Comedians In Glass Houses

[Blind Gossip] It is a little surprising that this female comedian is making fun of the foreign birth and accented speech of this former model (who is now the wife of one of the most famous men in the world).

You would think that she would be a little more compassionate.

Why?

Because half of the comedian’s own family didn’t speak English growing up!

Her mother was born and raised in Europe and didn’t come to the United States until she was an adult. Her English got much better over the years, but she did have an accent. In fact, some of the relatives from her mother’s side spoke with such heavy accents that it was difficult to understand what they were saying!

Perhaps comedians in glass houses shouldn’t thrown stones?

    Not nice Chelsea, I guess anything for attention. Wow, here in Canada we are such a land of immigrants. Most of my friends are first generation so all of our parents have accents from all over the world!!

    Sadly, I speak only English as this is what was spoken in our household (Polish dad Italian mom that was their commom languange). My husband’s first language was Ukrainian although he was born here.

    CH is so desperate for attention you would think she was an 18 year old starlet. Her schtick of flashing her boobs, berating children, drinking and now this shows just how over the hill she is. She looks and sounds ridiculous and is so not funny. Wish she would just go away – maybe Canada will take her.

    Not condoning what Chelsea said, but perhaps she is using her own mother as an example of someone who worked on improving her speech and is not recognizing that characteristic in Melania.

    However, my mother in law is an immigrant, and despite living in the US for over 25 years (and even learning English while in her native country in school), she still has a heavy accent. It’s just harder for some…

    Pure political tribalism, Chelsea, just own up to it. If this were, say, Penelope Cruz, she wouldn’t hesitate to have her on and would no doubt find her accent “charming.” Political hysteria making Chelsea even more tiresome than usual.

    How many languages do you speak? As an ex-pat myself, I speak two, and it’s humbling—learning a language as an adult ain’t easy. Kudos to anyone…

      Oh & I speak 2 languages: english & an italian (my mum’s) dialect (Calabrese). AND I studied french at school….so I can ask for a coffee or ice-cream (as long as it’s chocolate) and declare the contents of a table (as long as it’s a doll, ruler, cat or dog). VERY handy. ?

    optional: german(not my native language) and bit englisch (it’s always much better when I’m not very sober 😀 ) . I can also understand lot of dutch (because I know german) and lot of other slavic languages (because I’m Polish and slavic languages are all similar+ there are lot of latin words everywhere, and there are similar in every language).

    I am fluent in English, both oral and British Sign Language and I have been slowly learning Japanese (both orally and written) for a few years, I’m not fluent yet but I am getting there and I understand enough to be able to watch a Japanese film and know what is being said, so I understand and write more than I can say properly myself, if that makes sense?

    I’m thinking this is Gigi Hadid, but I don’t think of her as a comedian, so I’m probably wrong.
    My guess is this was her imitation of Melania Knauss Trump, wife of The *Resident of the United States.
    I speak five languages well and can survive in another six, but I’m sure my accent in each of them has natives rolling with suppressed laughter.
    I feel weirdly sorry for Melania. i don’t believe that Mr. Trump knows how to carry on a normal conversation with a wife.

She is not the one who ran for the presidency; she is not the one who has speech malfunctions; she is the one who time and again has told her husband to “act more presidential”. Why are people picking on her? She speaks something like 5 languages, so of course she will have an accent in some of them.

    All of my maternal relatives that were my grandmother’s age had heavy German accents even though they were born and raised in the US. Everyone in their small community spoke German as their first language.
