Fave Character Going Six Feet Under

TVLineI’ve seen the future, and there are a lot of very unhappy people.

Multiple sources are confirming that a wildly popular character on an hour drama that has long been an Aushole staple is about to take his/her last breath.

I’m told the producers of this unnamed broadcast series are planning to kill off the fan favorite either in the season finale or soon after the show returns next season.

It’s not clear if the decision was made for creative or budgetary reasons — it was likely a combination of both — but it’s my understanding that it was not arrived at lightly. Far from it, in fact.

There’s also a chance the execs at the program in question will have a last-minute change of heart, but, according my spies, it’s an extremely slim one.

Which show is putting a hit out on one of its MVPs — and whose name is on the toe tag?

BG Note: An “Aushole” is a fan of TVLine Editor Michael Ausiello.

Hm…until it said drama, I thought maybe they were killing Blaine off Glee. That would have been nice. What a solo-hog!

The “change of heart” and “extremely slim” make me think it’s someone in a medical drama. They couldn’t kill House off House, could they?

  • iheartthis

I don’t watch the show but maybe someone from Dexter?

  • JamesAA

    Robert Sean Leonard (House)

    • Lassie

RSL wants out of House to go back on the stage, but I myself would die if they killed him off! Come on, RSL, it’s only one more season! You can make token appearances on the show, film all of them in a week.

I thought that, too. I’ve loved him since Dead Poet’s Society.

But I do have an annoying habit of guessing House for every single blind about hour long TV dramas.

    • NOOOOOoooooo! Anyone who tries to hurt our Wilson is going to have to go through us first! Love, BG

        This.

Though, I kinda wouldn’t mind him leaving what used to me my favorite show and now is torture to watch. Last night, I kinda wanted Wilson to storm off and find Cameron to commiserate.

I would cry my eyeballs out if they killed Wilson . I have been a die-hard house fan since day one.

I don’t think it’s Wilson. I’m thinking either Cuddy or Thirteen. It’ll probably be Thirteen though, since her movie career is taking off. Kinda wish it was Cuddy – she’s boring.

Interesting choice. I also think it’s someone from House. While the “Six Feet Under” note in the headline could be a red herring, pointing to an alum from that show, the photo reminds me of a morgue/hospital, leading me to assume it’s a medical drama.

I’m going to say Debra from Dexter.

“change of heart” – Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall divorced
“extremely slim” – Jennifer Carpenter has a very slim figure.

It’s Elliot Stabler from SVU. I doubt it will be done for the season finale, though. My bet is that he’ll be killed off at the beginning of season 13. And it’s definitely about time, too.

“WILDLY” popular makes me think Olivia Wilde. I’m gonna guess Thirteen from HOUSE. She took a hiatus so she could focus on film. She’s back on set now, but I can see them killing her off.

  • Scorpio13

I do think it’s Elliot Stabler from SVU but for something different; CSI Miami Horatio Caine (David Caruso-I could only hope) or CSI NY Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise).

    • Newtsgal

Those were the three I was thinking of and for the same reasons….lol Way to go Scorpio!

    • bananas

Sinise is executive producer of CSI NY so I doubt he’ll be leaving. I definitely wouldn’t mind if Caruso left…I might actually watch that show if he were gone. I was thinking maybe Marg Helgenberger also..there was talk she may leave before too long. Same with Stabler from SVU, my top guess because of the V in MVP with the same placement.

      • Scorpio13

William Petersen is an Executive Producer on the original CSI and he left the show so why can’t Gary Sinise leave.

      • HotTea

William Peterson’s character wasn’t killed off, though.

Besides, the BI implies that the actor is getting fired because of money issues. That definitely sounds like Chris Meloni. But your other guess, David Caruso, sounds good, too.

    Random guess — Charlie Sheen

  • Lozza

It’s not Leighton Meester is it? There’s been lots of discussion about the fact she was no one to be seen as the others filmed the Gossip Girl finale. I, however, hope it’s Cuddy.

    Taye diggs private practice

  • dee123

    I’m thinking Stabler too.

  • SayItAintSo

Not sure if desperate housewives is a drama, but will say Terrie Hatcher for someone different. Love that show lol

    grey’s anatomy-merideth

  • Dangerousmess

I hope it’s not Leighton in Gossip Girl since she did say she wasn’t too interested in focusing on her film career. And rumors started going that in two years after her contract was up she was leaving. This rumor was last year. So I really hope it’s not her or anyone in the cast. I wonder if Six is a clue. 6th season, series with the name 6 or something. I have no idea.

  • apple martini

I really hope it’s not Stabler.
I still think it’s someone from House, which Ausiello is a fan of, if I remember. The toe tag looks like something you’d see in a morgue/hospital. I think the headline is a red herring to draw attention to Six Feet Under alumni.

  • dee123

Someone just asked Ausiello if it was Derek from Grey’s & he replied “it’s not Derek on Grey’s Anatomy. (it’s worse.)”

I do not think “broadcast series” means it can’t be a cable show. If it said “network series” then I would think differently. Can someone explain the logic behind why it can’t be a cable show b/c it says broadcast?

That being said– and it makes me so, so, so sad to say because I will be one of the most unhappy people if it’s true, but I do not see how this is not Dexter and specifically Michael C. Hall. Jennifer Carpenter would make sense given the “slim” reference and the divorce, but she isn’t exactly a wildly popular– a lot of fans hate her. Like violently hate her. Dexter/MCH, on the other hand, is practically worshipped by many.

Here are the things that I think make this obviously about Dexter: 1) the SFU reference in the title 2) Dexter is definitely a “fave” character with a massive fan base 4) Dexter is a serial killer so the references to kill off and last breath are quite fitting 4) Ausiello frequently gives Dexter scoop 5) the second to last line of the blind says “MVP”– coincidence that Dexter is played by “MCH”? 6) there has been much speculation amongst the Dexter fanbase that the upcoming season is in fact the show’s final season and his death, either coming at the beginning of the season (thus setting the entire season up for everyone to realize his secret post-mortem) or the end seems like probably the only way to do it and 7) he is an exec producer on the show himself, so I would imagine that it would be a decision that would not be reached lightly.

That being said I hope I am wrong.

    • Broadcast means its “cast out broadly” – like in everyday regular TV (there was such a thing you know) – which are the networks – not cable.

      • cmac15

You know, a very edited version of the first season of Dexter was broadcast on CBS during the writers strike. That’s when I first saw it and immediately ordered Showtime.

That being said, Izahart does some good sleuthing! (I can’t get over the Six Feet Under reference, either …..hoping it’s not referring to Parenthood and Peter Krause.) And I, too, hope you are wrong about Dexter.

      • jaa1169

I too, hope it is not Peter Krause. He really makes that show, however, it could survive without him, if it had to.

  • danos

Olivia Wilde would make a lot of sense for this. Lot of drama for the show if she died at she has a budding movie career. And house is getting to that time in its lifespan where killing characters would make sense.

  • Newtsgal

I was just watching L&O SVU, at the end it said tune in next week when L&O loses one of their own. Hhmmmmmmm!

  • centexboiz

“Aushole” would imply to me that the person is Australian.

  • rkintn

I just watched this weeks episode of “Criminal Minds”. My guess is for Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster’s character). They did leave an opening for her to come back in that they used the everyone-thinks-she-is-dead-but-who-was-that-at-the-end ending.

    someone from glee?
