Boo Hoo In The Bathroom

woman crying 8 [Blind Gossip] This Actress was one of the Oscar nominees. While she put on a brave and happy face when someone else won the Oscar for her category, she was caught crying in the bathroom later on. Nothing loud or overly dramatic. Just private little sobs of disappointment.

When another woman (who appeared to know the actress) quietly tried to give her a “You shouldn’t be upset because it’s such an honor just to be nominated” pep talk, The Actress claimed that she was not upset because she lost to [Oscar Winner]. She was upset because she was afraid that it was her “one big chance” and asked “What if I’m never nominated for anything ever again?”

The woman gave her a big hug and assured her that she would be. We think she’s right.

Actress: Amy Adams… it was her first nomination right?

    Oscar Winner: Cate Blanchett

    • aeduko says

I think you’ve got it. They’d know each other as they both worked on the film together.

    • JenJenJen says

Agreed. Sally Hawkins is brilliant though so it won’t be the last time we see her at these events.

  2. melly123 says

Sally Hawkins, Oscar Winner being Lupita Nyong’o. Every other actress nominated is a big name and has either won or been nominated before. The only other one is June Squibb who is in her 80’s. Doubt she’ll be nominated again

    • KatarinaJ says

adams for sure will get a gazillion roles. she is a hollywood darling and young. no doubt more of an obscure nominee not in line for her pick of roles.

    • classybgyrl says

This…Amy had plastered a fake smile but her eyes looked like she was devastated.

  3. cassandra007 says

Sally Hawkins? Almost everyone else is excluded since they won last night, didn’t attend, or have previously won. Plus Hawkins got a lot of acclaim for Happy Go Lucky (clue to “brave and happy face”). Side note: she seemed really on edge/maybe slightly loopy in a red carpet interview. In light of this, it could have just bee a wicked case of nerves.

    • stacat1 says

Dench wasn’t there. I am guessing Hawkins. Squibb strikes me as not giving a crap about all this nonsense. Hawkins seems more invested in the business.

  4. JoshuaTree says

Sally Hawkins? (Best Supporting Actress/Blue Jasmine)
Tons of critics said she was actually the best in the category, but she stood no chance against Jennifer and Lupita.

  5. kitteekat says

It looks like Jennifer Lawrence but I don’t see her doing this. I’m going to say Sally Hawkins

  6. tuckerlee123 says

It has to be either Sally Hawkins or Amy Adams. All of the other Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress nominees are former Oscar winners—Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence, and Lupita won. That leaves Sally or Amy …oh and June Squibb but I doubt it us her.

      • iyamrocky says

Sorry, glitched out there. Trying to respond to someone else and my screen scrolled… and meant to say “nominated”

  7. evilbubbles says

    Actress: Sally Hawkins
    Oscar Winner: Lupita Nyong’o

In the best supporting actress Jennifer Lawrence and Julia Roberts are past Oscar winners. June Squibb hasn’t won but I don’t picture her crying over losing.
For the best actresses, Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep, and Judi Dench each have at least one win. It could be Amy Adams but I doubt it because she’s been nominated 5 times and will definitely be nominated again.

  8. SouthJerseyGirl says

So who were the nominees for Best Actress who didn’t win?
    Sandra Bullock – nope – she’s a previous winner;
Amy Adams – nope, she’s been nominated before for Doubt and will be again.
Judi Dench – she wasn’t even there and she’s won a ton already.
Meryl Streep – LOL – been nominated 18 times.

It has to be one of the women from the Best Supporting Acress category…so who were they?
    Lupita (nope);
    Jennifer Lawrence (already an Oscar winner so nope);
    Julia Roberts (already a winner so nope);
    June Squibb – she’s 84 so it could be her, but I don’t think that she’d be crying about it in the ladies room;

    Which narrows it down to…
Actress: Sally Hawkins – this seems likely – she still isn’t a major star or even a very well known name.
    Oscar Winner: Cate Blanchett

    Easy Peasy.

