[Blind Gossip] This foreign-born, over-40 actor has had a great career, but his appearance may permanently change soon!
He has to make a decision about plastic surgery. No, he’s not getting a face lift or a hair transplant. It’s his eyes. He doesn’t mind looking mature and a bit craggy, but his upper lids are now drooping so badly that they are starting to affect his vision!
This is a big decision for him for several reasons.
First, he has never had ANY plastic surgery of any kind. Despite some of the macho characters he has played, he’s a bit squeamish about the whole surgery thing.
Second, he knows that changing his eyes could make him unrecognizable, and he absolutely does not want to change his entire look (e.g. Renee Zellweger, Mickey Rourke).
Third, he has seen plastic surgery ruin the looks and careers of other actors (e.g. Rupert Everett, Meg Ryan) and he figures he has at least one more Academy Award in him if he keeps working.
So, will our movie star age naturally like a Robert Redford, or try to look eternally beautiful via plastic surgery like a Tom Cruise?
We should know in a couple of months. He has a film in post-production, and he has to wait until he is sure they have all the shots they need before making any changes.

I didn’t read the clue all the way through…I know, right? My original choice was Daniel Craig, but he’s never won an Oscar. So this must be Russell Crowe. He is sorta pudgy-looking and bloated these days. Just whatever you do…don’t get cheekbone implants. They morph and distort one’s face into Frankenstein territory. The newer mini or lifestyle lifts, appear to make one look refreshed and well rested. Less is sometimes more.
katheryn says
FYI Robert Redford had his eyes done, maybe not his face but definitely his eyes sometime back. I love Robert Redford and was so disappointed he did so. As for this guy needing surgery, just find a very good surgeon, they are out there, but you have to pay for it.

If it is starting to affect his vision I think he should have the surgery. Also if he really wants to look younger/better or whatever just go ahead with the surgery, of course he should also be careful.
jenndt says
This has to be Liam Neeson. He won an Oscar for Schindler’s list. He seems like such a down to earth guy, never having had plastic surgery before. And he’s been in a string of action movies the last several years.
KCeagle says
I think this is Daniel Craig. Hasn’t he signed on for the next Bond film. Craig was nearly replaced and every English actor under 50 were vying to step in. Wasn’t this why the world was subjected to the cringe-worthy Summer romance of Tom Hiddleston Taylor Swift? Hiddleston was being vetted and bearded to be the new 007. Benicio doesn’t require hair treatments. Why would Russell Crowe need a middle-aged makeover? No vanity or blockbuster movie franchise is in the works for him. Craig,…

I agree with the Russell Crowe guesses.
Yes, he needs to have it done if it’s affecting his vision. My dad had it done, and it really only made him look less sleepy. It was done by his Ophthalmologist at the same time he had a cataract removed. I inherited my dad’s hound-dog eyes, and have been looking into this myself.

Definitely Russell Crowe.
Both Renee & Meg are mentioned in this, as is Tom Cruise who co-stars in The Mummy, which is Crowe’s film in post-production. I also feel like “eternally beautiful” is a weird phrase to use, so it probably is a reference to “A Beautiful Mind” and/or his quote from Gladiator, “What we do in life echoes in eternity.”
Poubelle says
Also, he’s currently on Italian TV basically every ten minutes, in a commercial for Vodafone phones, and he looks great – in that too-smooth, “I’ve dabbled a bit with Botox and fillers, but just subtly”way. So he’s already had some kind of light surgery.

Poor Russell, he has droop eye bad, like my cousin.

No guesses as to actor, but this is a condition that needs surgical intervention. My sister-in-law had this. The eyes were becoming “Hooded.” and her vision was terrible. So whoever it is, sounds legit. There is visual loss with hooded eyelids.

Silverdun says
At first I thought it was Hugh Grant but he’s never been macho lol
Actor: Russell Crowe
mention of Meg Ryan his ex, also the film in post production is The Mummy.
If it’s affecting his vision a very well done lift should help, but it needs to be subtle. Plastic surgery often hits a nut with a sledgehammer. Like Renee. If she had cited her vision being a problem, people would’ve accepted her surgery, but to deny it and have it done so much is laughable!
he needs to be very careful.

Daniel Craig (based on “craggy”)

I have no idea who this could be, but if this is affecting his vision he should get it done. I was having problems with my vision and had it done due to medical reasons. It did improve my appearance ( I always looked tired before), but did not drastically change my appearance. In fact the people who didn’t know about the surgery never said anything about a change in my appearance.
I see so much better now. I had the surgery done by an opthomologist not a cosmetic surgeon.

I don’t know who this is, but this sounds like a legitimate case to have plastic surgery. Something is affecting your health and he needs to have it corrected. Just don’t cheap out, go to the best and I’ll bet he’ll look natural after everything heals up.

Russell Crowe
Should he get them done? If it affects his sight, then yes, but honestly I love that man no matter what, He is my ULTIMATE celebrity crush!
lovefifteen says
Probably Russell Crowe based on the clues foreign-born, having one film in post-production, and being an Oscar winner with one more Oscar in him.
Plus if you look at recent pics of him, it’s true that his eyelids are droopy.
He should probably get the work done if it’s affecting his vision, but it is true there is a huge risk of damaging his career if the procedure goes badly.
lovefifteen says
Also, macho roles leads me to think of Russell. And the inclusion of Renee and especially Meg Ryan in this blind might be nods to him.
foraccts says
Agreed, I think it’s Crowe too. Both my mother in law and sister in law had to have this procedure due to droopy lids. MIL looked great but SIL always looks surprised.

Russell Crowe. He won for Gladiator in 2001 and he doesn’t look like he’s had any plastic surgery in the past. In his photos his eyelids look droopy….he should take care of it so they don’t affect his vision. He’s got The Mummy in post-production right now.

Yep, think you got it. If he does, maybe he will remove the lump in the middle of his forehead too.

The clues definitely for Russell Crowe. The Meg Ryan hint, plus he starred in Cinderella Man with Renee. Also “eternally beautiful” = A Beautiful Mind.

I like these plays on the clues.
Agree it could be him or Javier Bardem. I’d say Crowe has played more macho characters, though.
skittykitty says
I think you’re right.
If the surgery was just for vanity purposes then I would suggest it’s a bad idea. However, if your vision is impaired then it is a pretty necessary evil. My mum had it done because she couldn’t see and it is hardly even noticeable. But it’s made a huge difference to her being able to lead the life she wants.

This has to be the sexy, macho, and craggy look of dear Daniel Craig. Recent talk about him having one more JB movie in him.
I would think that a less invasive procedure would be fine for now, but i his vision is being obscured due to sagging eye lids, it may be time to have a bit of a nip/tuck.
