woman-jail-1[Blind Gossip] This young film actress made a big deal for the cameras about how unfair it was that she was arrested and tried to make it seem like she was singled out because she was famous.

[The police] didn’t know and didn’t care who she was. She wasn’t singled out. She was one of dozens arrested.

At least she didn’t pull the “Don’t you know who I am?” line. Well, not quite.

She kept saying, “I’m well-known. I’m well-known.” The officers just looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. They didn’t know who she was.

She wasn’t a very good spokesperson for her cause, either.

When celebrities get arrested for a cause, they make sure that at the time of their arrest to keep talking about the cause so the cameras capture it. This one talked about herself. Dummy.

Finally, she wasn’t so dauntless once in custody.

She was crying at the station.

    It’s that Shailene Woodley girl. I live in a huge city, read the blogs, and am up to date (mostly) with knowing what’s going up (and down) in Tinseltown — somehow I don’t think that cops from western North Dakota would even know or give a flying fox about who she is…lol!

    If I was being arrested as part of a protest or something I was taking a stand on, no. If I was being arrested for something stupid I had done, hell yes I’d try to sweet talk the officers and play up my fame (but not be an arrogant jerk about it).

    I get so annoyed with any celeb preaching various causes, most are absolute hypocrites (Leo DiCrapio, Michael Stipe, Elton John as prime examples). Can use your celebrity to raise awareness, but most are just mouthpieces who don’t want to actually do squat. (I do PR and have worked with many for various causes.) I have more respect for those who want to get in the trenches.

    Obviously Shailene. Unless you’ve been arrested, you have no idea how intimidating jail can be so I don’t blame her for trying to use her fame a little (but not aggressively) and I especially don’t blame her for crying.

    Actually, I see it a bit differently. I think she knew she’d be arrested, that’s why she streamed the protest. She can afford to go to jail, others can’t. She took one for he team. (How I see it anyway.)
    Some of the stuff she said, was to get a reaction from the police, but they didn’t go for it.
    But she is young and inexperienced (and a bit dumb) and handled some things the wrong way, making her appear whiny and self absorbed.

    I really dislike Shailene Woodley, and I’m not even sure why. She’s just….ugh.
    the last thing I would do if I were famous and facing arrest would try to call attention to me, everybody has bodycams nowadays. I wouldn’t really want to be in the news screaming “do you know who I am? I’m an American….”

    She is the only famous person trying to help with the issue of the Dakota Access Pipeline and the whole protest has been largely ignored by the media, so just having the story of her arrest out there is at least getting it some media attention. I don’t think she was trying to use her fame to avoid arrest, I think she was using it more to get media attention.

      Are you being facetious? I think she was generally concerned about the water issue and followed her heart. I don’t think this was calculated by a PR person. IMO. Not everyone has the kardashian mom/Angelina Jolie/or Taylor swift PR people on their staff.

      Agreed. I feel like she followed her heart and didn’t have an agent or publicist telling her what she should do to “make her self look better”. I’ve never watched her movies, wouldn’t be able to pick her up from a line up- but I know her now. ❤️