    • Camila says

Amy Adams has also been nominated for Junebug, The Fighter and The Master and I guess will be for many more years. I agree with your guess. It’s definitely Sally Hawkins.

  9. NYCMEL says

Looking at the Best Actress and Best Supporting categories, the only person this could be is Sally Hawkins from Blue Jasmine. Lupita Nyong’o as the Oscar Winner and, though not referenced…the big hug could very have come from Cate Blanchett.

  10. Amanda says

It’s got to be Sally Hawkins or June Squibb. Look at the best actress nominees: Meryl Streep, Amy Adams (5 noms in the last 9 years), Judi Dench and Sandra Bullock. I think all of those people are doing ok. Julie Roberts and JLaw are both doing just fine, too.

  11. minx says

I’m going to go with Sally Hawkins for best supporting actress. The other losers were Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence, who have both won, and that older lady from Nebraska.

I almost thought of Amy Adams for best actress, but this isn’t her “one big” chance–she’s been nominated before and will undoubtedly be again. The others (Streep, Dench and Bullock) have all won.

  12. Fan says

I don’t think it was June Squibb, she seemed just happy to be there, but you never know. Either Amy Adams or Sally Hawkins is my guess. All of the others have won at least once.

    • McGosling says

Agree… but i think it was Hawkins most likely..
this blind makes me think, how about Leo? did he cry too?

  13. Gingi1976 says

    Actress: Sally Hawkins
    Oscar Winner: Lupita Nyong’o

Everyone in the Best Actress category has already won an Oscar (Bullock, Stree) or had multiple nominations (Adams; Dench). With Supporting Actress, two already have Oscars (Lawrence, Roberts). June Squibb is 84. This reaction sounds like that of a younger actress. Sally Hawkins is the last one standing.

  14. NOTellebee says

Awww poor love. I’d guess Sally Hawkins (lost to Lupita) or Amy Adams (lost to Cate). Most of the other actresses in both categories are seasoned (Julia, Sandra, Meryl) or too young (Lupita, JLaw) for that to be a thought.

Both are huge talents, so I can’t imagine that’s the last we’ll see of them in Oscarland.

  15. Rae says

Amy Adams, who lost to Cate Blanchette or Sally Hawkins, who lost to Lupita Nyong’o. Has to be one of these two.

  16. fran_88 says

Hum, I’m not sure.. Maybe June Squibb (Nebraska).
Clue: “She was upset because she was afraid that it was her “one big chance” and asked “What if I’m never nominated for anything ever again?”” because of her age?

    Actress: June Squibb
    Oscar Winner: Lupita Nyong’o

  17. Bromance1979 says

I would guess either Sally Hawkins or Amy Adams.

No one else in the Best Actress category would be crying, considering only Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep were the other actresses present. Neither one of them would say it was their “one big chance”.

In the Best Supporting Actress category, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lawrence wouldn’t be crying and I doubt June Squibb was that upset over losing.

  18. yoooooo says

maybe sally hawkins ?? oscar winner lupita nyong’o

its either sally or amy but amy has been nominated before so i can’t see her crying over it ?

  19. Markray19 says

Using the process of elimination, it could really only be Amy Adams or Sally Hawkins. Sounds like Amy Adams to me. Oscar winner was Cate Blanchett.

  20. mostlylurker says

i sort of feel uncomfortable this is a blind. This seems like a normal and personal reaction for someone thinking about their career, and getting normal and personal support from a peer. and who the heck spilled the story? that to me is the bigger item.

    • jersey6332 says

I agree. For once, this actress seems so normal. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading blinds where celebrities are being all diva like or dating someone for publicity or hiding their sexuality etc. But it’s nice to see such a normal reaction. I’m so sorry to whoever didn’t cry. There are tons of opportunities in Hollywood and the fact that this actress was nominated means that she’s very talented and i’m sure that directors will want her in their films

  21. jills23 says

Julia Roberts. Sounds like this was what the Cate Blanchett ‘#suckit Julia’ referred to

  22. AnguaDelphine says

I don’t even want to guess this one. Nothing to be gleeful about here. Hope the friend was right and she will be!

