The Forever Fake Couple Lie

fake couple 2SOLVED!

[Blind Gossip] Ah, faux couples. A male and female actor who star together in a television series or a film or film series, and then fake a relationship outside of the project for the publicity.

Their fans and “shippers” really want to believe that the relationships are real, give them cute nicknames (e.g.”Robsten”), write fan fiction about them, and dream about them getting married and living happily ever after.

Then we come in and tell you the truth.

This blind item is going to hurt more than most for many reasons: Because this television show is still on the air. Because the show’s fans are very passionate (and a little crazy). Because they want to believe that an on-screen relationship became on off-screen relationship. Because one half of the couple supported the other half when they were going through a personal crisis. And, finally, because half of the couple isn’t here anymore.

Yes, she is sad that he is gone. But not “girlfriend” sad. She is “friend” sad.

This couple was fake. The two actors were friends and liked each other, but the boyfriend/girlfriend relationship on air was purely imaginary and did not happen off air.

Actually, they didn’t even spend a lot of time together when they weren’t working or getting together for photo ops. Her friends are very different from his friends, and her off-screen life was very different from his off-screen life.

Vacation photo ops were staged. They each brought their own friends, stayed in separate rooms and simply got together for photos.

Remember that “romantic” ski trip they took together? They would take the ski lift up together, and do a photo op on the top of the mountain. He would later show off those photos on a talk show to “prove” that they were a couple.

The truth is that after the photos were taken, he would go snowboard and party with his friends and pick up random girls at night.

Yes, he was into girls, even if his fake girlfriend was not one of them. In fact, there were a lot of girls in the past few years, although no one special. He never was much for relationships. He preferred to hang with his friends, pick up a girl for a night or two of fun, and keep things very casual.

Sometimes you would see his fake girlfriend driving “his” car. Well, he did own a car, but she wasn’t allowed to drive it. The car that she drove wasn’t his car. It was a car that the network leased so it would look like she drove his car.

And despite what she says, they were never going to move in together. They were going to fake it. She had her house, and the network leased a nearby apartment for him. They were just going to stage regular photo ops to look like they lived in the same house until they broke up. That’s it.

Yes, there was going to be a “breakup”. It was going to happen after the show was off the air. The two of them were prepared to go the distance with the fake relationship for as long as the show was in production.

Now that he is gone, she can’t admit that they weren’t boyfriend and girlfriend, or that everything was staged, or that they were never going to move in together or get married. It would make her look really fake and really bad. No, she is now stuck with that lie forever.

One last point. It’s about that very public tribute that you’ll see soon. There are many actors with a broader and more critically acclaimed body of work who deserve a public tribute much, much more. However, those actors don’t have the large and young fan base for which the networks live and die. And they don’t have a fake and famous girlfriend in the audience to tearfully clutch a necklace and pretend that she just lost the great love of her life.

TV Show:

cory monteith lea michele 4SOLVED!

It’s Lea Michele and Cory Monteith of Glee! Source:

Remember Robsten? That fake off-screen coupling of Robert Patinson and Kristen Stewart? One of the reasons that Twilight was so popular is that fans really believed that the on-screen relationship of Bella and Edward was mirrored in the off-screen relationship of Robert Patinson and Kristen Stewart.

Well, Monchele (Cory MONteith and Lea MiCHELE) was designed to replicate the same fervor of Robsten.

Except that it didn’t. Film series are not TV series, movie stars are not TV stars, and vampires are not singing high school students. Finn and Rachael just didn’t have the same romantic pull of Bella and Edward.

But lots of Glee fans believed in Monchele anyway. They excitedly reported each photo of the couple shopping for groceries in Beverly Hills or kissing at a hockey game in Madison Square Garden or snowboarding in Canada. They spun their fantasies about Monchele on Twitter and Facebook and Tumblr, and speculated about what their wedding would be like, which Glee cast members would be bridesmaids, and what their children would look like.

The rest of the Glee cast played along, too. Why? Because they were contractually obligated to do so. Some – but not all – of the crew were in on it as well.

