BlindGossip – Except for one TV series, this lovely actress has done all her work in films. However, she wasn’t quite able to act her way out of an awkward encounter with a computer repair specialist. The actress told him that the screen broke when she dropped her laptop. The service tech took a look at it and then remarked that the damage looked more like someone had punched the screen. After a few awkward seconds, the actress admitted that in fact her husband had done just that. When she asked the computer guy if they could replace it with an unbreakable screen, he jokingly remarked that she’d be better off replacing the guy. “I already have,” she replied.

I think everybody over-guesses the Penns, but they are the only viable guess in my opinion.

Wouldnt it cost a lot to repair a laptop screen? Why not just get a new computer? There’s something fishy going on with this one, BG…. I’m not buying it.
It’s possible an actress with that much money doesnt know the cost of a new screen. I’m sure the repair guy told her that would be cheaper and easier.

I will try to answer the computer question (bit of enthusiast). Part of the security validation of Microsoft is that the password won’t work if the verified computer equipment list is not attached; you just can’t take out the hard drive and pop it into a new computer (the equipment component list is different). Depending on the model of the laptop, some laptops come with an external monitor plug socket, but others don’t. If you want your documents off your laptop then you may have to replace the screen.
I just got mine replaced (after it got stepped on) and parts and labor only cost me about $200. *shrug*

Actually, that’s not a bad guess – she has done film almost exclusively other than SATC, and her perfume is called “Lovely.” But I can’t imagine Matthew Broderick breaking a laptop screen, and I can’t imagine SJP telling some random guy that she had separated from her husband.
But yeah, it’s Robin Wright Penn.
The one tv series part was “Square Pegs.” SATC is cable. But I don’t think her hubby has a temper like that.

Robin Wright Penn was the first person I thought. She was on the soap opera Santa Barbara,and after that I think it was just movies…like UNBREAKABLE!

“Lovely actress” suggests Anna Faris to me. She’s done a lot of movies and one series – “Friends”. Her current marriage is recent, maybe she’s just discovered she didn’t know her husband as well as she thought she did.

Microsoft doesn’t have any kind of hardware list, other than the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) which tells the operating system how to run the hardware. You can attach a hard drive to any other computer and read the hard drive unless it has been encrypted – and no one uses encryption. You may have to mess around with the file system permissions, but that is it.
I’m guessing it was a nice Powerbook or something, and the $600 bucks for a new screen is better than buying a new $2500 laptop and moving all her music and photos and crap.
gotta agree. when my laptop screen went i would rather have just replaces it then replacing the whole laptop. it was a pain to move music, photos etc.

I am going with Robin Penn Wright who had a role in the daytime series “Santa Barbara” (1984), for which she was nominated three times for an Emmy. She then starred in movies, such as, Forrest Gump, and M. Night Shyamalan’s “Unbreakable.”