  23. jshjen137 says

    Amy Adams

    Winner: Cate Blanchett

Right after the win the camera’s panned to Amy and she had a smile on her face but looked like she was fighting off tears. I really like her and think she will be nominated again some day. I would be bummed too if I came that far and lost.

  24. Kelley says

Sandra Bullock losing to Cate Blanchett.

Oh, Sandra. What a sweet, talented, classy lady.

  25. wfreshie says

    or sally hawkins (blue jasmine)

she is young so will have more work down the road to be nominated for.

    oscar winner lupito nyon’go

  26. anonymouse says

    I’m guessing Sally Hawkins.

Looks like JLa but she’s already won, Amy Adams has received 3 nominations so it wouldn’t make sense that she would lose her “big chance” by any means, Judy/Meryl/Sandra/Julia already won.

June Squibb… probably was her big chance.

  27. anonymouse says

Wait… maybe it is Amy… clue being “Actress” with a capital A in the opening of the paragraph.

  28. fiona12 says

Sally Hawkins from Blue Jasmine. This is her first nomination and breakthrough role. She usually has small roles which would explain why she is afraid of not getting another nomination.

  29. TeacherKat says

Well, of all of the actresses nominated, I believe Amy Adams, Sally Hawkins, and June Squibb are the only ones to not have won. I don’t think Amy Adams has to worry that this was her big shot, so maybe Sally Hawkins (who I admit I was rooting for, as lovely and talented as Lupita is).

  30. redstilettos says

Ruling out JLaw, Meryl, J Roberts, and Sandra since they’ve already won an Oscar and Amy Adams since she always gets nominated. I dunno if Judi has an Oscar, but can’t see her doing this. Sally Hawkins or June Squibb? Karen O. for that song from “Her”?

  31. Visha says

At first I thought this would have been Sally Hawkins who seemed to be in tears whenever the camera was on but I am going to go with Amy Adams and the Oscar Winner being Cate Blanchett

  32. zeep says

It must be Amy Adams if you’re so sure she’ll be nominated again. My first thought was first-time nominee Sally Hawkins and her supportive costar Cate Blanchett. Sally seems really sweet and insecure. But how could you be so confident she’ll be nominated again? Must be someone prolific like Amy. No way JLaw or Meryl would cry over it.

  33. robin says

    Amy Adams
    Cate Blanchett the winner.
Just because she seems like she’ll get another shot one day

  34. victoria says

    Actress: June Squibb

    Oscar Winner: Lupita Nyong’o

June Squibb is 84 years old, it’s her first big film role, first big nomination. “One big chance” could be a reference to her film “The Big Year” that she was in with Rashida Jones, who was also at the Vanity Fair after party.

  35. carriebradshaw says

Must be Sally Hawkins? The other allready won an oscar or were nominated (Amy Adams).

  36. tania says

    Actress: Sally Hawkins, Blue Jasmin
Oscar Winner: Cate Blanchett (since they worked together and Cate won)

For Actresses in a Leading Role, they’ve all been nominated before so no “it’ll never happen again” since they know it’s possible.

For Supporting Actress, June Squibb and Sally are the only ones that it could be since Julia, Jennifer and Lupita have all now won.

  37. rosiedoes says

June Squibb, best supporting actress for Nebraska. She’s 84. How many more chances is she going to get?

    Winner was Lupita Nyong’o.

  38. OhTurquoise says

Thought this was Amy Adams but she’s already been nominated five times for Oscars so I don’t think she’d be worried about never being nominated again.

So I’ll go with Sally Hawkins for the actress – the Oscar went to Lupita, of course.

  39. MrWolf says

This almost has to be Sally Hawkins. Everyone else has multiple nominations and is a regular Oscar contender, except June Squib.