Some cast members, like Jane Lynch, played along enthusiastically, talking about Cory and Lea being a couple off screen. Others, like Chris Colfer and Dianna Agron, would just smile and say as little as possible when the topic came up.

But the fact is that Monchele was a lie.

We consistently told you that the Robsten relationship was created in a publicist’s office. Robsten fans screamed and wailed and called us liars. We told you when they were scheduled to break up, and, indeed, they broke up right on schedule.

Well, Monchele was also created in a publicist’s office. Lea Michele and Cory Monteith were friends, but that’s all. They had a performance contract for their fake off-screen relationship. All of those photo ops of dates and intimate moments were staged.

OK, Cory, you’re going to be on Ellen in December. We want you to talk about Glee as a family and your relationship with Monchele. You need to have a cute story to tell. We’re going to send you both – along with your friends  – on a ski vacation to Whistler for Thanksgiving. Go with Lea to buy a snowboard, and make sure to get some casual photos on the top of the mountain. When you go on Ellen, the questions about Monchele will be included in the sit-down interview segment. Tell a story about how you and Lea went on a romantic vacation alone together over Thanksgiving together and how Lea learned to snowboard and show the photos.

Yes, it was all staged. It was all a publicity stunt.

They never took romantic vacations with each other (each brought their own group of friends and family along to hang out with). They were never in love (although they cared about each other as friends and colleagues). They were never going to live together (although the company rented Cory an apartment near Lea’s home to make it more convenient for photo ops). They were never going to get married.

Their fake relationship was going to end after the series ended, just as Robsten’s did. However, because of Cory’s sudden passing, Monchele will never have that sort of neat wrap up now. Lea Michele and the rest of the Glee cast are now stuck with that fake relationship, in lie limbo, forever.

Remember that time when Lea promised fans on twitter a Monchele riot for a red carpet appearance and one day later Cory Monteith was rushed to Rehab? When he was out of rehab, one week later, papz took picture of them together, one week after that he was ready to hit the red carpet, Lea declaring he was happy and healthy, one week after that Cory was found dead alone in hotel room in Canada, and Lea was in Los Angeles. Too bad Lea was so busy promoting her fake relationship that she didn’t notice Cory needed help

      • Naija_girl says

Watching that Ellen clip again is just so uncomfortable. It just seems so awkward and forced. Poor Corey :(

    • stanton says

I knew that relationships was a lie becuase had Lea been involved with Cory she would of been in Vancouver!

Robert Pattison sorry comes across gayer then Chris Colfer

  1. Jester says

    Actor: Corey Montieth

    Actress: lea Michelle

    TV Show: Glee

The upcoming public tribute will take place at the Emmy’s. Before he passed on, I never even heard of Corey. Granted, I don’t watch ‘Glee’, but there are many other actors on shows that I don’t watch that I have heard of and even knew something about them. I heard about the tribute on some show and I must admit that I was disgusted. Larry Hagman and Jack Klugman who also died get nothing? If it’s based on age as far as how you are honored, something is really screwed up! Who is even going to remember Corey in a few years besides people that watch ‘Glee’???

      • Ati2d9 says

Ditto! And she is making me sick the way she is sucking the life out of this for publicity! Enough already! Addiction is sad, yes, and death is sad, yes, but lets not glorify Cory. I never heard of him either, yet have heard of a few others from the show. The whole thing just makes me sick and it is sending the wrong message to the younger fan base!

    • kellyinchains says

This^, and I agree 100 percent with everything you said. It’s a sad state of affairs when Larry Hagman doesn’t get the tribute that he has EARNED. He was beloved (and extremely well-known) by many more people than CM, and for DECADES! So wrong, and so sad. :(

      • Friday Wonder says

I loved Larry Hagman, but hated Dallas, yet, I believe he needs to get an Emmy tribute, as well as Jack Klugman, both men have been doing television for a long long time, while Cory was in the business only more than a decade and Glee was only his first real television gig I can remember, plus he’s too young to have an Emmy tribute (however, if he was , say, 51 or 61, and had a bit more of a body of work on his television resume that was more strongly memorable than Glee, then, yeah, he should have a tribute, other than that, leave it to the true veterans like Klugman and Hagman).

