[Blind Gossip] Although you see her with their kids constantly, you don’t see him with the kids more than once a month… and he rarely looks happy about it. Lately though, he’s everywhere with them, and each moment has been captured on film. Why the sudden change?
It’s all because of his famous ex. Given that he and his ex haven’t worked together in years, and given that he’s married, you would think that he’d be smart enough to stop talking about the ex. Nope. He’s been flapping his gums lately about how he’s been keeping in touch with her, and that has really ticked off his wife!
So, even though he has a project to promote, he is now spending much of his time doing penance in the form of family outings: to the park, to the store, to the restaurant, to kiddy-friendly activities. Plus a romantic vacation with his wife.
For each of these outings, the paparazzi are notified in advance, and each outing is captured on film with him posing as the dutiful father and husband. Well, except for the fact that he still looks absolutely miserable. We’d be willing to bet that, as a result of all this fun and togetherness, instances of him talking about his ex will be dramatically decreased in the future.
It’s Ben Affleck! Source: BlindGossip.com
Husband: Ben Affleck
Wife: Jennifer Garner
Husband’s Ex: Jennifer Lopez
Ben Affleck has been married to Jennfer Garner for seven years now. We don’t know if the fabled seven-year-itch syndrome hit him this year, but he did two dumb things in two months. In September 2012, he stated in interviews that he “is not very present” with his family, and that even when he is with them, he is thinking about work.
Then, in October, 2012, he did an even dumber thing by spouting off about Jennifer Lopez. To refresh your memory, here is an article from the LA Times:
Ben Affleck keeps in touch with Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow
Not every Hollywood romance has to end in disaster or tragedy. Take it from Ben Affleck: The “Argo” director is still on civil terms with exes such as Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow and even his high school sweetheart.
Making the rounds to promote his well-received hostage flick, Affleck opened up about contact with his exes despite marrying actress Jennifer Garner in 2005.
“We don’t have the kind of relationship where she relies on me for advice,” Affleck told the Hollywood Reporter about Lopez, “but we do have the kind of relationship where there’ll be an email saying, ‘Oh, your movie looks great.'”
Affleck and Lopez weathered a staggering amount of media attention during their courtship, both later admitting it was the cause of their breakup in 2004. Still he didn’t shy from congratulating J. Lo on a multimillion-dollar stint on “American Idol.”
“I remember when she got ‘American Idol.’ I said: ‘This was really smart. Good luck.’ I touch base. I respect her. I like her. She’s put up with some stuff that was unfair in her life, and I’m really pleased to see her successful,” Affleck said.
The Reporter confirms he’s also in touch with Paltrow, whom he dated from 1997 to 2000, and a high school girlfriend named Cheyenne Rothman. We get it Ben, you’re cool on both sides of the relationship.
This was during the Argo premier. Dude, do you really want to use your airtime at a premier for your big important movie to talk about JLo and Gwynnie? Dumb. Even dumber than Gigli.
Well, Jennifer Garner – perfect wife and mother – wasn’t having any of that nonsense! Girl clamped down hard on him, and his penance was public family outings. Lots of them. We’ve seen Ben Affleck go on more family outings in 2012 than we have in the previous seven years combined!
Yes, Ben Affleck just loves spending his weekends with his family at the farmer’s market and decorating cakes and going to Color Me Mine! Please.
There are actually two reasons that Ben is following the script right now.
First, to appease Jennifer Garner (who, BTW, was just named “Mother of the Year” by Today’s Parent Magazine).
Second, because Argo has a real shot at an Oscar nomination. The faster and more thoroughly Ben can clean up his act and impress Academy voters as being a mature and dutiful husband/father/director worthy of their attention and admiration, the better chance he stands to have Argo nominated as “Best Picture”… and himself nominated as Best Director.
To that end, Ben Affleck is now gushing about his marriage to Jennifer Garner. From Irish Central:
Ben Affleck’s wife Jennifer Garner has been named Celebrity Mum of the Year
The 40-year-old ‘Butter’ actress – who is married to Ben Affleck, 40, with whom she shares three children, Violet, seven, Seraphina, three, and Samuel, 10 months – beat off stiff competition from Beyonce, Reese Witherspoon and Jessica Simpson to be awarded the title by Today’s Parent magazine.
According to the magazine, Jennifer won “by a landslide” as she manages to be relatable to other mothers by admitting she sometimes struggles to juggle her family and career but still looks “gorgeous and put-together.”
Jennifer’s husband Ben recently revealed he still can’t believe she married him and said the secret to a successful marriage is choosing someone who is out of your league.
He said: “There are two things for a marriage to be good. One is to work hard on it. The other one is to marry above you. And I succeeded at both of those.”
The ‘Argo’ actor-and-director admitted his wife was “cool” with his hectic schedule and says he appreciates how she stays up late waiting for him to come to bed so they can brainstorm ideas about whatever new film he’s working on.
He explained: “My wife is very cool. She knows that directing is consuming in that way. She’s just happy I come home. Usually, I come home after the kids are in bed anyway. We like to chat for a little bit and I’ll talk about the movie and what I’m doing, what I’m thinking or whatever. She’s a good sounding board.”
He’s going for that Oscar!
Congratulations to Bromance1979, who was first with the correct answer!
