s fallen. Maybe another arrest and court ordered sobriety will get him to address his self destructive issues. True artists are committed to their projects and want to elevate their work to the highest possible levels, not drown in excuses and mediocrity (and booze).

    Optional: True artists have rules. It takes discipline to create, not booze. His excuse is ten levels of lame.

      Optional: I feel so bad for him. I’ll admit, sometimes he does get very “Jaden Smith” about his art and whatnot, but at the end of the day he is an amazing actor especially with his more recent work IMO. With how he was raised, I’m not surprised he has issues but I hope he gets it together before it’s too late. He probably just gave that excuse about rules because he’s an addict.

      Hahahaha but yeah he was pounding beers for hours according to articles on it… getting kicked out of anywhere is typically code for drunk lol let alone a gd bowling alley. I love how shia’s thing when he’s drunk is being a ~normal dude~.

    This has to be Shia Laboeuf. He has no projects in the works. He strikes me as the type who thinks he’s an “artiste” and hates structure. He’s an idiot.

      don’t think it is alec he is on SNL regularly and he has 1 preproduction, 1 filming, 1 completed, and 2 in post production

      depp has “the invisible man” and “the libertine” announced , another in preproduction, filming gnomeo and juliet, and 4 others in post

      No, this sounds like Johnny Depp. Some of these details came out when he was divorcing and he still considers himself an “artist”. Hence the weird/quirky movie roles.