    • somethingoriginal says

This ratings-grab of a tribute won’t diminish the respect and admiration the entertainment world has for James Gandolfini, Larry Hagman and Jack Klugman. We shouldn’t worry about the hacks giving them the attention they deserve if the right people have celebrated them in the right (and dignified) way. Let them have their tacky tribute.

In case you haven’t been told enough lately Ace – you’re awesome. Have a great weekend.

      • kspeedian says

James Gandolfini got a personal tribute also. Ridiculous that neither Klugman or Hagman did though. But anyway, did anyone else but me find it in poor taste to pick out 3-5 people out of the, like, 30 that died in the business (who were shown in the slide show)? Like: “Here’s all the people who died! Now… here are the ones who people care that they died!” I really found it creepy and cringeworthy. ESPECIALLY because there was probably at least one person who knew every SINGLE person on that list… Afterall, small town, same business. IDK… I thought it was a really bizarre choice.

    • La Llorona says

I don’t get it, though. Why is Glee full of so many actors in fake relationships? (Darren Criss included, check the last blind to see what I mean…) Like, wasn’t the whole premise of the show to be more open minded to relationships and the many forms love can take and what have you? What happened to that message? I would figure on a show with openly gay actors, you’d have more leeway for them to date a little more freely as well.

If Corey Monteith didn’t want to be monogamous, who cares? I never really watched that many episodes (Come to think of it, I might have only watched one and a couple youtube clips when it was going downhill…), but was he even a major character? If not, that’s a lot of effort to go through for some Twilight bullshit.

    • jpan007 says

Remember that time when Lea tweeted suggested she was camping with Cory and took a picture of her tent and tweeted it? Turned out that picture was property of a camping company. She never took the picture and wasn’t even camping.

    • samsayssix says

Forgot to add that the show is clearly Glee. And that since the cars thing was brought up, paps took bird eye pictures of her house and you could see her usv parks in her drive way and his parked outside her gate. They didn’t try too hard to make it look like it was the same care. But then again, their shippers are pretty dumb so I guess it worked well enough

  2. glee insider says

My bf is on the glee crew n all of them knew all about this! The whole cast knew too. I dont feel bad for Lea cuz she got plenty of pubicity from this n loves that the focus is now on her. I feel more bad for Ace bcuz all those shippers are going to attack him on tumblr an twitter! I say back the fck off kids bcuz Ace is just telling the truth n sometimes the truth hurts.

    • demoiselle says

Question, Glee insider: I’ve thought Monchele was PR for a long, long time. You say everyone on set knew. So why are so many cast members (with a couple glaring exceptions, like Chris Colfer) pushing the relationship in the press so much? Is there some kind of incentive from Fox to do so?

      • melly123 says

That’s what I was wondering. A couple of them joined her on stage at the TCA’s, and even addressed her specifically in their press release addressing his death.

      • Fergus says

demoiselle: Wavering from the Corporate PR line can be a very rapid and direct path to unemployment and a black ban. You are talking mucho dinero to have a chick load up on Visine and show some side boob to the camera in her overwhelming grief.

      • samsayssix says

Most of the cast didn’t want anything to do with the charade. Have you ever seen Cory and Lea with anyone from the show? Never. But when an “on set” couple gets created everyone has to try and sell the fairy tale romance. It’s usually friends and not-so-close relatives that aren’t in the know, the people close to them surely knew.

      • redstilettos says

I wonder if there are stipulations in TV show/movie contracts regarding fauxmances since they are all the rage stating that other co-stars can’t leak the truth? Rachelle LeFevre basically said Robsten was BS and then she gets replaced in Eclipse which made no sense because the fans loved her & the other costars were always hesitant to even talk about R and K.

      • Ati2d9 says

Everyone in Hollywod is selling you a personality…it doesn’t mean it is their OWN personality. 😉

  3. Revisionist says

This has to be a very bad fake relationship, because truth be told, I didn’t even know they were supposed to be a couple until he died. But then I guess this is another piece of marketing geared to 12 year old girls and adults never paid any attention to the Tumblr posts from the stalking tweeners

  4. stolidog says

I guess the big question is why are the youth of America so 1) gullable and 2) desparate? Why can’t they just enjoy the movie or the show? Why do they have to create all this imaginary drama outside of what they are seeing? And, how very cynical does Hollywood have to get that they cajole, force or pay their actors to pretend to live out these fantasies that the audiences create?

