The two are in the midst of a very bitter breakup – where she basically put him out the house. They say that she got him to basically write her new album, and then gave him the boot.
He was planning on going quietly if your fave would cut him a giant check – but she’s balking at the idea. That leaves dude with no choice but to sue for her publishing… given that he wrote her lyrics.
