She had a big career for many years. Three to four films a year at her peak, plus a major award or two. She is also one of the nicer people in Hollywood. Good work ethic, treats her colleagues well, etc.

Then she stepped away for a bit of a rest.

When she made her big “come back” this year, she thought everyone would embrace her and her projects. Instead, her first project flopped and she faced criticism over her changed looks.

[Her female contemporaries] each have a dozen projects in production or in development. [Our actress] has one in post… and she’s booked ZERO new projects since [her newest film] flopped. That’s not good.

Ouch. No wonder she’s depressed!

    This is definitely Rene Zellweger. She should try non-Hollywood ventures, ie, cable shows, T.V., Netflix series, etc.

    Everybody thinks it’s because of her plastic surgery. I disagree. Nobody cares about that. What they do care about is that she left the business toward the end of her prime and now she’s out-aged the roles she wants and expects. It’s not going to happen – that ship has sailed. She’s also quite self-important and writes op-eds like she’s some kind of intellectual…

    Yep, Zellweger. Charlize Theron is an example of aging gracefully. If you get facial work done…be VERY mindful of any work performed on the eyes, cheekbone implants can be a face ravager..and too much botox.

    Rene Zellweger. Look she is almost 50, so she has had a long run in Hollywood. I think her film days may be behind her. But that doesn’t mean she can’t still try for roles! What about something juicy in a small, independent film? Something fun, since she seems to shine in that environment?

    I would tell her I really enjoyed BJB and that hollywood is incredibly sexist in the way they treat aging men over aging females but what’s new? It is what it is and there is more to life than being famous and to find some more things to do that you enjoy if hollywood doesn’t embrace you. Good luck ?❤

    It has to be Renee Z., I like her she had me at Empire Records. I’ve read all the books/columns/films about Bridget, both the last film and book ruined the whole character.
    The lost movie was like they stole the plot from a Koean josei manga.

    Uma Thurman. It is so sad. She is/was one of my fav actresses. She * with her face. WHY?????

    I can’t even figure out what she did but it is different and not in a good way. :-{

    My advice: one foot in front of the other, one day at a time. Meds, therapy and distraction. This could be situational depression which is very similar regular ole’ depression except it hits people who may not be usually depressed.

    And…change your face back!

    Advice: Do a movie that involves a major appearance change–like playing an alien, wearing old-age makeup, or doing a biopic that features a physical makeover–so the attention shifts from her changed looks to her acting chops.

    Blind mentions awards, and she does have an academy award. She also has shown a different looking face and far as I know that last Bridget Jones movie was the only movie she’s had out this year. Also yup she has one film in post production too. Soo….that’s my guess.

    Just live your life, be secure in who you are, and do the best you can.

    Optional: I would tell her to keep trying. It’s going to take time to build her career back up. Times have changed so she’s going to have to do the whole social media thing, as well as networking, paparazzi shots, etc. Maybe she could do an interview about her changed looks and do a tell all? Basically she has to work to become bankable and “relevant” again before she can get her career back on track.

    Unfortunately that’s Hollywood! You get blasted for looking ‘normal’ or ageing, then ridiculed for plastic surgery that Hollywood led you to.

    Why not try something other than rom-coms? Consider supporting roles that have meaty potential. Look into live theater-you’ve done that before, right?
    There are some fabulous short run projects on cable networks that are amazing. For example, a 4-6 longer episode eries. Franco did the one on Kennedy and time travel recently and it was wonderful! I think you could shine. Take care of your health first. Ignore shallow fakes. You’re a great actress & an even better person…

    Renee Zellweger Her new Bridget movie flopped. It should have never been made.
    Optional: She is slowly morphing back into her new face. She’s probably not keeping up with refreshers to maintain her new face. My advice would be to ensure her money is well invested. If she lives in a mega home, downsize to something she can manage. She may also want to try out behind the cameras work.

      I see a lot of comments on here referring to her ‘rom com’ career…..she actually
      is much more than that. Very talented actress. Remember Cold Mountain?
      She was a revelation in that movie, and I never looked at her the same way again.
      Won the Academy award for it also.
      And she was fantastic in Chicago, a musical. Hopefully she will rise above all this, she certainly has the talent.
      Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.

    Renee Zellweger. She stepped away for 6 years and changed her face too much. I doubt she will back to her former level of success.

    Advice: do a Broadway show, do a season on a prestigious cable TV show, or start going for supporting roles in anything relevant.

      Very good advice. With the amount of money she must have, she can do anything she wants, start a business, start renovating homes, do something you are really interested in. What does she expect taking 6 years off, you will be forgotten in that industry, she should have kept a toe in, doing one project per year just to stay in the lime light a little, wasn’t a smart business move.

    She messed majorly with her face, what does she expect? It was the same with that girl played “baby” in the dance movie. Plus she’s always been vanilla. Move on.

      Agreed. She (Jennifer) may not have liked her nose, but it was her most distinctive feature. I still don’t recognize her anymore until I see her name in the credits for anything she’s done since that nose job.

      Really sad, too. LOVED her in Ferris Beuler and Dirty Dancing… She was unique and really stood out. Now she’s just like anyone else.

      I think it’s her age more than her eyes. She’s “old” by Hollywood standards, and she hasn’t aged as well as some of her counterparts. She could probably get a lot of work as a supporting or character actress now.

      I think asking someone about plastic surgery is rude. It really is nobody’s business. When people ask me questions I consider rude or none of their business, I give snarky responses. Same thing with someone’s sexuality, political choices, income, etc… Personally, I always found her annoying, so changing her look didn’t change my opinion of her. The press would never ask a male actor about their plastic surgery – hypocritical.

      I never cared for her, either. I always found her to be somewhat haughty and condescending, and for that reason I avoid all of her projects, appearances, etc.