Maybe I’m old. Maybe I’m jaded. But, I really just want to watch the show. Actors (and performers) do enough crazy stuff on their own without having to fake it.

and, finally, Leah Michelle, Cory Monteith, and that show that is just about to be canceled.

    • Beryllos says

This hasn’t changed since the silent films became talkies. Hollywood studios have been creating fake relationships along with their films since forever. And the stars or would-be stars jump at the opportunity, or are willing to go along with it, because they want to be famous and they want to keep working in the industry. Hollywood cynical? Maybe. Mainly, they’re marketing geniuses.

    • CanaryCry says

Because romance & hope aren’t supposed to be dead, even in these hard times. People are now moaning about Miley & Liam’s split as if it were “Jen” & Brad all over again. In the real world, young people would rather sow their wild oats than embark on a multidecade marriage. Even so many of the churchy kids step over that line, apparently.

And it’s not just teenagers … their parents & grandparents might still be moaning about Charles & Diana/Madonna & Sean/Elvis & Priscilla/Liz T. & Mr. Burton. It’s all about “what might’ve been”, especially having more babies & holding hands in the sunset of their years.

Family values for other people’s entertainment right there …

    • YoGo8c says

Stolidog, because Hollywood, entertainment, music…is a revolving door of career prospects and jobs/employment for so much more than the two individuals involved.

Think how many people a ‘PR hookup’ serves: magazines/news wires/media for enless supplies of stories on a ‘cute couple’ and all the people paid to write it, check it, edit it; publicity departments/management teams; handlers, planners, reps and lackeys; paparazzi and photogs. Then we have the corporate favours; sponsorships, TV, deals/promo/endorsements off the back of a good story of a ‘good couple’.

It is always bigger than just a young couple in love. :)

    • La Llorona says

      Blanket Statements 4 da win.

The better question is, what makes you think they even care? That is…if they do. If they weren’t fans already, Corey Monteith and Lea Michelle dating won’t make a difference…

  5. cupcakes says

    Lea Michele and Cory Monteith
FFS, Ace, let it rest. Monchele was fake, we get it. But Cory meant a lot to his fans and the Glee fandom in general so stop putting this shade over his death

    • skagen says

Since when is the truth disrespectful?

Preferring cynical PR propaganda to the *actual* life of the person who passed seems vastly more offensive to me.

    • La Llorona says

I get what you’re saying but I don’t think this discredits his death or shades his fanbase even. At the end of the day, you’re all fans of Corey whether he was dating Lea or not, but his death is still a tragedy. People keep mentioning Jack Klugman, but it’s like, that dude was 90 and lived a healthy life. Corey was only 31, but he still had a chance at a life ahead of him had he not chosen the path he did. There’s a lot to learn from what happened to Corey. TBH, he should be made an example of, for a good cause.

  6. lovefifteen says

Lea didn’t do anything wrong. It’s not her fault Cory died. She’s doing the right thing by keeping the PR relationship a secret. Revealing it now would just be tacky, right?

    • CanaryCry says

Supposedly, Lea was so cold to Cory when he really needed her. Compared to her, Courtney Love was a devoted, caring spouse.

  7. melly123 says

Cory Monteith, Lea Michele, Glee. This makes me really sad. I was never a fan of hers, but I really felt for her after he died. It’s awful.

  8. TVespy says

I almost feel as bad for her as I would if they were a real couple. She is left with such a difficult situation and she is still required to promote Glee. She really can’t win either way, which sucks because I’m really excited for Her Solo Projects the book and album and now there will always be a shadow at least for the foreseeable future. Damn if she does by the shipper damned if she doesn’t my Blind Items.

    • YoGo8c says

Of course you’d have to feel sorry for someone living a lie, if indeed she is.

