[Blind Gossip] This movie star showed up at a bar with some of his posse a few days ago. They drank for a couple of hours, racking up a big bill. The movie star covered the bill for everyone, then left a tip for the server in cash.

Generous, right? Not so much.

He left a tip of 1% in cash. One lousy percent. He made a comment about the server. “You don’t reward ugly.” Guess she wasn’t up to his standards.

    I always leave 20% unless the server is rude or horrendous, then usually 15%.
    If I can’t afford to leave a tip, then I don’t go out to dinner.

    They generally work very hard and rely on tips as their income.

    I was absolutely on the Leonardo di Caprio bandwagon until news broke of Miles Teller being arrested in San Diego for being drunk in public and belligerent/non-cooperative with the police. Miles has a rep as being a jerk, so I’m going with him.

    because of the keyword, “posse” i’m guessing leo too but that is WAY lame. He really has a warped sense of values if that is true. Ugly is as ugly does…… guess he’s never heard of that.

    I tip based on their attitude and service and I have left little to no tips but that is because they were rude and didn’t give good service. Usually I leave around 20 percent.

    How do I break it to Leo…he’s ugly. He’s disgusting, gross and hasn’t been good looking since the Titanic when he was in his early 20’s. He’s also very out of shape. Never actually found him attractive. Even in his 20’s. Also…don’t think he’s that great of an actor.

    Ok probably not, but maybe the server had a bad attitude and he meant that her actions were ugly. A hot babe who doesn’t care about others sounds a lot more likely to be a server in a place where moviestars drink than a homely girl.

    Leo D or Tobey M. I wish someone would have overheard him and replied “but someone rewarded you.” If these two men didn’t have celebrity and money, no one would look at them twice. They certainly aren’t anything to admire, physically or intellectually.

    I naturally outgrew my Leo crush decades ago, but in these last few years I’ve become revolted by him. NY Mag reposted an old article from the height of the P-Party era and it enlightened me on his gross misogyny. Since I was abroad, I decided to check out the infamous Don’s Plum movie. Back in the day his PR people always insisted the lawsuit was about protecting TM, but there was no way Leo’s heartthrob status would have survived his disgusting improvisational choices. He was a total pig!

    According to the blind his tip was predicated on his opinion of her looks, not bad service, so we aren’t applying different standards. A non-famous person who said and did the same thing would be just as much of a pig. Just sayin’.

    I think this is Leo. He is pudgy, so not really understanding the ugly comment. I wonder if he might be able to lose weight if only pretty people went to his movies- no moolah, then no food. Maybe this is a tactic he should employ, I don’t suppose his lack of character can be corrected at this point.

    I always tip at least a dollar a drink which usually ends up usually being about 15 percent. What a freaking cheap skate whoever it is.

    Too bad I don’t know who this is. I would refrain from watching his movies. I don’t reward “ugly” either, as in ugly behavior. That was pretty nasty of him and who is he to judge? When Mel Gibson was stopped by police and make all those obscene and prejudiced statements, that did it for my enjoyment of his acting. Never watched another movie of his. Same thing for Woody Allen and Michael Jackson. I find out someone is ugly on the inside, and it’s OVER.

    If this is him it explains why he has lost his looks as his outside is only reflecting who is inside.

    I tip everyone equally regardless of looks at restaurants. If this one hot delivery guy comes to my house and make others answer so I don’t make a fool of myself so half the time he doesn’t get a tip.

    Definitely don’t tip better if their I good looking. But if I can get them to break out of “server mode” and not be robotic I’ll tip more. And of course, efficiency and anticipating needs always make a tip bigger. I delivered pizzas for years, so I tip big in general. People who have lived on tips always tip well.

    Optional: no. When it’s tip time, I choose 15%, 20%, or 25% according to my experience. Those numbers are easy to calculate in your head, as well.

    I tip 15-20% and maybe even a little more if they’re really good no matter what they look like. He really needs to grow up whether this is Leo or someone else. Bad manners are unattractive all around.

      I heard Leo is actually a nice guy. Yes, superficial but that doesn’t necessarely make him a bad or nasty guy. That being said, I don’t personally know him, but I don’t know why people always assume that a guy is a bad person just because he’s a womanizer.

    Movie Star: This must be Leo DiCaprio. Wow….I really dislike that guy. What a pig! I don’t know where he gets off on criticizing women’s looks and bodies. He looks like a pudgy toad. My husband is ten years older and is in much better shape.

    Do you tip better-looking people more? No. I always overtip…good looking, average looking, bad service, good service. Whatever! I catered for 20+ years and the tips made it all worthwhile. I believe in tipping karma.

      Yes, I tip the optimal for good service. I fear this is about Leo and if true, I am so sorry, he should be much less critical since he is not in such optimal shape himself.

      I will tip well enough for good service. And while i understand sometimes things beyond the server’s control can happen, if i need a drink refill and the place isn’t busy but the servers are busy chatting with each other, it will definitely hurt their tip.

    Terrible. I have no idea how this is, but that is no way to treat people. If the person performed her job well, she deserved at least 10%. But what tends to go around comes around. Regarding tipping well, I tip people who perform well and are friendly. Looks have no basis in the equation. Even if someone still performs their job well and are quiet and professional, I still tip well.

    I have no idea, but yuck!!! Hollywood is filled with entitled jerks. I feel like “racking up” is a clue, but I’m too lazy to do any research.

      iD never believe this. He’s known to be the most generous of actors. He gave most his money away when he did matrix. Even gave motorcycles to matrix special effects after making matrix.

      I’d never think of Keanu for something like this. He’s been extremely generous over the past few years so I can’t imagine him being cheap all of a sudden.

    Leo? “Posse” makes me think of him. I don’t care for what he said, it’s so insensitive and demeaning and a frightening glimpse into his mindset on women.

    Optional: I tip 20% and It has never entered my mind to tip someone more because of their looks. I tip because certain employees rely on tips for their financial survival.

    Probably Leo. But maybe the server sucked. Why should he tip big for bad service just because he is a movie star? I’ve given lousy tips when the server is bad — why are we applying different standards to famous people? Just saying. ‘

      You’re ignoring the reason he tipped poorly. It has nothing to do with poor service or the fact that he’s famous.
