[NationalEnquirer] This A-list celebrity – who’s been on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” many, many times – refused to show up for the queen of talk’s send-off spectacle. The award-winning entertainer was asked to sing something for the special event, but Miss Diva didn’t want to share the stage with so many other “lesser” stars.

Oprah’s has a page on her website that lists the celebrities with the most appearance on her show. The following female singers appear on that list:
Celine Dion
Mariah Carey
Patti LaBelle
Tina Turner
Patti LaBelle performed, Mariah was about to give birth so she had a good excuse for not being there. So I think either Celine Dion or Tina Turner.

But I don’t get the feeling that Celine is this stuck up. She comes from really humble origins. And I remember she immediately gave $1 million to the Red Cross when Hurricane Katrina hit and was weeping to CNN (or someone) that she wished she could get out there in a kayak and rescue stranded ppl herself.
Did you see her wedding/renewal of vows? Where she and her consort wore crowns and golden robes? This is SO Queen Celine.
Wasn’t Jennifer Hudson the one who left Oprah in the lurch on her finale? So that’s my guess.
There was even an article about it on the internet recently, and I just saw Oprah give a little dig about Jennifer not showing up on her new show on OWN.

Oprah has a list of the top 15 frequent guest. Jennifer Hudson is not on there. The only ones that would fit is Tina Turner, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion.

That’s a bit like the whale and the minnow in the talent dept. Patti must have wiped up the stage with him like her duet with Mariah way back when Mariah could still sing.
Anyway, I remember Diana Ross way back when not liking that Whitney got more applause at an event than she did. Considering the A list starts in attendance like Madonna and Beyonce, I am assuming it was Tina who was afraid of getting less applause than younger singers.
Miss Diva=Miss Ross. That’s what people have to call Diana Ross backstage.

Celine is a total cheese and fairly , I really doubt she would say anything like that. It’s more likely Barbra Streisand or Tina Turner. I would be really surprised if it was Jennifer Hudson. However… this is a National Enquirer blind, so take it with a grain of salt.

I don’t think Jennifer Hudson would be delusional enough to think she was too goo to share the stage with all those people who are far more famous than her. She is an american idol reject who got lucky getting cast in a great film.
Doesn’t Tina Turner live in France or Switzerland? Kinda understandable she wasn’t there. Plus Tina is known for being down to earth for normal diva-standards.
Therefore, I’m going with Diana Ross.
NOT Celine. She’s been on that show 27 times, and all of a sudden! – she’s decided “I’m just too darned good to be on the finale of the show?” – Doesn’t compute, at all… Miss Diana Ross, absolutely!!!
It isn’t Celine. her show is on in Vegas right now and has been for few months, with several shows a week. and that was the reason she appeared on the Oprah show back in February. so that that appearance would be her last.
I love Tina but I think this sounds like her.
Diana Ross has only been on Oprah 4 times. 4 times in 25 years does not sound like a lot.

Though the image looks like Diana Ross, I doubt she would have dissed Oprah’s farewell considering the pair hold each in such high regard (recall Diana’s appearance on Season 25). If Diana couldn’t make it, it was because she’s on tour in the U.S. The press just love to vilify Diana. Diana has appeared alongside other entertainers on many an occasion (Motown Returns To The Apollo, Martin Luther King Day Special, VH1 Divas With Heart with Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle and Chaka Khan at Radio City Music Hall), but the one diva that refuses to do likewise is Miss Barbra Streisand.
Flashback to Bill Clinton’s inauguration. All the major celebs like Diana, Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin partook in a mega-concert, but Babs refused to join the cast. Instead, she requested and received a solo spot — separate from the others — where she addressed Clinton and Al Gore directly with a speech before breaking into Evergreen. Babs also has a string of requests like having Oprah’s staff spray paint her mic silver so as to match her outfit; she also only permitted one photo of her to be published in O Magazine from Oprah’s Legends Ball, (no video footage of her as a guest was allowed). Dionne Warwick in her autobio, did not have kind words to say about Miss Streisand, but always said Diana has been gracious in their encounters. Babs was rumored to have turned down the Academy to perform Over The Rainbow at the Oscars, so Diana filled in. Barbra also kept the Academy in suspension by not committing to singing her Oscar-nominated song, I Finally Found Someone, so with the clock ticking and no commitment from Ms. Streisand, the fed-up Academy asked Celine Dion to step in last minute.
As great a vocalist as she is, Aretha is far more of a horrendous prima donna than Diana is, but somehow she (and Babs) always escape the chopping block. Aretha’s diva antics are accented with a Detroit alley-cat gruffness, confessed Martha Reeves in her autobio. Luther Vandross, Gladys and Patti have attested to this as well. Anyone remember how Aretha flipped out when Beyonce performed at the Grammy’s and referred to Tina Turner as “The Queen?” Miss Franklin actually released a press statement suggesting she solely owned the rights to the title of “Queen” and expressed how peeved she was at The Academy for that segment.
My conclusion:
1. The Enquirer is twisting the facts if Diana couldn’t make it to sell its rag.
2. If a star did snub O’s finale, it would have been Barbra.
Other possibilities:
3. Jennifer Hudson (She’s developed quite an attitude and stood up the Oprah Show as revealed on an episode of Oprah Behind The Scenes).
4. Tina Turner (She and Oprah are buddies, but it would take a lot for her to to participate as she’s happily retired in Europe).
5. Whitney Houston (She may not have checked into rehab yet, or was about to, so she may have declined. Hey, this diva abstained from the Oprah The Legends Ball and also kept Nelson Mandela waiting at The White House, remember?).
The National Enquirer is reporting that Tina Turner has become so overwhelmed with the tragic loss of her sister and her former stepson Ike Jr.’s grave illness that she’s started to drink heavily enough for friends to be concerned that she needs rehab!
Her biographer, Mark Bego, reveals:
“Losing Alline and seeing Ike Jr. so sick has hit her like a one-two punch. Tina has been in misery ever since her sister’s death. And now Ike Jr. has taken a turn for the worse. Her friends fear she is drinking heavily in private to get over the pain. Those closest to her are beginning to believe that going into rehab may be her only salvation.”
i HATE Celine Dion with a PASSION, BUT, i do not think this is her. I don’t think Celine would miss an opportunity to have her jack-o-lantern head up in our grill one more time.