I don’t know for sure and wouldn’t like to say or guess on this one (sniping at the industry ‘closet’ is my preference), but BG thinks this is fake and if that’s true, what choice would she have but to just carry on with the lie…? How do you backpeddle out of it? You can’t.

      • La Llorona says

Right, it’s so easy to blame her because A) She’s alive and B) let’s be honest, she’s a chick and everyone can look at her and say that she didn’t do a good enough job to pull Corey away from that life if she were even a friend or a girlfriend. But if he was seriously on drugs, he was going to go down that path whether she intervened or not. Her trying to stop him would only push him further along.

      • YoGo8c says

La Llorona, I don’t believe I ever ‘blamed’ her or made any ref to her being a ‘chick’ and heaping a gender bias on her. You seem to be implying things I haven’t said although I can’t tell if the tone of your post is neutral or sarcastic.

You should note my words ‘IF she is (involved)’ and ‘I don’t know for sure’. Also that I have sympathy for any young person caught up in such a thing. It just wouldn’t surprise me that’s all. I would have a view on him too only he’s not around for it to be relevant much and we’ve beaten that issue to death anyway.

I’m just trying to be objective, I have not once sniped at the woman herself and there are posts here about ‘her’ that are almost vitriolic. My views are tame in comparison to some. :)

      • La Llorona says

Uhh…kay, you need to chill. I was agreeing with you 100% and adding my own two cents into it. Trust me honey, I don’t have problems understanding what you were saying at all. However, if you have trouble picking up on or reading tone, you probably shouldn’t be commenting on a public forum.

  9. rorythedragon says

Since hundreds of others will answer this correctly I will not gleefully add more as it may lea d to the retelling of the gory story that many others have already correctly identified. I will, however, watch The Emmys fervently!

  10. hughie says

    Corey, Lea, Glee.

I generally like this website, but I’m a bit sickened by the continued exploitation of this situation. This is just one of many blind items that are essentially saying the same thing: yes, they were not truly together, but they were friends. What’s the point of this? Let Corey and his memory rest in peace. It’s the decent thing to do.

    • bloodking says

“exploitation of this situation” tell that to Glee. There will be a “tribute” episode. Cast members are going on talk show saying how emotional the episode is, how devastating Lea is.

I don’t see this item as an exploitation. I see this as a revelation of the truth. Glee think they can just use his death to boost their rating, romanticize his death, make it all about his fake girlfriend. And that’s what wrong.

      • mesden says

You’re aware that it’s gonna be a tribute episode about one of the main characters of the show, right ?

      • samsayssix says

Fox has every cast member talking about how wonderful he is and how they are a family helping each other pull through (lies!). Lea Michele is thanking people for their support and wearing a necklace made by a boutique she often promotes on twitter. Who is exploiting what?

      • jess89 says

Yes, and he is in fact DEAD. So now the show isn’t allowed to acknowledge it and no one is allowed to be sad or try to honor his memory because BG is convinced Lea wasn’t really his girlfriend?

    • HermioneG says

Isn’t it the very purpose of gossip? Jumping on the opportunity to talk about stuff going on, expose secrets and lies?

I for one am grateful that someone tells things like they are. Whether I like it or not. At least I can form my own opinion about things/people based on what the truth is BTS and not what the PR wizards are trying to make me believe.

What brought me to this was:
Cory went on Ellen in December 2012 and he confirmed it on her show that they were in fact dating. ( I did my research before hand, looking for pictures. There are pictures of them buying snowboards and at the shop, ect. Then I searched about them moving in together and there were tons of sites saying they were planning on moving in together, ect, ect. Then there was this, “And, finally, because half of the couple isn’t here anymore.” “Yes, she is sad that he is gone. But not “girlfriend” sad. She is “friend” sad.” (From the Blind) 1. He passed away and that was the only celebrity off-and-on screen couple I knew of which still had a show on air. Glee doesn’t seem to be going anywhere to me, really. She didn’t seem girlfriend sad because if she did, she wouldn’t have gone to the TCA’s yet she did. I’m sure she would have stayed hidden much, much longer and wouldn’t be up on her feet until she knew she could go on without him. The necklace with his name on it or whatever, she always held onto it, touched her neck, ect. I feel like the tribute will be the Glee episode, actually. That she was going to be singing a song of theirs or whatever, I’m not on top of things when it comes to Glee, so. But, there you have it. Monchele was actually yet another fake Hollywood couple.

