Ok, he’s converting to Judaism, which requires alot of study and it sounds like he’s currently uncircumcised but will be soon as part of his conversion. Many people change faiths, although doing so to make a future spouse happy may not be the right reason. I hope it is a genuine conversion that has grown out of his admiration of her commitment to her faith and that it fulfills him spiritually. I think if he’s doing for the wrong reasons that will be sussed out during the conversion process. If she’s demanding he convert just to continue the relationship that will come out and hopefully she’ll learn that one can’t make demands like that, and it wouldn’t be a genuine conversion anyway. But, if he’s prepared to be circumcised, he is probably the real deal. Good for him.

I have no idea, but the bride must be Jewish. The convert will have to go through a ritual circumcision, even if he is already circumcised. I had a colleague that had to have that done, it was a symbolic ‘cutting’ of his manhood. If one were not already, then that would be a bit of an ordeal beyond the standard briss.

As a Jew, let me set a few things straight that people believe as fact but aren’t:
1. a man does not need to have circumcision as part of his conversion; a ritualized circumcision is by choice
2. if the mother is Jewish, the child is also (the father need not be)
3. there are many different types of Jew (Orthodox, Conservative, Reform to name a few) like there are Christian (Catholic, Methodist, etc) and the beliefs of each branch of Judaism differs like those of Christianity.
