BlindGossip – This television star has gained a lot of weight over the past couple of years. Because this has been an ongoing issue, s/he has started seeing a therapist to get to the root of the problem. It turns out that the star’s hypocrisy in living one life in public – and a different one in private – creates anxiety and depression which, in turn, trigger binge eating.
According to the therapist, the issue will not be resolved until our star comes out of the closet. The star is actually considering it, but is worried about the timing of the announcement, and its potential career and financial impact. Will their career wither? Will their finances suffer? While we don’t know for sure, we do know that a competitor who has done so is thriving in a similar career.

No, the characters are not in competition. Segal’s character is wildly, happily married, NPH’s character a womanizing schemer.

I’m going off the wall with this one. J.C. Chazez or Nick Lachey. Lance Bass came out and it didn’t bother him. Both J.C. and Nick are more t.v. stars now. Just throwing some new names in. Nick has been looking a little chunky lately and that Vanessa just screams beard. I wouldn’t be surprised if either Nick or J.C. came out as gay or bi. They would be concerned about their finances.

I for one don’t think it’s Oprah. First of all, I’d consider her more than just a television star and secondly she has fluctuated in weight for years and has said repeatedly this newest fluctuation has been due to a hypothyroid problem. (I’ve had it and it is a PAIN in the butt to try and lose any weight)
My guess is Sean Hayes from Will and Grace. Many of the questions start with Will. He’s starred in commercials before (Possibly for fast-food), has worked in food banks and restaurants before. I believe the competitor is Neil Patrick Harris. He has a very similar career where they are best known for TV but have been in a few movies as well. (OH and NPH was in Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle- another possibile clue for the burger pic.) I haven’t seen a public statement on his sexuality- but I’ve heard MANY stories about him.

To add to the Oprah thoughts, Stedman just left her saying he “will not be controlled anymore”. I think that was an arrangement from the beginning. So with Stedman leaving and her mulling over if she should come out, it just makes sense to me that this is Oprah. And the fact it says “television star” not actor/actress.
And one more thing, I remember when Ellen came out she said she lost weight out of relief (not that she was ever fat) so the title of this blind reminds me of that which of course would point to Oprah.

Oprah and Gayle have said numerous times that if they were gay, they would tell us so. I do not think this is Oprah — I doubt she would lie about her sexuality. She is honest about so much in her life, like being molested as a child, etc. And her weight has been up and down since she was a child, so I also doubt that some sudden bout of conscience hit her in the last couple of years that made her gain weight back. Plus, she is much more than a mere “television star” — she is an icon!
I agree. She’s not my cup of tea, but she seems like a very honest woman. And she’s powerful enough that I don’t think she’s in danger of loosing anything to be out in the open about something like this.

It seems every two years that Oprah has some secret she has to release before someone else does. Molestation, promiscuous behavior, giving birth to a still born when she was a young girl, drugs, being a mistress, being in abusive relationships, etc. Why not one more thing? It would all make sense.

I agree with most others that this is Oprah. For those that think it may be an actor(ess) I just don’t see them as having competition. Of course there is competition with who would get a role but that doesn’t make sense to me. Katie Couric, Oprah, Jay Leno – they all have direct competitors pitted against them for ratings. To me it doesn’t make sense that an actor would be described as having a competitor. And as to Oprah being so open about everything I think admitting your sexuality, especially after years of denying, is different than talking about other things that happened in your life. Of course being molested is horrible and very personal but what person would be offended by her sharing this information? It was great for ratings – not trying to be callous at all. I think the fact that she has lied (for lack of a better word) about this for years is reason to be concerned about coming clean, that could easily turn people off.

Regarding competition: not only talk show hosts have competition. Actors can have competitors for Emmy awards or ratings. Also, reality stars who are not technically actors can compete, a la Dancing with the Stars. Television actors who have directed indie films (John Krasinski) can have said films entered into competition (Krasinski’s film was entered in Sundance). That said, I have no further guess.

Who would take a cross-country trip with her BFF and talk about how they practically snuggled together? Who would get angry that Rosie implied she’s gay? Who would claim that they don’t want to marry someone like Stedman because of whatever “issues” they have (isn’t that what lawyers are for)? Who shows up with her BFF at events? Who poses on the cover of her magazine with Ellen with the caption “Joy” that also reads “Gay”? Who has a ton of money invested in their new venture, which will take her off the regular TV lineup and put her on her own cable network? Who’s audience is composed of almost exclusively white, older, and straight women? Who lives a very lavish, and expensive lifestyle (running your own private jet is nothing to sneeze at), that requires a steady flow of income?
The kind of woman who would do these things is one who doesn’t care about appearances, which is kind of the opposite of a closet case.