  13. sdenzel says

This is just to obvious about Lea and Cory. Just crazy when you think about it, that they would go to so much trouble for a fake relationship. But I don’t think it would make her look really bad, just a bit lol. Because apparently it is a part of the entertainment world? I don’t think Lea and Cory came with the idea? I think people they work for?

And I love the thing when you said “Remember that ‘romantic’ ski trip they took together?” hmmm were have I seen that before? Let me think. Oh yeah that’s right Elounor!

It’s a shame because Lea will hopefully have a long carrer and she’s going to lie about it forever. Thank you so much, Ace for the BI about Lea/Cory and Glee. That cast probably have so much dirty hidden and yet we heard almost anything!

  18. tink says

So easy. Lea Michelle and Cory Monteith. You could smell the fake relationship a mile away. She should just admit it, so that more people in her position don’t fall for the network’s stupid and dishonest tradition of fake relationships. Out them, Leah!

  19. demoiselle says

Obviously Lea Michele and Cory Monteith from Glee. Why didn’t this come out while he was still alive? They were clearly fake.

  23. Nomad says

The last paragraph clinched it. Cory Montieth and Lea Michele. This fake relationship thing is really distasteful and now Lea is being criticized for not properly mourning a relationship that never was!

  24. BlackShip says

Lea and Cory (Glee) and you know what’s even funnier? you are all looking into her life right now but you didn’t even bother to do it when she was in a ‘relationship’ with a lady friend (yes, the lady part is a hint, don’t ask me, ask Perez Hilton)in the same show Monteith and Michele were working. You should dig into that, I’m sure you’ll get a lot of things. The hypocrisy of this world!!!!!

  25. theblindone says

    Actor: Cory Monteith

That Emmy tribute is truly despicable. There was an article in the Deadline that they were being pressured to make one for him. Impressive body of work doesn’t matter any more, network pressure, rabid fans and a famous SO in mourning do.

  26. bloodking says

    Monchele forever. LOL.
The fake car is a Range Rover I think. Lea is a infamous bad driver. That’s probably why he didn’t allow her to use his car.

  27. minx says

This is not something new, We need to remember that Lea have some rumors with miss Dianna Agron… and the comes the E! poll and everyone knows what Achele means. So, the next day Lea was with Cory. Yeah…. Sure. Is pretty easy, Cory have fame, and Lea have a BOYfriend. And can we see All Dianna’s boyfriends? Yeah, pretty gay. I think Lea just need came out of the closet!

I agree, although I think they’re probably both bi. I always found it odd that they all of a sudden weren’t living together anymore, or not seen out together (publicly) at least. Best friends don’t just immediately cut each other off like that. It was very obvious that they were something more. Also, “Others, like Chris Colfer and Dianna Agron, would just smile and say as little as possible when the topic came up.” I mean, come on. How awkward would that be.

There is literally nothing to support this. And glee is sloppy. I find it hard to believe they could successfully pull something like this off. Maybe they were pr, maybe not, but pointing out public events and appearances that we are all very aware of and saying that’s fake that’s fake that’s fake…doesn’t make it so. I could set up my own site and do the same with dozens of other couples that annoy me also. But because of the sensitivity of the mater, that is sure to draw in a countless number of those “crazy fans”, all of this just seems extremely self serving and exploitative, on your part.

I think it is fair that Ace posts this story. I don’t like being lied to, as the company is doing it for the money, and they are trying to exploit the viewers for financial reasons. Based on the fact that Cory is dead, they are also exploiting him in his death. That is a pretty filthy thing to do, and they deserve to be called on it. Maybe next time they will think twice before lying to the public. Doubtful, but maybe.

    Lea Michele et Cory monteith

Hollywood is just a publicity world, fans must understand that all they want to sell us is not real, that the major role is to sell , if the drama part was not there with Cory, they will have earn many of that , and could have turn the page after, is there some other stories in glee uneivers hiding, certainly, network have good power.
